MY WORLD...... IS A LOAD OF RUBBISH!

Welcome to My world of Rubbish!

Cone Alone!

Trolleycide!

Outboard Motors do not belong in a Nature Reserve!

Now this is real photography!

This is how some idiots choose to treat the island, and these are the images others haven't the guts to show. Get your act together everyone. Let's not have the usual clean of the areas that are only visible to the tourists, but all of it. All I have to say today. You have seen how good the island can look on my blog, but this crap is really p*****g me off when I walk through the nature reserve, a haven for wildlife. This is not the worst. You wouldn't want to see some of the crap and I mean that literally there. Isle of Man Government - it's not just the visable bits that needs a makeover.

I know it looks like an arty social study in the urban landscape staged images, but no for real archive and new and a disgrace don't you think?
I hope your area is a lot cleaner than this.

how did my chair get there? just kidding. we suffer with the same issues here in virginia. you think you are in a pristine place and you come up trash and junk...because people are such piggies they can't dispose of it properly!

enjoyed your post.

Priceless! as always! And yes, damnit, we find the same things here in Seattle although I have to admit it is better here than in Texas, but still so many people who just don't care. Your shots are terrific because they say it so much better than words could ever do! Thanks for the reminder, Babooshka!

Yup. Every landscape has a dark side, it seems. Sad but true. We need to pay attention!

There will be Blood B.
Braver than I am for posting this. You even make rubbish look good.

Lavender and Vanilla Friends of the Gardens said...

You are right Babooshka tell them. I get upset to when I see rubbish along the roads when walking; or for that matter anywhere. We have a big clean up day, and many do their bit and help but it is always the ones who do not rubbish the landscape in the first place.

laxeylass said...

I understand your angst. It's always the same. Sorry I can't say it will improve. Good point made.

Babooshka: I do not like it when two worlds collide. Nature and trash should be kept seperatly.

One of my favorite posts. This happens everywhere. I really like the term trollycide.

Have a good week.

I hate to see people using nature preserves and wild areas as dumping grounds. These photographs are so artistic that it actually looks appealing but I know the dark side behind the images. Outside of the photograph it's rubbish that shouldn't be in a natural area.

Jane Hards Photography said...

I didn't mean to make them look arty just how I photograph, can't do it badly. Really annoys me when the island gets a lick of paint and a hedge trim for the TT, but the real world gets neglected.

maryt/theteach said...

Babooshka, I know how you feel. I feel the same when I see plastic bags hanging in trees! Ugh! :(

Unknown said...

I bet if Tracey Emin or one of these other so called 'artists' collected all these things up and displayed them in the Tate, then they'd sell for thousands.

Jane Hards Photography said...

GM - I agree this would be "Turner Prize." Maybe I should re-title something wise ass and pretentious and pontificate about it and then sell for a mint. I might just do this just for the hell of it.

Martha said...

Very sad how people treat our world.

Thumbelina said...

Sadly that type of dumping goes on everywhere. Councils and governments are not interested.
They make great photos though - and you have capatured them well with great captions (love the family reunion!) but I understand the message beneath - and I hope some one listens.

Same goes here on our place, lots of junk on the roadside, seashores and everywhere. Gggrrr....

For a load of garbage you have amazing photography. True artist.

I have the same reaction when I go hiking and find bottles, cigarette butts, beer cans and dirty diapers! Unfortunately irate letters to the newspaper haven't changed a thing. It sounds like everybody's world has a few pigs in it.

At first glance I thought that first one was a leg and a boot...then I realized that's not even shaped like a boot. It's a shame people are so thoughtless.

I like your 'real photography' post! This is not exclusive to Ramsey...

Catherine said...

Hope your rant succeeds in getting the place cleaned up!!

mannanan said...

Agree with you whole heartedly. Maybe we don't see the place that differently.

Unknown said...

I really appreciate that you just woke me up! I don't know if it's local pride or what, but I sometimes feel like I may be betraying or dissing my community if I show its ugly side. But ruining our environment should be dissed! You've inspired me today.

alicesg said...

It is strange why people just dump things at the side and let others clear the rubbish for them. We do have inconsiderate people like that too.

Unknown said...

This can used as recycle in my world.
People can get cash out of the rubbish like outboard engine.May be I blog about this one day:)
By the way nice shot & have a nice day.

Neva said...

It is so true about rubbish in places that we can't see for special occasions....I don't understand why governments don't clean up the WHOLE place...same thing happens here too. Love your shots...as unbelievable as they are that people actually leave them there....amazing!

Rob said...

A same to see this junk in our nature preserves. I too have encountered much junk on my photo journeys in our park reserve. There is so much. But now I think I will settle for those plastic water bottles you see everyone clutching as the jog, walk, or hike.

Hi Babooshka, I am glad you posted this, because I have always wanted to post something of this kind found in our downtown financial district. I was just hesitant and I am glad you have the courage to do so. I still have my pictures. Once in a while, I would ass in my post some cans, and some cigarette butts. This is a good one.

Brian Miller said...

great pics and post. the disregard for the enviro seems pretty universal. disappointing. but we can talk about it all we want, it takes one stepping up and doing something about it. thanks babooshka!

Yes, our worlds are full of the beautiful, but the ugly is there too!

Eye-opening photos to serve as a reminder that all is not well in some areas. Sad how some people think it's okay to dump their trash on the side of the road or wherever they please.

Gaelyn said...

I so hate litter. Does anyone like to see it? Then why is it there?

Maria Verivaki said...

at least the isle of man has enough foliage to cover it - crete is so dry at times, that our rubbish stands out like a sore thumb on the brown hillsides

Olivier said...

tu pourrais en faire une exposition.....

LadyFi said...

Well said! Compared to Sweden, the UK is so full of litter! Such a shame as well as being bad for the environment.

loulee said...

It's sad to see our island spoiled by a few thoughtless people.

Baruch said...

Rubbish ... such a universal problem aye!

Carolyn said...

Right on Babooshka and thank you for having the guts for speaking up. It is the same on our island and we also have the debri from a hundred plus years of logging that is just left in the forest to rust and pollute the landscape. Why do we do these things?

Elisabeth's bright side said...

I wish they would be put in prison fo such disgusting behaviour, or at least huge fines. Thanks for showing. After this I need to go out in the garden to calm down :)

Pat said...

Trashers are world-wide, I'm afraid. Here it's the same. Now the City is cleaning up vast areas of dumped material in preparation for the Student Olympics (Universijade) that will take place here in early July. I think after that, the mess will come creeping back.

Arija said...

Is there no hard rubbish collection on the Island? Or are the people just too lazy to dispose of things responsibly.

magiceye said...

can feel your angst! but the captions you have given to the images are hilarious!

Dan said...

For a rubbish post it sure is pretty.

Crap is eternal everywhere. At least you had a chair to sit on.

Right you are! It's the evil of all countries and a disease that cannot be cured unless the offenders will be punished severely like they do in Singapore for instance. Thanks for youe visit and kind comment.

I think we all have idiots who dump on the side of the road. Good to bring attention to it, hopefully it will keep maybe one person from doing it.

People can be such idiots. How would they like that in their front yard--or maybe that is their front yard. MB

When not playing my saxophone, I like to raise a bit of hell to get garbage cleared out. I support your ugly photos. Makes a change from ugly old musicians!

I posted a pic about six months or so ago of a shopping cart in Godley Brook and I noticed recently it was still there which saddened me no end.

I love your passion for what you've seen and captured on "film." It is horrendous and can been found throughout the world. Our "pristine" beaches require regular clean-ups by dedicated locals but the trash doesn't ever disappear. Thank you for raising the issue.

Your presentation of the truth is wonderful - funny as heck and dreadfully sad. I hope you have luck with this lecture to your fellow residents.

Interesting shots its a shame that people like to litter up the place though>:( thanks for sharing them with us:D

I am afraid London beats IoM on this one. A pretty grubby city most of the time.

Barb said...

Babooshka - you've done it again - showing us how it really is!

Unknown said...

It annoys me too, when people just chuck there rubbish anywhere they feel ... lazy blighters!!

I have a few photos like that in my archives..

They are all good shots ... wish that the subject hadn't been there though :-(

Marites said...

the same problem we have here. why can't just they put their rubbish in the proper place, i wonder. interesting entry for my world you got here:)

Vamsee Modugula said...

Neat idea to publish about rubbish:) lol

trust me...this is nothing compared to what you see in the third world. We have rubbish even next to the Taj Mahal:(

I love the photo of that worn sofa.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yes, this is all so sad. Everyday when I go hiking, I carry a trash bag and pick up trash as I hike on the mountain. Even in the most remote areas, I find trash. I also bring a trash bag when I go to the river, etc. I think I really make a difference and next time I go there I see less and less trash. Thanks for keeping the awareness alive.
