TONY SOPRANO HAS AN ISLE OF MAN BANK ACCOUNT

Barker

Bet that got your attention didn't it!

Actually, it's true.

Ok, not strictly true as he was a fictional character, but you get my drift. The fictional character, Tony Soprano of The Sopranos(doh!) did have money stashed away here in the Isle of Man in a Off Shore bank account, set up by his Russian contacts. Go back and check it out. Mid series I think. Really not my imagination, they name the Isle of Man in two episodes, honest. So referring to the 3 legs that appear on both the Isle Of Man and the Sicily flag now you know why. Not quite sure if we have a Manx Mafia but if we have should I be worrying now I have drawn your attention to the flags and dodgy cash connection. If my blog doesn't appear tomorrow you will know why. I might be sleeping with the fishes! You understand I'm joking don't you? That's just for those devoid of a sense of humour.

The Isle of Man has long since had a reputation for a place to salt your off shore funny money away, alas not entirely true. Things have tightened up here. So while we do have a low tax threshold, we try not to be financial heaven for erm, funny money attained through, how shall we say not on the level means. Obama also has his on views on "Tax Havens" as we are known.
You may want to see what he has to say. No link you can find that out. I dare not prompt you.

The cartoon bears no relation to the post. No images and in light of recent events wanted to show something lighter from the Barker Illustration Collection rather than the Political.

LOL...
I do see now and then adverts of stashing money in the Isle of Man. :-)

And I read all the way until the end for the caption on the picture...and learned something along the way!

Is the Isle of Man a country of it's own? I guess I should wikipedia it but just for comment sake and my lack of being informed... I asked.

Wow, did a search on Wiki. Makes for a even more informative blog to follow.
Cheers!

Glad to see you so whimsical today, Babooshka!
I grew up on the Us East Coast around Sopranos types. Watching the show is nostalgic for me- how far away I got from that milleu! I still refuse to sit with my back to the door of a public place. They kiss your hand and act like kings. . . you just don;t wanna be around when it goes sideways. Be a lady and their chivalry really goes a long way. Good guys, in a strange way . . . .Aloha-

Amusing cartoon, the ultimate in petkeeping. If I had any dodgy cash I'd go for somewhere warm, then at least I'd get a holiday out of seeing it. But if I did have an IOM account, I could come and see you two.

Nice to see your man's cartoon for change from photographs once in a while - I don't watch the Sopranos so some of the references are bit lost on me but the giste is obvious.

Rain and wind here is washing the snow away!

We have the mafia here..'nuff said.

That cartoon reminds me of Bateman. The sort of thing he might have done had TV existed.

I wonder if that has anything to do with the global economy?

Two of the worlds richest men, Warren Buffet and Bill Gates bank their money somewhere. Who knows it might be at the bank in your city. LOL

I am getting a little stronger. I am getting a nurse today and hopefully she can remove the tape that is driving me nuts and then the two or three stitches they left after they had cut the hole too large into my chest cavity under my left arm. The tape now bothers me more than the stitches.

TALC is the only thing I heard while in the hospital for 7 full days that caused even the old nurses to wince. It is a caustic stuff not like the name implies that makes things raw and that then will, hopefully, become scar tissue that prevents leaks and blowing out of the lung in the future.

It hurts and it takes all day for the hurt to ease. I had lots of morphine shots.

I lost the desire for coffee and have had none for about 10 days. I did drink and am allowed to drink decaf coffee but I don't really like it.

I am on a no salt or low salt diet and am still trying to get used to it. Even a dab of salt makes things taste better than no salt.

Thanks for the best wishes and for coming around. It means a lot.

Like your humorous post. I've never watched The Sopranos, though I've heard the series is good. I am currently hooked on Lost and "24"....

Nice to see you at your witty writing best again. I know life is very difficult for you over there but from what I see on here you can always become a writer instead. I did get the Sopranos bit and the cartoon is a welcome change from Gary's heavy stuff. Cannot say enough how talented both of you are and how much you deserve a break. No one compares with you for Rugby photography, remember that my long time friend.

Take care.xx
