MONOTONE! - MONOCHROME WEEKLY

Black, White & The Blues

Still wading through the Laxey Blues Festival images the festival. A teasing silhouette of a shadowy singer with all the backdrop of all the musical paraphernalia caught in the lighter side. A simple workaday l image. I wonder if the singer recognises themselves though?

Musicians are going to feature a lot at the moment. Well it makes a nice respite from the Ramsey Swing Bridge, the beach, the park etc. Also a sneaky way to get a few people in. Soon though the sultans of swing and guitar heroes will give way to the other men in black( well a rainbow of colours actually) those that roll into town on two wheels. ITV will be doing the TV coverage this year too. Don't know what I'm on about see back posts to see boys swinging into action. If some of the images look familiar other than my blog, they might just be in that bike magazine you picked up at the airport.

So for my world this week, a pub, the beach, the park, the rugby, the music or the bikes. Tell me.

Always open to suggestions as to what you'd like to see.

I like the way the musician is in shadow and the background is light. Very effective shot.

Moody shot. Did you try taking a photo of a musician on the swing bridge. Now that would be something different!

Moody and bluesy - it's a singer with hair, that's all I tell. Paraphernalia indeed! If I were singing, I'd be knocking the microphones over left, right and centre :)

Gail's Man- No but I might just get that image yet. Thanks for the idea.

I love how the musician is in shadow, fab shot!

Maybe you need to ensure your musician on the bridge is in B&W and there's a seagull or other critter flying overhead. At this rate you could just post the one photo and it would last all week :D

Interesting shot, I was looking for details.

This made me smile - but I suspect it might be my own somewhat complicated relationship with performers. An interesting monochrome at any rate!

I like your title ! I know black and white pictures are supposed to be the best and real artwork, but I just don't like them. I am for colors !!

the ambiance that the mono creates here is wonderful..

That is a very good image, very good.
To say that film always beats digi for feel is obviously untrue, this shot proves that - however the need for the photographers eye is even more important with digital and the plethora of useable pics that are suddenly available.
I have been reminded starkly just recently how few images were really useable on a roll of film.

I like the contrast between the play of light on the right and the shadows and silhouette on the left. They're all nicely brought together with the lines and angles of microphones, amplifier, wires, keyboard and roof/ceiling.

I agree with carver. I like shadow/silhouette shots.

Striking and moody B, and I love the swan below, too.
Thanks for your lovely comment.

A mysterious musician. The shadows on the canvas make the shot.

Oh B,
This is just so very good, of course. LOVE the shadows you know and the silhouette. You pushed it on the composition and it works perfectly.

Silhouettable...:-/
Plenty of shadows and light,
Great as a monochrome.

I don't think we will get to the I.O.M this year, let alone the TT.:-(
