Fancy at pint or a pub lunch?
My World
You have heard me mention the Swan Pub before, well here it is. Lots of you have asked to see building on the blog, especially the pubs, and particularly this one as I mention it a lot. Yes this is the other Swan of my world the one I drink in, not the one that flies around the harbour.
This is where you will often find me on a Friday, sometimes a Wednesday and why the blog always gets updated late. You may recognize this from those TT photographs. I'm standing in exactly the same spot I take those motorbike ones from. Bit quieter as you can see. This is Saturday afternoon too, and you can see how how little traffic there is. In fact I had to wait to capture a car. Just wanted to show you some life in the town other than me and the birds. It's split into two rooms. One the Pool room and yes you can watch football(soccer to some of you) on cable in there. The other side is the lounge. Comfy sofas or you usual tables. You can even get a decent meal full meal or light lunch to go with your classic British pint of beer, larger, spirits or coffee. Lovely strong cup of black coffee. The British have a thing about quizzes and the Swan is no exception. In fact I used to play for the Swan Pub team in the Ramsey Quiz League. Too busy to now. Geographically this is the pub nearest my house(just out of town in the suburban bit) and that other great British institution the Fish and Chip shop. Handy when cooking is not on the agenda, and it never is on Fridays.
So not only my world today but all this week, will be a little more down to earth than my normal photos, not so much the pretties. Going for realistic snapshots on the run, dodging traffic and people, and trying to sneak shots of the very heart of the town. So this is the pub you here about I used to be a quiz team member of and stop by for the odd pint or spirit. It's actually more cream than yellow but the dropping sun cast a sunny yellow under poor light conditions. I like this guerrilla style photography of hide shoot and run. Some interesting results. More like city daily photo should be too, just a no frills photo.
Klaus, Imac, Fishing Guy, Ivar, Tom, Louise, Wren, Sandy and others are to thank for the neme. Click here for more my world's.

They look the same here and mostly are in yellow too! Do they cook your requested dishes too? Enjoy!
Sometimes they are the best photos. Looking forward to them. Pubs, by the way, are all about the informal snapshot of life ... what dialog may come, is anyone's guess ... but there is always something to be discussed, or just to have company.
No M. not requested dishes, but todays' special and a set menu. Quite a good choice for a pub.
Looks like a good place to socialize. Photos on the run can be an interesting slice of life. I'm sure they'll turn out great.
So I couldn't get some pancakes then? Bummer.
This looks like a wonderful place in which to end the week. I look forward to more of your 'hide, shoot and run' photographs.
I was expecting beams. This look very modern. the traffic lights really caught my eye and the tumbling clouds.
That looks like a good place to go and relax. I went for reality with my world this week. Not pretty but it is what it is.
PS when I said not pretty I was referring to mine. Even though you said you weren't doing pretties, your pub is quite attractive.
I loved reading and learning about your pub, looks like my kind of place. Always enjoy your photos and your words. Thanks for sharing and have a great week!
A pub's a perfect shot for My World: I like yours! Have a great time on your next night out-- Happy My World night too!
What I'd give for a pint, or even a pub lunch about now! I'd love to spend a Friday evening there with you one of these days... I think it would be a blast!
Which side do you go in? I think I finally know who you are. Smashing blog. You are a very talented woman.
Babooshka: Looks like a neat place to relax after a hard day.
As much as I am astounded by your photography it's the photos like this I enjoy most. It is 7/8 years since I went in here. Takes me right back. Got any of Nightlife, Bar Logo and the Stanley. Happy Days.
At least we know where to find you :)
Hope to see photos of the pub grub.
If you are buying, I'm lunching and drinking, and then probably flying like the swan, because I intoxicate easily! LOL
Beautiful pub!
Looks like an interesting place I would like to visit. I like the idea of you photographing the town and its people.
Did you have a favorite topic in the quizes?
The Swan, haven't been in for a few weeks now, maybe pop in this weekend seeing it and the Central (which I've never been in yet) are the nearest to where I live. Took the mountain photos on Friday. Yes you are rather elusive a bit like the Scarlett Pimpernell.
This makes me hungry for a pint of stout. Lovely shot.
Mmmm. Pub lunch. A draft of some kind. Decide not to go back to work.
I miss English pubs, particularly the old ones. Different atmosphere here.

Everything is different in Ramsey..
even the swan is yellow!!
Oh, yum! I propose a MyWorld reunion lunch, right there.
Your not so pretties are a delight too! Nice place!
Great looking watering hole. Looks like a perfect place to relax and have a few.
I'm sure you have great time there.
Thanks for sharing your world.
aah... the unwinder!!
It looks like the taller part of the swan has taken the addition under its wing. We have a lot of older homes in the US that became restaurants/bars so the look doesn;t surprise me. A glass and concrete structure with lots of neon lights would surprise me!
I'd love to have a pint there!
Thank you for showing your pub. It's an inviting pub and I'd like to have a pubmeal there and a cup of tea. I love English tea and a continental cup of coffee ( strong with milk and sugar).
It is very modern. I didn't expect taverns but something older looking.
I'll have half-a-pint of Guinness, please... LOOOL!!!!!!!
LOVE YOUR WORLD!!!!
Love, from sunny Lisbon,

Down to Earth, maybe, but its a darn great post .lol. If ever I make it there for a break, I'll pop in on a fri for a pint.:)
I love pubs and I had one called "The Swan" too when I stayed in London. I think over the 10 years my son lived there I had my cider in 60 pubs, I loved to sit in pubs and draw people !
what a great place! I really had no idea what a Pub over there would look like but I do enjoy being able to check it out. Thanks!
Identical to our local pub where you can find me often for lunch.
It has changed hands so many times and always delivers top notch beer. Well done for highlighting Ramsey.
I hope we'll see some photos of the inside, too! No pubs like yours here, but of course the Serbs have their "kafanas," which are similar in spirit, but no quiz nights. The British ex-pats do those here, in various locations, from time to time.
Looks like a great place for fish and chips! I could go for some now!
Oh I miss Pubs and pub food, culture, gossip, quizzes. We just have bars here and they aren't esp. desirable!
Oh I remember standing in front of the pub many many years ago while over watching the TT.
Down to earth photos are often the best way to share the heart of your part of the world, so I'm looking forward to those :)
A long time ago when I was young and traveling I worked in The Swan not your swan but one near Fleet street. I met my husband traveling and he moved to Oz....he misses English pubs.
"guerrilla style photography of hide shoot and run" Perfect! Although I do like to set up my shots and wait for that perfect moment of light, this run and gun approach to photography works so well. This type of photo-shoot approaches the concept of Lomography. Intriguing!
Now that you have shown us The Swan Pub, how about showcasing some indoor shots. Or, is this not allowed by the establishment?
A good pub lunch sounds great, but as I don't like beer I shall have a glass of wine with you!
I'll have a pint and a pub lunch, actually I'll just have two pints!
Its good to see your local :)
I don't even drink and I want to go there. Charming place. The quizzes sound fun!
Dusty - blow my cover. Sacry.
must be quite a watering hole :)
Thanks for sharing your world. I enjoyed the photo.
Have a great week.

I don´t drink beer but I have apple juice and it will look almost the same. Cheers!
So, when did you say they open? ;-)
This comment belongs here and not in the post below where I had posted it.
Great picture with good accompanying text. It is nice to know where you are on Fridays. ;)
Most of my shots tend to be the "guerilla" variety -- especially the cityscapes. Strange, I would have seen this as early morning rather than early evening, but I actually like the fading light.
And talk about split second timing! You caught the traffic light with both the yellow and red lit! (It's okay, just say you did it on purpose...)
This is blissful.
