The plan to capture the elusive heron that occasionally fishes these waters, always seems to be a failed one. Plan b, to capture the passing cormorants. They were also a no show. As for the swans, long since passed by, and no seagulls around. Instead the capture of visiting Canada Geese and ducks on shimmering ripples. Lovely afternoon light. The harbour is a wonderful place for coastal birdwatchers, but never plan to capture on camera any specific type. Just enjoy the visitors. I may even spot the even more elusive kingfisher one day.

Those Canada Geese are everywhere and to think they were once endangered. We have an all black goose (bill and legs too) visiting our creek. Never seen one before. Maybe it is a hybrid. We have a pair of blue herons and some snowy egrets not mention the usual mallard, coots and moorhens - also an occasional Cormorant.
Canada Geese are such beautiful birds!

When my husband and I bird, we rarely see the specific birds we were looking for. :))
Alas, my own experience the other day when I wanted to see the pair of snow geese and the yellow headed blackbirds at Coachline Lake! :-) Hoping to be successful when we go again...perhaps I should say I want to get shots of the cormorants and Canada Geese. It might work.:-)
