ONCE MORE UNTO THE BRIDGE!

Blue and green should n'er bee seen except upon a fool

It's Saturday and I know you may have been expecting the infamous Ramsey Swing Bridge after my skywtach frday but afraid not. Not until I can open the precious file or take some new ones. Instead another sweet little connecting bridge. Luscious green isn't it? So once more unto the bridge!(stop groaning)

This footbridge stands outside the two schools in Ramsey, one on either side of the road. A few weeks ago I uploaded a shot of Lezayre Road and I mentioned the footbridge. Why do we need footbridges for such a quiet place you ask? Ah well, that would be for the famous Isle of Man TT Road Races. When the motorbikes are here the roads around the island that are part of the course are closed off to traffic. So you really can get trapped in one part of the island for a few hours and indeed trapped on one side of the road. The footbridges were erected to enable the kids to cross from one side of the road to the other. Good idea eh. Pity the kids aren't actually in school that week. Doh! To be fair there is practise week for the bikes(outside of school hours though so double doh!) and exams are occurring so perhaps there is method in the madness. I will exercise the benefit of the doubt. Have I ever see anyone use the footbridge, no. Have I used it. Your'e kidding me aren't you?

In keeping with photographing one subject a zilion times I will show you a shot from the other side wthin the space of a Manx minute and you won't believe the change in light and shadows. Cartier - Bresson for those of you taking note will come to mind for that shot but then so many of mine are anyway, like the black and white of this shot. You want to be a real photographer, not a computer manipulation whizz kid you will understand. Before I realised who he was I was taking images that way naturally. Photography comes from within you, not a computer.

No! I love blue and green especially in a tartan but this bridge is way too green, better than orange I suppose.

Green is my favorite color and blue is high on the list, so I think this is just lovely :-)

I really like the way you play with your subjects. It reminds me of this artist whose name I can't recall/ He kept creating the same image over and over again of a bird in flight. They were all the same, but he insisted that they were all exceptionally different and original.

Marvellous!

That's a pretty little bridge.

I'm not crazy about its particular shade, but I think I'd still rather have this green than the horrendous pink and blue that our Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chose for our foot bridges!

When I was much younger, I agreed with your quote. But now I like the color combination — very soothing.

I say red and green should not be seen upon a fool myself but some people say blue. Interesting to see your reaction to the green on this. Do I need to tell the Council to re paint it?

It looks pretty to me. Are there any cheap B&B'S on the island?

I was laughing not groaning at the first paragraph - I think the third may have gone a little over my head though.

I'm surprised no-one uses the bridge, I would have thought it might be a good vantage point for watching the races.

It's just beautiful. The green and the blue are so vivid and the trees look like different shades of purple. Blue and green happen to be my favorite colors.

I love that blue-green contrast...maybe the green is too green but on this picture thats what contributes to the beauty of it....makes it lively and vibrant.

btw, ive been lurking here for a while...and wanted to read more of the stuff before posting anything....i like to read about places like these, seen from the eyes of the people living there, both the good and the bad sides....the bonus is that is accompanied with pictures :)

regards

I must be a fool, I love to wear blue and green.

Very good words you wrote about photography coming from inside us and not from a computer.

Whoa! Crazy! But I'd rather it be there than on my living room walls, that's for sure! =D

I use that bridge, every TT and GP week.

Too Green. Yet a nice walking bridge, if anybody was using it. Great capture. Like the sharp contrast.

Beautiful bridge. It's pretty green against the red of the trees and the lovely blue sky.

I like it anyway! But I groaned at your terrible pun!

How right you are about these two colours. Still your image is strangely effective. It certainly makes the bridge stand out when the sky above is so blue. Nice camera angle.
