You never know what you will find on the beach in Ramsey
Monochrome Odd Shots
I mentioned Friday that the beaches (yes two, I know lucky) were ideal for dogs walkers here great for bird watchers and I even mentioned the horses that trot along the beach. Now some of you laughed at this and thought I had gone too far and was spinning you a yarn. As if I would! Here you are then, right in the centre, horses. Even got a dog with them. Now this might not be odd to you if you have always lived coastal but to me this is the only sandy place I have lived near where the horses have a trot along the beach. Donkeys yes, horses no. We do have the Isle of Man Rest home for retired horses, South of the Island, horse drawn trams for the tourists in Douglas and wild horses roaming about but these I have no idea about. Was it you?
That's your lot tonight. Another Birthday to celebrate, no not mine and emails to do. Has anyone else had a problem with hotmail lately asking you to refresh the browser? Hats off to everyone for stopping by and taking interest in little 'Ole Ramsey, Isle of Man visits and comments especially when I'm offline for long periods. For your Odd Shot needs stop by Katney
and if Monochrome is your Mania then Aileni is the one for you.
Are horses on the beach fairly common then? Happy B'day G & J

Renting horses to ride on the beaches of tourist areas in Mexico is a really big attraction. Advertised as romantic.
Beautiful shot with the surf and sand patterns standing out so well in mono and the horses are a perfect touch. There is an island in NC on the coast with wild horses and the outer bank in NC have wild ponies. That's the U.S. state I live in. Although I don't live on the coastal part of my state I visit it a lot. I don't see people riding horses on the beaches I go to but those two places I mentioned are fun to see wild ones.
Horseback riding on the beach is very romantic. Would have made a nice Valentine's Day photo. Unfortunately, I don't get to the beach often enough to know whether it's common around here of not.
I use gmail and love it....love the black and white today.
I wish I could grab a glass of wine and have a stroll on that very beach with you an G. at sunset.

Honey I love ya blog but when do we see you and not horses and birds? Don't me wrong I love your work but I want to see the photographer who creates the extraordinary photographs.
Love the beach scene with the horses. That would be absolutly fun to take a ride like that on a beach. Very peaceful shot. Smiles B
Nice photo. I love to see the beaches especially if you want to be alone.
An extensive wide beach to roam free, horse, dog and all. A pleasure to visit Isle of Man, albeit virtually. I regret time online is all too short, but we try.
Hmmm. Horses on the beach would make me want to be very conscious of where I stepped. ;-)
on the mumbai beaches, yes, renting horses for a ride or horse drawn carts for children.
At the Belgian coast it's something so normal to rent a horse and ride along the beach. There are also fishermen on horses they go into the sea to pick up mussels. You gave me an idea, I should write about it !
Horses on the beach is a common sight in Holland. They are only allowed on certain times though, to avoid jumping over sunbathers I think. Unfortunately I don't live near a beach. Wish it was me on your photo *sigh* (but riding through the woods is fun too).
moment de nostalgie avec ce b&w, cela fait penser aux vacances au bords de mer enfant.
moment of nostalgia with this b & w, it is reminiscent of holidays seashores child.
One of those evocative postcard shots. Typical seaside.
Well, in Normandy coast, it's so usual that I'm not surprised. Nothing odd for me.
This old Palace facing the seafront looks like cruise ship. Beautiful in B&W.
We do see the occasional horse on the beach here as well, but your beach is so wonderful wide and open, I can't imagine it being crowded even in the height of summer.
I feel the same way about your wonderful photos that you do about mine - so tantalizingly different from what I have to shoot.
Lovely photo! The white foam in monochrome makes a stark, artistic contrast with the sand!
As for horses on the beach, horses and trainers wander selected beaches on my Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. This only happens in the dawn light but many onlookers appear for a photo shoot! That includes me!
Guess that on every beach there are always wonders to be seen!
Great monochrome photo.
Beautiful view!
In holidays I was often riding at beaches. It was a wonderful feeling.
I remember seeing horses on the beach at the end of Planet of the Apes. Since I am not near a beach thats all I can draw on.
Awesome shot.
I never did it, but I believe horse riding on the beach is not that uncommon! Must be really nice!
Wasn't me, but I wouldn't mind having a go of it. Most of our beaches are pretty free of animals, though there are a few islands where wild horses are the only permanent inhabitants.
Love the composition of this shot, the curve of the shoreline and the rocky foreground give the impression of looking in through a window or over the fence. A little voyeuristic... Like it!
Hi There, I'm New Comer, Would you like to Link Exchange with us..? Your Foto/Avatar+Link Already ADD to my Blog...Please Visit. Thx B4.. :)
Love the white of the surf in contrast to the darker hues. Wouldn't mind a ride on the beach myself.
Most beaches have a restriction for dogs.
I say lets have a restriction for kids, because they dig holes in the sand...that is dangerous..lol
Just lovely! The black and white is perfect. I don't find it strange to find horses on the beach. But I didn't know there are still wild horses about, especially on an island.
Cerritos Beach in Mazatlán has a stable with "Ginger's bilingual horses." It's a real treat as a rider to romp along the shore, riding on them. Some residents, however, do not like having them around. I often wonder who cleans up after them?
It isn't that common in Ramsey so I am wondering who this is too? I have never seen them.Could be a club or something?
Wen in Oregon with my daughter over a year ago, we saw riders on the beach with dogs trotting along beside. I was pleasantly surprised to see them, since in the US sometimes people are overly concerned with messes that I thought horses would have been banned. Anyway, what they leave is organic....
Nope, no problem with Hotmail!!
Over here in Ireland they have The Laytown Races. It's a horse racing event held on the beach every evening.
Where are the people? I suppose they're so used to TWO beaches that there's no need to walk along them most days.
I have never taken you for the "horsey" type - I have a feeling that would have been Odd indeed!
PS Thank you for the comment - I do my best.
I find it odd since I have never heard of horses being allowed on any beach.
BTW, the house in my gate picture isn't pink -- only the posts for the gate -- and the house isn't even shown in the photo as it was down the driveway closer to the River.
I think horses on the beach are fairly common!
Only two beaches? I sort of thought you would have lots.
a stunning shot. I'd love to be there on that horse!
Very well composed image. Here you've got a great depth in the picture.
Not a common sight but neither are 3 legs are they? Very old time feel to the photo.
yes, i've had that happen with hotmail quite a few times - glad it isn't my computer after all
A beautful shot and a lovely sight to see. I have seen many donkeys and even little Ponys but i don't think i have seen a horse on the beach before.
Thank you for your comments on my blog. :-)
Sea water is so good for their legs, and sand must feel good underfoot. It's a lovely picture Babooshka.
I'd love to try it sometime..looks fun.
I've always wanted to ride a horse along the beach. What freedom, and a great way to enjoy nature!
I am enjoying looking at your blog. I will come back. Your eye captures some wonderful things
I volunteer as either a dog walker or a horse rider in such lovely terrain. Nice.
I would think donkeys on the beach odd, myself. But what a good place for the horses to have a good run.
Nice shot and what a pretty beach
What a beautiful beach! Great shot, Babooshka!
for beaches, you can find the best in Philippines Cebu Island.
