My 100th post just happened to coincide with ABC Wednseday and one of the hardest letters to work with. I was tempted to have xenophobia aimed squarely at those idiots who email me to tell me stop the blog on the grounds I'm not from Ramsey, but I didn't want to tar perfectly good people with an image, just to illustrate the point. Instead I found this happier pic, from the archives which suited my needs for today.
Xenodochial then? What a funny word! It is according to varied sources an obsolete word, rarely used word, Greek, and/or Southern Hopitality. Xenon of course is Greek for stranger. Xenophobia is the fear of strangers, naturally. But was of this curious little word? Xenodochial literally means friendly and hospitable to strangers. What a fabulous word to sum up The Isle of Man TT Races, Blogging and the CDP community.
The kindness of strangers who have consistantly supported this tiny island blog, encouraged me to continue, emailed me, blog awarded me, linked me, and even put me on the Community favourites list. Fleetingly of course. Again I wouldn't have known this unless one of you hadn't emailed me.
So, in a way X turned out to be a fortuitous letter. Xenodochial is alive and kicking in the blog world, if not in my own home town. Cheers.

Congratulations on the 100th post!
Keep going....
I just learned a new word. Great picture to go with it. I love the motorcycle shots, so you couldnt go wrong there.
Babooshka, many congratulations on your 100th! And I like the thoughtful post - let Xenodochial rock on, everywhere!
Best wishes from Chennai!
Congratulations on your 100th post! And I learned a new word too.
Great new word which should be used more often and certainly sums up the TT.Nice pic as well, caught both rider and pillion waving right on cue.....
I'm always delighted to learn a new word! What are you going to come up with the next time X rolls around?

A very interesting post; xenodochial is certainly a new word for me. Congratulation on your 100th post.
FÉLICITATION pour ton 100th post, le post de la victoire avec ces deux motards. bonne continuité
FELICITATION for your 100th post, the post of victory with these two riders. good continuity
Congratulations on your blog celebration of 100 posts. I learned a new word today but don't think I will get much use from it until I learn how to spell it. lol
Did not find the word in my dictionary, but know the xeno in xenotransplantation when operating a pig heart to humans.
If healthy, do anything to save lives
Congrats on your 100th post! Your posts are always informative and interesting. This X word is new to me. Thanks for the explanation!
Well done on your 100th post & an x-cellent one it is too.
That certainly was a new word on me.
How sad that people can't appreciate the good publicity you're giving the island, even though you're not a "native". What are they doing to promote the island they want to keep so pure and unsullied? Grrrr.
I wondered if I'd get the same kind of abuse, for the same reasons, but people have been very happy to say good things about my blog. Shame on the small-minded xenophobes who can't see beyond their prejudices.
Fantastic X post... and well done for the 100th post. I look forward to your 1000th now.
Excellent post...that's a Hyabusa by the way, you can tell by the light!
As a first time visitor to the TT I have to say how true this post is! Great stuff! Congratulations and keep it up!
A really 'X'cellent choice, B. And a Happy Hundreth to you.
Wonderful! I've learned another new word! And congratulations on you 100th post.
What a great word but what unpleasant people.
Congratulations on your 100th post.
xenophilia is the word I've always used as the antonym to xenophobia but your word is now no longer obsolete.
Congratulations on your 100th post.
This is a great blog that I once found and always like to visit.
I hope you don't mind but I made a little change on my last post ... someone put your name there as the winner of an award!
A new word to me and a very friendly, outgoing choice to post. I like it!
I like this X,
Troy
Congratulations, Babooshka and long life to your blog.
Good word and well done on the 100the post!
I can't understand why people would object to you writing a blog just because you aren't 'from' Ramsey or indeed the Island, makes no sense. Surely you are bringing the Island to the attention of a wider audience. Do these people who complain bother to write a blog themselves to promote their gorgeous Island, I just don't understand...
Congratulations on your 100th. That's a difficult letter to work with. Strange you should have anyone who isn't happy that you blog about your island. Keep it up, you've got a great following now.
Congratulations! Glad you took the high road! Great study of the root word and its variations!
Congratulations, Babooshka! You are such a pro at this that I thought you'd been at it much, much longer! Looking forward to 100's more!
Congratulations andthanks for yourkind comment!
I agree with your humanist post !
Miss Yves
What a great X word... Xenodochial... I've got to remember that so I can impress everybody at the next party I go to...
Actually, sometimes I have less fear of strangers than I have of the people I already know... Wonder what the word for that might be...
X-cellant post to mark 100. Ramsey locals must be pretty small minded. Very sad. Personally, I like your style :)
High fives for you, Babooshka! Happy to be here today and congratulate you on your hundreth post....a job well done!! Beautiful image and great choice for the occasion - in the groove and riding high. Thanks for sharing your Isle of Man with all of us.
Thanks too for the new word. Nearly chose xenophile for today, but xenodochial has a nicer tumbling sound off the tongue and far more interesting.
Well done Babooshka! Brilliant X and another new word I know. I suppose the island must have what I call a "small village mentality" in that you have to have had family there for at least 200 years before you "belong"! Sad, but true. The village where I was born, brought up and the only place I ever lived as a child does not consider me "local" or "one of them" because my parents were from out of the village. Sad, but it is my home and yet, they don't consider me part of them. That's a long time ago anyway and passed now - I moved on (literally and mentally). I just mention it to empathise really. So ignore them. You are very much part of the place. It's as much your home as theirs.
Congrats on your 100th post. I just got to 100 too, and if I hadn't posted about it early, it would have been on ABC Wednesday. ;0)
I like very much your interpretation of X, and even more the additional comments.
Therefore I have at last done what I have should done a long time ago - added your site to my Links (if you don't mind?)
PS I'll look forward to the stones!!
Of course these people who are complaining about you writing a blog are, presumably, reading your blog. If it is so terrible to them why read it?
It's like people who complain about tv programmes, if they are going to offend you, don't watch them in the first place.
Keep up the good work!

First off - congrats to the big "100"!!!!!
And for the work finding a usable "X". I couldn;t find one - so I made mine up! ;)
Cheers, Klaus

I still have a way to go before I have 100.
You have a very interesting blog.
Congratulations on your 100th post. Ignore the naysayers and keep on blogging.
oh do i ever sympathise! 'xeni' or stranger / foreigner. i get it a lot. a lot. this comes from the same people who pride themselves on their 'filoxenia' - roughly translates to 'friend to strangers'. hmmm. :)
Mazal tov Babooshka! Enjoy your second hundred posts.
Love xenodochial.
Hello Babooshka. I have fallen behind with my ready, so I have just reached this post. Well done on 100th post, and it's lovely that you get so many comments and, I assume, lots of visitors. Looking forward to the 200th post. Congratulations again.
A lovely colourful picture of a bike in a non-racing environment.
