Moonlighting
We are at that time of the month again when a bunch of us select an image to interpret a given theme. This first day of this month the challenge was simply "night." Good for me to experiment with a little midnight moonlighting as opposed to the safer daytime images.Well not quite midnight. I'm not that dedicated. Die hard that I am photographing the extreme, not even I would want to be hanging around an empty harbour quite so late in the evening. I've done this before shooting through the masts early evening with golden sunlight and I find it works well at most hours of the day. I could give you the technical reasons that there is no such thing as moonlight but simply the brightness of the sun hitting the moon to reflect the light but why get bogged down on the science bit. Let's just view the image for what it is, my take on a moonbeam dancing over the river. Would that be a moon river then or a moon dance? Apologises for the low res small image but I have to ward off those that take what does not belong to them. Hope you can still enjoy.

You should photograph Laxey Bay in moonlight. No place like it. Really pretty.
Great shot - I often stand amaze at just how much the moon can light of the world at night
I came for your skywatch. Why did you not have this? Amazing.
Fantastic blue light from the moon. It brings the shadow from the pit black.
That's so pretty!
The moonlight is very subtle and pretty.
Pam- I had an axe to grind and went with the cranes for skywatch. Sorry I had to turn comments off on that post for a while, but I was getting a little too much spam.
Time to sleep. Catch you all later.
Will you please sort a way to buy your photos online! I want this like yesterday.
Nice capture. I'd call them moonquins. Ya' know like seaquins.
In many ways, moonlight over the water is even more beautiful than sunlight. This is gorgeous, Babooshka!
Love the title, the color of the sky, the text. As usual, just perfect. Can't get that little sliver of blue out of my mind!
wow this is awesome!!!
Babooshka, this is a charming composition with great atmosphere.
Beautiful shot. I love the way the moon makes it's own path on the water.
Awesome shot! Love this one :)
How absolutely lovely. such a charming shot of the moon and it's reflection. A beautiful atmosphere to this photo.
Enjoy your French holiday!
Gorgeous!
You make a fantastic shot:)
This is beautiful & have a nice day.
Science aside-----that sure is a super shot. Moon glow is what we'll call it. MB
Great shot and love the title.
Love the blueness of the moon-Blue Moon....
Thanks for your visits and kind comments.
I love the NIGHT shimmer on the water - great NIGHT theme snap!
Glory be that is heaven sent.
Wonderful photo. It says everything about night that I used to enjoy.
This has been the coldest July ever recorded here in Ohio where we live. And it was only 59 F here this morning. So August is starting out OK but I fear a climate change is on the way and each year it will disrupt the lives of more birds and butterflies.
I love it and especially like the lines in the foreground. Good job.
A stunning sky. Beautiful light. Unfortunately it has been hard to get a London night sky that doesn't have noise pollution. Hope you get the thieves and spammers sorted soon.
Funny you should mention spammers again Mo. Just deleted another. Everyone watch out for Anonymous in Japanese with the letters MJ in there. just delete.
Thats an excellent photo. Love the shades of blue.
This is one of the most amazing shots I've seen in a long time. And SO creative. Don't apologize for protecting your work! I think I'm going to start adding a watermark.
Very nice picture, apt for the August theme...
Cool blues.
The shillouetted lines make beautiful abtract composition against the blue night sky. Nice choice for the Theme Day, B.
Thank you for your visit and comment. I was very busy and did not post much last month.
Did you manage to talk your friend into visiting Bandung.
Please let me know if he/she is in town and needs help.
I mean, I'll be happy to show him/her the city where I live.
That's an absolutely beautiful image, really evocative. Lovely stuff.
Very cool! I like moon dance best :)
That moonlight is beautiful shining on the water like that!
Incredible Babooshka!! I love it!
nicely done! Moonlight dancing on the waters is one of my personal favorite night subjects to photograph.
Slinger - Twin Cities
Stunning, Babooshka. Truly stunning.
hello... hapi blogging... have a nice day! just visiting here....
Always nice to see you have good sense and some limits. All good girls should be home before midnight and definitely not wandering around the docks. Then again, experimentation for the sake thereof would be a valid excuse ... as if you really need one -:) Moonlight can be amazing, no?
Beautiful!!!
gorgeous photo for theme day. your work is always so wonderful. thanks for your comments. I am glad you are enjoying the solar eclipse photos on my site.
I missed so much all this time i wasn't blogging. I really enjoyed all of your posts. Your photos are awesome as always.
Most has already been said, but I just want to say I think this is SUPERB !:-)
I LOVE this picture! The silhouettes are very neat.
Nice choice for the theme day. I love that your night is so dark! No artifical light sources to be seen.
STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is GORGEOUS!!!
My husband gets exited by motorcycles - now- moonlight - that is for me!
Wow, this is amazing. Very beautiful dancing silver.
Okay the exposure I can sort out on my own, but I gotta know how you got that color to the moonlight. I've gotten (more or less) true blue by dialing the color temp down to its coolest setting, but this? Closest thing I can think of is maybe using an "underwater" filter. C'mon Babs, give a guy a break how'dja do it?
It's awesome however you did it.
Truly!
Low res or high - it is a beautiful shot! And do I spot a bit of the Swing Bridge in the background?
