It is true on a very, very clear day you can see the UK, the sea below, and the heavens above. A great place to survey the Island as the Vikings would have seen it. It also takes on a very magical spooky feeling when a fog or mist descends. I took this view with the Barrule peeking through on the left and on the right the start of Skyhill so you would see how the Vikings would have viewed it from Ramsey free of modern housing and shops and business premises. I can see all this from my house either front or back. Therefore I am always under the shadow of the Vikings.

Babooshka: I really like the first photo of the Sky and mountains.
That's a funny name for a mountain! Beautiful photograph :)
So that is Snaefell! No snow then?
Drama and magic in the clouds.
Magnificent scene and beautiful heaped up clouds! Personally, I think I would probably be too scared to go by train up to the summit, but what a fantastic idea. What an amazing view to have from your house!
Great cloud formation
I am enjoying the viking scenario. The links from my country to yours are many and varied. The clouds show much drama.
these are beautiful captures!
What lovely, broody clouds! Great Sky Watch. I enjoyed the narrative information you provided. You live in a very interesting place. I popped down to read about Godred Croven and King Olaf for a bit. I think I have to come back to take it all in. You have a wonderful blogsite.
Absolutely amazing photograph!
Breathtaking view!
"Louis" is checking in late here. He somehow missed Thursday's post. Better late than never....
Appropriately brooding sky for today's edition of Viking News!
Pretty sky and nice view
That's quite an impressive view from your house!
Interesting that so much history is known about the sle of Man and that so much of it involves the Vikings.
That sky above Snaefell is just a thing of beauty to behold. So glad you shared it for SWF - or for any day for that matter.
Such a turbulent sky seems so appropriate for a Viking mountain. Very impressive photo. Must be nice to sit at the cafe & watch the sky for a while.
You have had a terrific week of Viking posts! The view in this photo is just beautiful. And, as always, your skies such great colors!
Beautiful sky watch shots! Very informative writeup too.
that sure is a great view accompanied by excellent commentary! thank you.
HI B....this is an awesome shot! and I love your title....very very nice....
I'm loving the history which goes with your photographs. The clouds in this image are magnificent.
Splendid sky, wonderful picture for Sky Watch!
Thanks for your kind comment.
Beautiful landscape. The clouds over the mountains... just awesome.
Very interesting. You mentioned the mountains in Iceland. The pictures look like Iceland, and the name was familiar (I've been there several times), so I had to look Isle of Man up to see exactly where it is.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I wouldn't have found yours so quickly if you hadn't.
Just beautiful clouds and SWF photos!
Magnificent sky. Beautiful and foreboding.
Happy SWF.

excellent post again. fantastic sky
How wonderful to see all those kingdoms from that mountain. And thanks for the new viking information! Thanks also for the visit.
A true Island sky. Very fine picture.
I have enjoyed this Viking week. I have a very strong interest in all things Viking as I have Norwegian in my genes on my fathers side and he is called Olaf too. I of M looks so delightful through your eyes.
Thank you for showing us Snaefell (Snowfjell?) More information I didn't know. It would be a pleasure to walk up that mountain, and then take the train back down. Must be a marvellous view.
Keep it up!
I too have enjoyed this week.
I'm back ...
Oh no, cried blog world ... he's back!
But guess what, I'm so happy. If I didn´t rejoin SWF I would never have the chance to see these great photos!
Thank you for getting Sky Watch in with your Viking series.. I will be back to read through this post again later and catch up on the one I missed yesterday..
I read you comment and thoughts on Friday being dropped... it was food for thought and I think what you said and how other have mentioned the same it might be as wise to leave things as they are... I like the fact the 'Daily' bloggers join in.. I see this as a place where all decent blogs are welcome and can join in. Wise words from the wise Owl of Man ;o)
Snaefell is very cold at the top.Nice image.
Very interesting post. What a dramatic sky! Happy Sky Watch!
Thank you for sharing this information. What a wonderful sky to capture. Happr SWF.
That sky is wonderful. A perfect shot.
Snaefell heard a little bit like it is Norwegian, And it surtenly must be named by the Vikings long time ago. It could actually be a word/name from what we call "Old Norwegian" that was the language here in Norway and on Island for a long time ago.
We have a Norwegian word today "snaufjell" That means a mountain with little vegetation.
It is a beautiful landscape:)
Petunia's SWF
We often go up there. I didn't know where it got it's name from. You have an very friendly blog.
Glorious billows of white! Beautiful pic!
These are wonderful clouds full of intensity and drama; also wonderful informative text to go with the photo.
The Isle of Man. I've found it useful in crossword puzzles, but I've never visited. Thanks for sharing with us through your blog.
WOW! Now that is one BIG sky full of drama!
You can see everything from the top of the mountain, or they thought, pretty neat. I have enjoyed all of your recent posts.
to be able to see 6 kingdoms is quite a feat - and what an amazing place to see them from!
Likewise enjoying the posts and have to get back to the island for a weekend.
Sweet shot.

A strong sky and photo!
thank you also for your text, Babooshka.
Have a happy weekend!
You walk under the same skies as the Vikings did centuries ago - I love those kinds of connections. And what a great view!
Its as if a big monster would come out of it! Like those tv series Xena and Hercules you know! Seems the clouds got too much water to bear! Happy weekend, hope you're having a great one!
It looks dangerous (flooding)! And those clouds look pregnant with threat. I'm scared!!!
Fantastic clouds, and rather ominous.
Hope you are having a great Sky Watch Friday.
