MONOCHROME- A RAY OF LIGHT

What light through yonder window breaks? An archive one.

An enforced absence due to a few minor technicalities. Oops. Should be be back to normal blogging arrangement soon. Well soon if the Manx fairies wave their magic fairy wands or whatever it is Fairies do around here to weave their magic. So a temporary hiatus. Now who thought I'd been arrested for the photo of the policeman?

A little stock image from the archives( otherwise known as my bag of tricks for emergency measures.) I'm not inside the building but outside looking up towards the light of the foghorn. Yes foghorn. I did say foghorn, which is situated further North than Ramsey. One for all you peeling paint and faded beauty lovers. The same image in colour is vastly different. I mean it's got bright yellow walls and lime green metalwork. In fact I'll show you sometime.

It is the east, and Queen B is the sun!

I love hardly anything more than ducking into an abandoned dwelling or factory to see what's inside. Best shots are often found here.

very cool b/w! the pic. by itself, opens up many lines of thought about the stories behind it.

Great picture Babooshka! As always of course. I've been away for about three weeks due to non-technical problems, hehe. Happy to be back. A lot of catching up to do (I returned last Sunday and I have been trying to get to your blog all week. Finally....).
Have I missed something huge? You were arrested? hehe
Sorry, didn't mean to laugh. I'm off to scroll down your blog now. Bye

Babooshka, I'm admiring the photo as I strive to understand the photo--you're outside the building? Very interesting, to say the least. But that's what I've come to expect here. Thanks for each and every one.

That photo reminds me of Alcatraz, a derelict prison in San Francisco Bay.

aileni's link is wrong - can you work out the right one??

Love the photo. Hope things improve.

I must admit that I first "saw" an old prison - I will not say more...

PS I have a feeling you will like my entry this time.

Link to Aileni's link seems to be fine for me but some have expressed a problem.

Prison RuneE. Well that might be my view if I keep photographing Policeman.

Yellow and green? Who would have thought! Was the foghorn the usual red colour?

Great image, stacks of atmosphere.

Looks like it could be a bit spooky, after lights out...lol

It may be stock and it may be due to technical difficulties but it is fantastic! I love these sort of faded peeling photos, especially in B&W.

Very effective in B&W.

I like the shot a lot. Makes me wonder what has happened inside. I fear a scary story.

Very atmospheric shot! Love to see it in colour, too.

I think I just heard the foghorn . . . yes, foghorn. Good choice in monochrome. Can't wait to see this in color as well.

There is plenty of rust and texture to make yourself a photographic home.

That foghorn is busting my eardrums!

Those deserted places are always great for photographers. Very attractive in b/w.

unusual perspective

It would seem very threatening (to me anyway) without the bright sunlight coming through the window. Lovely composition.

Amazing how old peeling paint on ceilings and walls seems to create a unique and fascianting piece of art! Weird textures and patterns emerge naturally!

At first, I too thought I was looking at an upper guard walking area in a prison! But maybe not!

Black and white looks great in that room. It looks eerie.

I like this composition in b&w better than it sounds in colour.

I lile the story about the policeman's picture.
Butr in fact, they're so nice in the Isle of Man, that he invited you to visit the prison, as a guest. So kind of him.
In fact, we get here, all the atmosphere. But in fact, Prisons, I imagine, never been invited, are far more cosy.

What a lovely b/w photo....I hope all is up and working with the faries doing their magic!!!

I had to go check out your first foghorn post. That photo is so wee I couldn't see a lot of detail and I remain confused about the perspective here. Perhaps that is your intent, sneaky Babs!

Great shot - creepy looking in there!

Hark! I hear the ceiling peeling ... wonderful shot!!!!

I know this place very well. You've captured it perfectly.

If this is the type of thing you find in your archives, I don't mind at all. Great B&W.

Roan said...

This doesn't look like a place to be after dark. Perfect for B&W.

I love this black and white photo. What stories your old building could tell.

Glad to hear that you are back to regular blogging.

I love all of your photos - whether they come from the archive goodie bag or are fresh off the press!

I have to go find the police man shot now too...hehe

peeling paint is great stuff and if it was yellow it probably needs peeling

We all need a bag of tricks, when there's nothing worth taking. My photo today will have to be one too. Don't forget to pop over and see. That's if you're not sent to prison.

The title of the post suggests hope for a building in a state of disrepair.

A wonderful shot, as always.

I'd be very interested in seeing this in yellow and lie green. I'm having trouble imagining it. LOL They should have painted it black, grey and white. It actually looks good that way! ;-)

Definitely a B&W image given the colours you say it is. I would be distrated from those lovely water drops if I had to look at lime green and yellow
