ODD SHOTS MONDAY - FREE BIKER BIBLE ANYONE?

Whenever there are fetes or outdoor events of any kind on the island you will usually find something a little different. So nestled amongst the face painters, the temporary tattoos, and the burger vans I found this wonderful bike. On closer inspection I actually noticed what this stall, if you can refer to it as such, was well selling.

The Christian Motorcyclist Association UK were as it turned out, not selling but giving away books. Well just one book, the Biker Bible. Now I won't go into details, as it's not my thing, but here's the wiki link if you want to know more about the very friendly bunch of bikers for yourselves. One thing it does prove though, people are like books and you really shouldn't judge either by their cover.

As for the photo it's done exactly the same as the Tynwald shot. Desaturate almost all the colours apart from the blue, then pump up the saturate on the blue hues left in the pic.

What a wonderful blog! The sleepy little siskin looks so sweet. I'm glad he recovered to fly another day.
Biker Bible. Does Noah refer to his wife as the Old Lady, perhaps?

How did you isolate those colours Babooshka? I like the cameraderie bikers often show among themselves ...

Thanks for letting us know how you've done the colouring. I must try that one of these days.

Simply "wow"..........

Très interesant!, Babooshka!

Unlikely juxtaposition: bikers and the bible!

"Louis" says (and he isn't being his usual smart aleck self here) "God bless them!"

Well this is the first for me...Bikers and Bibles, nice blue color, and glad that bird was able to fly off.

The blue looks great among the shades of gray.

j'aime cette bichromie, c'est une bonne idée de faire ressortir que le bleu. bravo

I love this two-colour, it's a good idea to bring out the blue. Bravo

Bikers and Bibles..... well there's nothing new about this at all,
Moses rode an old British motorcycle, as evidenced by a Bible passage declaring that "the roar of Moses' Triumph is heard in the hills."
and lets not forget that Joshua rode another Triumph with a hole in its muffler: "Joshua's Triumph was heard throughout the land."

Bible and Bikers :O)

Very good and I agree about judging a book by its cover...

Great shot! I think the blue adds just the right touch! Great subject too! Two things you normally wouldn't asociate if you didn't take the time to look past the surface. A great reminder to us all to dig more deeply.

The Christian Bikers have an incredible elaborate cross on the back of their leather jackets. It is a very odd sensation coming up behind a group of them I can tell you!

I saw your name (Babooshka) on a blog I was reading and just had to check out your blogs since Babushka was my knickname in college.

Fabulous photos.

Very interesting and brilliant to play with the colours on the photo.

It is rather odd I must admit as at first you wouldn't put the two together that's why we should never judge a book by its cover. Great how you've brought the blue up like you did the red the other day. Something I've wanted to try and I followed your instructions from your previous post but got no where at all....Doh

very nice picture! i love the colours. wow, how generous of them to be giving away free books! and you are right, you can't be judging people by their looks!

I'm sure I might LIKE the Biker's Bible better than the King James Ver. or the Jerusalem Bible... :)

Love the highlighted color..have to learn how to do these things...

Great shot ~ love the color effect. Too true about not judging a book (nor a bike, or bible) by it's cover... Powerful lessons here.

Oh boy... That reminds me of an episode of Six Feet Under where a biker's wife came to the Fisher brothers to organize his funerals. It was pretty funny - although I realize this is completely pointless if you are not familiar with this series.

Wow, I like this even more than the red. The guy's jeans in the background is a lovely powder blue.

That is such a lovely biker group!

I heard a joke that said Moses rode an old British motorcycle, as evidenced by a Bible passage declaring, “the roar of Moses' Triumph is heard in the hills.”

I don't know which version or chapter and verse, but it's kinda funny anyway.

Joy said...

Cool! Would like to ride one of those.

Many thanks for your visits to Norwich Daily Photo. I hope that you enjoy the colours of summer on my blog.

Cool shot. I just discovered filters on the camera and how to draw colours out. It has some great effects.

Ilike your line "people are like books and you really shouldn't judge either by their cover." Speaks volumes as we a were different faces throughout our daily routine. Perhaps it is here were we find our real selves.

I am still searching for the best way to create black and white images. Thank you for this tip of desaturating rather than PS simple black and white conversion.

The blue really works well and the whole makes for an interesting photo. I'm away now to give it a try...
You come up with some quirky photos...do you carry your camera all the time?
