Almost a sunny day
Skywatch
Skywatch
This is going to be the last image for a while from the point and shoot Olympus stylus 300. I was aksed what camera it was so there you go. The sun is shines and while we still have a few weeks left of what is supposed to be the back of summer, the Nikon will be back out. It's been fun and I will keep the point and shoot handy in the handbag for a sneaky shot, but there is nothing like holding a bigger camera for shots like this. Saying that, the little camera does the job well enough. It's not so good with low light and rain like this, but then again you can get a sweeping glassy reflection of those clouds across the lake, a softening of the buildings in the distance and a moody blue colour naturally. That'll do for this week. Not as flash an image as usual, but a Skywatch image nonetheless. As you can see I'm still on the quiet side of blogging, but I did get a great quote from a visitor to these shores, and no it wasn't nice, but she did have a point. Put it this way. It always happens at the cinema.

not sure which part of the photo I like best, the rays from the sky, or the reflection in the water.
Well done.

I can't tell which time of the year you took this! I can tell though that the reflection on water is pretty awesome!
That´s a very lovely photo!I love it!Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend!
Really lovely photo Babooshka! Know what you mean by handling the Nikon - though for me it's the Canon. mmmmmmm. LOL
Great, moody shy, Babooshka! I have some of those today, too! Guess fall is on it's way! What happened to summer???? at least we had more than you seem to have had there so I'll quit whining.
Have a great weekend!

Not almost it is heavenly B.
Reminds me of the Blues Brothers when the Rev James Brown shouts "DO you SEE the LIGHT?!"

Wonderful colours, lovely reflections, great composition, amazing photo:-)
Happy skywatching.
"Almost" my big hairy white butt. If that's not heavenly, then I don't know the meaning of the word!
Gorgeous!
Very beautiful and luminous. Keep on blogging and sharing your photos, please.
What do you mean by "Not as flash an image as usual"?. Simple wonderful sky reflection. Perfect. Not the same as the colour in your last skywatch post on sep03 but still a keeper. It's great as times to just point and shoot with your point and shoot.
That is fantastic! It looks like the light is shooting up from the water! If you wanted a large print, the Nikon would be better, but for my screen this is greeat.
Beautiful atmospheric shot - I don't think the moment could be bettered.
This is a wonderful shot. Very other worldly.
I like the shot very much, regardless of the camera. It is always more about the person pressing the shutter than the equipment. Nice post! Great sky.
Not flashy? What?! That took my breath away. What an encouraging and uplifting shot! I immediately felt God's love and warm embrace, as I took in your shot... with the reflection bouncing His rays back into heaven, it was symbolic to me of the relationship we are urged to have, but I struggle with, where we reflect God's light... His kingdom on Earth... Beautifully touching shot. I am moved to tears.
what an attention-grabber this is. breathtaking too.
I really like the balance between sky and water with the band of land and the humanity between.
Love this one... there is lots to look at here. Nice work!
Heck I like everything about that shot. Kudos on the great picture.
Great sky shot. Beautiful colors.
as much as i love the sky, the reflection is amazing!
Nice lighting and reflection. It has promise, that the "almost" might happen.
A lovely image and beautiful reflections, the point-and-shoot did alright.
Great shot of sky and reflection ... your point and shoot did pretty good but then again it just might be the photographer that did such a good job!
It's Ramsey it never happens, promises just doesn't deliver.
Well, I think this a wonderful photo. I love the light coming through the clouds and the reflection in the water. This is the kind of photo I get very excited about...but then, I'm not as accomplished as you are.
It's a very atmospheric shot. I like the light and the soft colours.
Enjoy your weekend.
That's a lovely photo from a point and shoot; I think the Olympus and you did well!
Your last bit has me curious and I'm feeling a bit dim to ask, but I'm wondering: what was the comment, and what always happens in the cinema?
Fabulous! Need I say more?
It's a splendid photo, very dramatic and moody. I love it. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.
Looks really tranquil and picturesque enough to be a postcard!
The reflection has been captured beautifully as well.
It's funny, when your page opened I immediately said to myself 'moody blues' and then you used the term to describe your shot.
This is beautiful and the reflections are marvelous.
Love the convenience of the Point & Shoot but give me the big gun any time.
Lovely scintillating sky shot.
Even with P&S camera you get this beautiful landscape pic. Oh yes, the one behind the camera that create this.
Excellent shot. Such a perfect reflection you could have flipped the photo, maybe you did.
Love the colors and softness in this photo...peaceful.
The reflection you captured on the water is marvelous, B. I like the peaceful mood in the pic. Bravo!
Nice one B.
That's a beautiful capture. Such a restircted colour palette and yet the reflections are amazing.
Janice.
I love it when the sun manages to peek out through heavy clouds. And this is especially wonderful with the reflection on the water! Happy SWF and happy weekend!
I love this shot. Soft and beautiful.
A lovely image. Is it really that blue or did you play around with the white balance.
I'd say the little point and shoot did a crackerjack job on this one - look at that marvelous reflection!
Beautiful skies! I love the reflection, the rays, the clouds... all of it. You really do have a good eye.
Happy Friday!!
Babooshka: That is a wonderful capture, you can see the rays coming to earth. they show in the sky and in the reflection.
breathtakingly stunning!!!!
wow!
phew!
Mirror mirror on the wall..............MB
Babooshka, I think it's absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
I don't know what the Chinese writing says but maybe it says don't throw away that camera when get moody shots like this. Great job. Great relections.
beautiful colours - love the patchwork sky
That luminous, limpid reflection of the sky suggests that heavenly worlds go on forever!
Beautiful shot of the sky.
Thanks for sharing.
This is one of those shots that I looked at and went, oh nice. But I paused because I felt there was more than just 'oh nice' to be absorbed from it. And is there ever! It's like a perfect photo. Thanks for posting!
Babooshka, your photo certainly shows how good your Olympus is. Thanks for taking this photo and sharing it with us. I really like it. Glad you like the Icons on Parade at Portland Oregon Daily Photo.
WOW! I would love to bounce about on the clouds in the reflection.
Just wonderful, the reflections are amazing!
That's a really great skywatch photo! LOVE it. very unique
this is a beautiful image that appears like a painting with the light and glassy reflection from top to bottom. Thanks for your comments on my site about the photos from my photography tour to Vermillion Cliffs and Slot Canyons. I have many more coming up and the slot canyon photos are truly amazing. It was quite a trip and you in particular will like the slot canyon photos. I am still learning my Nikon D90 but glad to hear you like Nikon also.
Fantastic view !
Don't know how but I think the reflection is even more amazing than the sky itself! Fantastic!
this picture is breath taking. Oh my goodness, I completely am head over hills for it.
Just stunning!
The sky is wonderful, but the sky reflected in the water is amazing!
Point and shoot? DAMN! Why am I lugging this big thing around.Oh that's right.....it ain't about the camera it's the person behind the camera. Got it. You got it Sistah. Fab shot.
