Hide, Babooshka is here with her camera again!
Critters Sunday
I know the swan isn't really hiding from me. Well I presume it's not. We have camera show people but not birds, no the swan is of course preening itself. Not for my benefit for the image but I'm sure it did he/she some good. Spent quite a while doing this. On second thoughts maybe it was avoiding me. Of course this was taken alongside Ramsey Harbour again, actually on the Swing Bridge.
Following on from yesterday another image using light and objects to bounce colour. The blue highlighted in the rippled circles was reflected off a boat and stands out as the swan is so white. The same image with the swan in the centre of the shot isn't as dramatic, hiding the ripples and the blue isn't as emphasised, which is why I went with this one again a manual. Once you get the hag of manual images they are much sharper than auto. Forgive the next paragraph but going off at a complete tangent to internet thieves who are spoiling blogging..

Sorry for the above but some of us have had problems and I will not put up up with it.

I will Keep a check on the web Babs. It really is unfair.
is that critters neck GREEN ?
Heh.... cute photo and caption... those fellas are always preening!
~Michele~
They do manage to get in some strange looking positions when they are grooming...lovely photo as always.
I sure wish I could do that - LOL!! Great capture!
Great capture!
Can I ask how you found out others were using your blog entries? I saw another person complaining of someone pirating his work. I didn't ask any questions, but may now wish I had.
Babooshka: I love to get the geese doing funny poses but that is a neat look at the swan showing off.
Rose- This is an on going issue with some members of the City Daily Photo group who are having whole posts just re printed. I now have Google alerts sent to my email and use copyscape to check out my url pages. To me if we bad together we can stop them.
Great capture! It's too bad that you have to spend time trying to keep other people from using your stuff.
Wow, what a flexible neck! Happy Critters Day!
Would that I could scratch any itch in such a thorough manner!
I'm so glad that you won't stand for it. And that you know how to check it out.
Nice shot and I so appreciate your informative know-how on taking pics!
It's sad people take what isn't theirs.
That's a very bendy bird!
Here's wishing you a wonderful 2009!
I closed my blog because of rip off sites. It would be a shame if you had to go this way too. Go get 'em. Kudos swan!
Sakki
A preening contortionist, for sure.
So sorry your work is being pirated. Go get'em!
I don't think he was hiding from you more like flirting.lol
amazing head action ASandy
Thank you for the great photo moment (few moments actually) and the lesson about 'bouncing' colour!
You are an artist and your work should not be stolen. Aloha-
I like your picture of the contortionist swan. And thanks for encouraging me to keep experimenting with manual settings.
I'm sorry to hear about the problem you're having with pirates -- there's no other way to describe them!
I love this photo. Happy New Year!
Thanks for visiting my blog. Nice swan!
Babooshka, I've had the same problem. I don't think it's happened recently, but now I'm not so sure! I'll check with copyscape and see how to use it. Thanks for the tip.
Love the pic!
Your critters are wonderful. I have no critters here except my grandkitty that's deranged.
B, How did you know about my 200th post? I just figured it out the other day! I'm clueless! HA THanks for your good wishes and comments as always. I always perk up when you speak my friend.

Anyway, I loved that swan very much...
Very nice shot dear Babooshka ... And thanks for the information you gave hereabove about Google Alerts. I have tried Copyscape but I think this program is not capable of finding copied photos, it only searches whether your articles are copied or not. The french blog hosting service, Over-Blog.com, offers the option to disable the right click. But it could not stop my french photographer friend to copy a photo I had published on my blog. So we saw that disabling the right click is not a sufficient measure of safety.
I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR full of health, love, joy and success,
Cheers,
Müge
Fantastic shot!
A long neck helps for easy preening!
Interesting to learn about this copying "buisness", although personally I would not be too upset if someone appreciated my posts enough to copy them! However, it's of course not the way to operate, I agree!
Very good capture in deed. A nice stretch there
Beautiful balance in this photo between the circle of the swan's neck and the ripples in the water. Thank you so much for your comments. I'm such a novice at this. Your support is much appreciated.
"I see London, I see France" now why did that jump into my mind when I saw this photo??? ;) Nice image.
Ahaha! I'd say she was posing for you because she knows you're there!!
Swans are always my favourite subjects too! He is great!
Woof! Babooshka!
But somebody is stealing your work, arf! Mine gets stolen all the time and I am just a dog, for barking out loud! So I text my guru to zap ugly spells on them pirates. Serves them right. Go get 'em girl!
Hi!
Your swan is beautiful!! Thanks for sharing and thanks for stopping by my place. Have a great day!
Sherrie
Wow beutiful swan, I like the ripple effect behind. Excellent. Happy New Year. Anna :)
Happy NY 2009
he is beautiful and i wonder how it would be if we could move our necks around like that? TEHETEHE. My neck now hurts.
Thanks,m a little reminder to watch our compositions. Thieves are all over ruining our fun.
Nice capture it really is a contorsioniste !
Would that I were that flexible..
Great shot as usual
Wish I had this swan's flexibility. Great shot.
Nice swan---great neck action. Was he 'necking' with you. LOL
MB
I like the swan but it's the ripples in the water that got to me. Beautiful photo.
nice capture, very pretty with long and elegant neck. Visit me at travel and photography.
An "s" shaped swan.
Your photos are beautiful. I'm so sorry someone is pirating them.
If I tried that move I'd be permanently crippled. Amazing how different creatures are designed for different abilities.
Swan is a charming model, and "he" is aware of that, I am sure...
I am sad that among us are people who are not original, who are not capeable to have its own idea..so they have to steal other ideas
That swan should have its neck washed!
Oh how I wish I had any flexibility left..I would love to be able to pull my snow boots without any problem...of course I could lose weight, but that would be pretty drastic...LOL..sorry...giggle.. Love the photo..I learn a lot from you..
Thank you for the lesson on reflected light. It takes a keen photographer's eye to spot that.
I am so sorry you're being plagued by e-bandits. They should be arrested or at least kicked out out bloggosphere.
Oh, I'm sure it was, in fact, preening just for you and your photos ;-)
I need to learn how to shoot in manual... I have absolutely no experience with manual, and my fear of failure holds me back (I'm not afraid to admit my faults hehe).
I hope you are able to put a stop to the problems with e-bandits!
I think the rippled water really makes this photo very special. Too bad you couldn't get the swan to smile for the camera!
I did not realise just how versatile the swan's neck could be! Amazing! Wonder just how long they can hold such a pose or does back ache set in to force position adjustment?
