STARBURST
Starting from yesterday I am starting a series of images taken on the beach. Not necessarily of the beach but what you can see all around. This is the view from Queens Promenade Beach. Those are the tallest buildings in Ramsey , St Paul's flats. From the beach looking up over the high promenade wall I could just see the skyline and get that great angle to catch the sunflare ans tip the lens to create the star effect. Don't do this at home. Naughty photographer should no better. Can damage your eye and lens. Just can't resist these shots.
A few changes to the blog.
Backlinks - Sorry but someone linking to some really bad sites. Also getting persistant bloggers linking to all post regardless of whether it relates to their blog. This is not how backlinks work. So they are off for now.
Comments - Comments box will only be open for a couple of days after the date of the new post. After two days I will keep existing comments and disable the comments box. Had lots of spammers dropping by on older posts and placing those long spam comments that link to spam blogs or again some bad sites.
I did say last week this would happen and apologisies but the few spoilt it for the many. So if you want to comment do so soon (including yesterday's post) as the box will be disabled soon on this post. Another thing is I have had my blog reproduced again elsewhere so I need to look into that too.
On a lighter note Babooshka and Ramsey Daily Photo is now on facebook. It strated as a joke after a flippant comment but now now it's getting it's own fanbase. It's actually really useful as I can put vids and clips of the island on there and other stuff not right for this blog. Everyone is welcome to join and drop their own link on the wall to their blog. I am the Puppet master.
Join me this week on the beach here. If it rains too much though forget it. It is Ramsey after all.
So comment quick, and join us on Facebook. Todays Vid on Facebook is Back Door Slam
Thanks to the skywatch team once again and everyone taking part. Go see the them.

That looks crispy blue, B! How cold is winter on the Isle of Man?
Thanks for sharing the note. I've found mine linked to a bad site too. One site at least. I find owner's approval feature at comments very useful to filter spams.
I like your starburst in this photo. I have to confesss that I've been a naughty photographer at times and done that as well.
Sorry Babs. Some nutters about. You and the sunflare.
Nice sky - of course!!
I don't know if your problems may come from the fact that your blog is "too" popular? I have hardly ever had such problems, but have also very few followers compared to yours. I withdraw one follower once, as it (he) looked "funny" and and never had commented on my blog - thus unknown to me. Have you checked - do you "know" - all your (446) followers?
Cool photo. I sometimes take photos with the camera pointed at the sun too (I look away - the reason I wear specs/contact lenses today is from looking at the sun as a kid), though I don't usually get as good a result as this.
Hi Peter,
I have blocked 12 followers. I have noticed CDP bogs, blogs of note, and yes popular blogs this kind of thing happens. Ways and means to deal with them though.
I should like to join you on the beach! The photo is great. I don't think I can do that! Do you use a special lens?
Reader Wil - no special lens, hood or filter. It's manual, slightly underexposed so the sunflare would star not flash. This is weird writing on my won blog.
There's some bad peeps about...
Love that shot.
Chin up b.
I've made comments on older posts (7 or 14 days depending on the blog) moderated rather than closing comments altogether.
Yes I've pointed the camera sunwards from time to time to see what came out - nothing as good as this mind.
Cool photo. I took a photo but used the branches of a tree as I was scared I might go blind!!
I found my blog on that Feedage site that you had mentioned in the CDP Forum. I emailed them and they removed it. Thanks for drawing attention to it. Although my blog isn't as popular as yours I was plagued by a spammer, even with word verification. I flagged them and it has stopped. I know they are out there but we will win!
HI Marley,
I think you get more visitors than you realise. I think it was being made "blog of note" on blogger that has attracted them. So feedage got and and you got them. Copyscape is pretty good, but get google alerts too.
Cheers,
B.
A bright star in full daylight..
You are gOOOOOOOOd!!!
WOW!
Beautiful!
Love it! :)
Lovely shot as always.
Picture is great and I will be warned by someone in the know "not to do this at home kids".
Seems many of us have caught colds from some sites. I was knocked out for a while, by a trogen which my security delt with very quickly.
Makes you more cautious though.
It is great having your posts, so thank you.
Love that flare of light! And thanks for the tip that such direct sun shots damage the lens! I really did not know this! Though, I guess, common sense may have stepped in to give me a nudge! But I too love trying for those angled bursts of light! Very addictive because the result tends to be a surprise!
love that photo............it's a pain those idiots who spoil it for others, I have to moderate all my comments now, thanks to some horrible comments.......

That's a perfect starburst. Love it!
A sunny day!!! How great!!
Great photo. Sorry you had problems.Aloha-
Dulce-It was yesterday. It was just to wet today our usual island weather.
Gorgeous day and a fantastic photo! Thanks so much for sharing!
I think this is my favourites among your pics so far. It looks like you could just fall into that sky, and the sun is star-like and magical.
Thank you Ruby. I purposely ditched the sunsets for a straight forward artistic shot. Intend to show more like this, more of what I like, IE the seaweed underneath.
That makes me eyes hurt just looking at the picture with the black background. Its a nice shot though.
Sorry about the spamers and such.
That is brilliantly beautiful! No getting enough sun around here this winter. Sorry about the spamming problem.
Perfectly done. When I try this I get reflected circles in the picture. I may have a scratch on my lens.
Very nice... I once melted the glue cementing inexpensive lens elements together but I was using a telescope at the time. No, I didn't look through it; I projected the image onto a white paper. That's one thing I can do with the old film camera that I can't with the digital. Not much of a loss, actually!
Naughty, but nice shot.
Oh the spammers and the sickos.
I have comment moderation on posts older than a few days so I can still get comments, but can just delete the trash.
LB,
Hang in there. Tall building for a small town.
.
.
What a very wonderful shot with the sunshine captured in such a great way! I really like it...
Is that twinkkle twinkle little sun? Nice shot. Must be so nice to live in a place that is not dominated by sky scrapers.
I know what you mean about the spammers they are really a menace - one of them posted 57 comments on my site. What also works well What works well is "comment moderation" - bloggers sends an e-mail and you can accept or reject the post witout even opening up your site.
The starburst is wonderful; be careful, tho.
Great photo. How tall are the buildings?
How magical.
lovely image!!
you are paying the price of popularity and fame!!
Very Nice!
Ah, perfect for Skywatch, Baboosh!
Wonderful effect, love this SWF.
Hartmut
Nice sparkling sky! At first I thought the buidings were a cliff.
bel effet, cela rend bien.
Very beautiful. Great capture.
Happy SWF.
Spec-TAC-ular. Love the sunburst.
Sorry you are having nutcase troubles. MB
That was a beautiful photo. Have a nice weekend!
Well done B.
Fabulous shot although no matter how quickly you try to shoot it, it takes a while to see again.
Awesome shot!
Beautiful shot. I'd forgotten what sunshine looked like.
Try the word verification thing, it seemed to deter the spammers I was getting.
Well caught - do things carefully and it may work out right.
A pity you have had to do all that! On the other hand it is a sign of your popularity!
Great photo for sky watch friday, thanks for sharing your wonderful view of the horizon and sorry to hear your blog has been attracting that sort of attention.
I have an idea what your problem is. I will email you privately.
So beautiful! I really love your picture.
Have a nice weekend!
Looks like a UFO coming in for a landing! Beautiful photo.
I like your crystal clear sky!
What a stunner...
Sorry to hear the problems you have been having... there really are some sad-sacks out there..
Great to hear drom you.. and I will keep popping by to follow the beach views.. great picture below this.... it will give me nightmares.. :o)
Comment moderation after 2/3 days seems to work. I've picked up a couple of spammers like that.
The backlinks: I still can't really get my head round the way this is being used so am not bothering. There's enough stuff round as it is..
Your photo: love that starburst so dramatic..
Get rid of backlinks, check out your followers. I closed my blog on blogger went over to wordpress. No problems.
Beautiful shot...
I love it...
HSWF:)
Not just the eye and the lens, but the sensor and the shutter curtain too! (Just trust me on the shutter curtain one, okay?)
But it is hard to resist, isn't it? Especially when you know you're gonna get something like this.
Looking forward to seeing the beaches of Ramsey!
Sweet photot
Wow, your sun is like a brilliant diamond! Beautiful B!
Thanks for all the warnings. I'm not sure how the backlinks work really but mine are enabled and I haven't had an issue I don't think. Creepy about someone stealing the cdp blogs as their own.
Wow! That is a sparkly photo!
lovely shot...perfection :)
i so enjoy your blog.
have a wonderful weekend.
I'm with you... it's so hard to resist these gorgeous starburst shots! This is truly terrific! Hope it didn't damage your eyes or lens.
OMG! The TT is so fast. Thanks for the link hun.
Oops! Cool shot.
Isle of Man TT Lap link added to the facebook group. Memebers only. To view join.
First of all I'm sorry to hear about your problems, Babooshka. It's such a shame some people ruïne the wonderful SWF- and blogging pleasure.
You really shot a wonderful picture again. It's a little dangerous to make such a shot, but when I see such an opportunity, I can't stand it too ...
Hello Isle of Man! GREAT PHOTO!!
I couldn't remember where Isle of Man was located and so conducted a quick geography lesson with myself to update. What an fascinating place!
Just a suggestion...maybe put a map or geo-background about your Isle on your blog for sad sacks like me who would like more info about your amazing corner of the world.
Thanks for visiting my blog as well!
H alwaysateahcer,
I used to have a map on with all locations but had to delete re to corrupted images and re my present other thanI trust to be a safe source.
oh, you're really a risky photographer. but nevertheless, the photo is really stunning!
hi J! Been out and late for posting...anyway, its a good move about the spammers etc. of course a lovely sky shot as always. Must cost a lot to live on the flats and must have a great view of the beach from up there! Happy swf, happy weekend!
Lovely shot!
I got ur message, I too am getting spam comments. Thanks for cautioning.
That sun is a great shot & the sky is so clear - not like what we're used to seeing around here lately!
Oh wow a sunburst in the middle of a clear sky. I have only just managed to get one if I peek through a tree. Now you set an enormous challenge. Is the problem worse on blogger than other sites do you know? Maybe start a new blog, we will follow you.
I have had some recent spams on older posts...did not know how to correct it and now I do thanks to you! I can't access facebook except in the evenings so I will try and follow that but if not, I will still be here! A very lovely skywatch today.
Love the starburst!! Thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog! I'm going to add you to my Facebook.
Ah! The beach! You lucky! Cool perspective!
great shot of the sun!
Glad I had time to post;) It's sometimes hard to resist shooting the sun, I know what you're talking about. Suppose it's not that bad, unles you're using those really ultra long lenses or digiscoping. But better to be safe that sorry...
ps. Hope they decide to keep the pier, it's something that cannot be rebuilt after demoing.
Waw, the sun, I love it !
Have a nice weekend !
That's a spectacular shot. Happy Weekend.
Beautiful starburst!
Happy Friday!!
The star sun is wonderful and I understand that you are tempted even if its "naughty"!
ballure beach side of the breakwater.... cool... nice shot.
Wow!
Hi and sorry to hear that you have these troubles. Takes the fun out of blogging.
Thanks for your visit to my blog and your friendly comment.
I love that star effect. Gives this a sort of fairytale effect.
I'm on facebook so have to look into that project of yours. I hardly ever get time to visit my profile there these days but I guess this sounds like a lot of fun.
Hope your commenting troubles will end with these new measures.
Star is really cute Babs.
Facebook- Not you aswell!
Beautiful starburst. Thanks for another lovely view of your isle.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful sky shot from your isle! Very warm and comforting for those of us stuck in a deep freeze in the US.
Happy SWF!
