WHITE BRIDGE RAMSEY, POYLL DOOEY NATURE RESERVE

For a fellow blogger excellent you should visit, Jackie GLASCOW

Another Ramsey Landmark, and one of Babooshka's regular haunts is the aptly, if not imaginatively named White Bridge. The bridge is situated in The Poyll Dooey Nature Reserve and crosses over the Sulby river. The hill you can see on the left in the distance is Skyhill as in the battle which I have covered before in the viking posts. It's basically a single file pedestrian only bridge, although bikes and motorbikes can be walked but not ridden across. It really is quite a narrow, sturdy but perfectly formed walkway.

When looking for information about this bridge, again, I either came back to my own links or just found the vaguest reference, or uncorroborated info, which I need to confirm. Even images seemed limited. The Poyll Dooey Reserve is just the same. This is a specific area that has been set aside as a nature reserve/wetlands site for wildlife and yet it's almost as if it's some dirty little secret the island is ashamed of. To say I am exasperated by this is an understatement. I have a few ideas where to find text to post with my photos I regularly take of this place, so I will elaborate more soon. So Jackie, I will be showing so much more of my beautiful reserve, which has already featured in most of my skywatch shots, litter shots and river shots hopefully soon.

Oh yes one more thing. Can I suggest you trawl the internet for your own images. Let's just say
some people steal images for their own ends, pass them off as theirs, or unknown source and re use them, er sometimes in blogs would you believe! I am onto them, and it won't be pretty. Copyright means hands of, pay, or ask permission.

I like this B&W image of yours. The perspective and the contrast, those are rendering, really good.
Sorry to hare about the image being used without your permission. That is common issue in blog world and somehow I have to take a risk.

"Louis" understands your frustration when trying to find specific information for a post and you can only get sketchy details....

Jackie does, indeed, write a fine blog.

Thanks for the tip about the creeps.

Hello Babooshka. Your photos are so dramatic and the black and white is beautiful. Cheers from Barbara in West Sacramento, California.

Hi Babooshka,
You have so inspired me that I'm thinking I need to take some black and white photos too!
This bridge seems like the perfect place to walk across while surrounded by nature.

As usual, you have a fabulous photo and interesting text. That someone has seen fit to take something from you and pretend it is his/her own--if I got the drift--is disgusting.

Every time I see one of your B&W images I think I should revert my images & se how they look, as that is one of the few photo editing programmes I have - maybe later today, or tomorrow - well, I am a procrastinator.

To be honest I'd never thought of any one stealing my photo images.
I do occassionally use public ones on Flickr my-self but always say so.
And, when I 'borrow' from friends - usually doggy ones for doggy quotes, I do a credit & leave a comment on their blog - it's now become a long standing practice of mine.
But, I'n never think of taking, say one of yours without asking first but I guess others would.
BUT not now...

Have a good day!

Lovely. For such a small island you've sure got a lot of interesting landmarks. This reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on now... I'll get back to you on that one!

Oh yes, this means I'm back, particularly on JJS where I've gone a bit overboard this morning.

Ciao love!

I really must try black and white too. I would not think to have green areas in non colour photos. Funny bridge. Dramatic image.

I love the B&W, is this an old haunt of yours because this is where you dump your old partners (watch out Barker)?

I hate trying to find info on something and only finding what I have done is the only thing online. I also have seen my pics on you tube in a slideshow created by some wacked out wierdo.

I'm fascinated by the name of the nature reserve.

Nice shot, Babooshka. The white of the bridge works very well for you. The perspective has been intensified by the dimensions of the image you have used. Good thought ...

Another beautiful shot! Made even more lovely, I think, by the black and white! It makes the bridge pop out against the landscape. No wonder you love it here!

It looks so serene, and I like the idea of a pedestrian bridge this long and pretty.

However, when you have to compete with a name like Poyll Dooey, I can understand why you'd like to keep yours simple, like White Bridge. ;)

Bloody nerve of some people!

A dramatic shot. Has something sentimental about it.

Many thanks for your visits to Norwich Daily Photo. I hope that you enjoy the colours of summer on my blog.

The White Bridge is very pretty.

My digital is in the shop being cleaned. I have planned to dig out my old Nikon F2 and do some b/w and/or color photos until I get it back... I love b/w shots like yours.

I agree! The polite thing is to ask and then credit the photo to the original source.

Sweet bridge, I love it.

I hate that some people steal pix. How upsetting!

The chipmunks in the Porkies were eating from our hands! :-D

Whitebridge or as it's locally called The Whitey is a great place to visit and you've captured it brilliantly. I adore Poyll Dooey as it's an oasis of calm. You wouldn't think that it was once a dumping ground for all of the rubbish Ramsey produced. One massive tip and not so long ago either.......

This looks so idyllic, maybe it's good to keep it a secret.
Digital Image thievery is as old as -- the Internet. If someone wants to use an image, they should ask permission and credit the artist. And in your case, when your livelihood depends on the images you produce, they should be buying your work.

How lovely - thank you so much for the link and for your kind words. I'm a bit embarrassed, as I'm really just a "happy snapper", but hey, a compliment from you is worth a heck of a lot and I am very chuffed indeed!

Just to let you know I have awarded you An Award. Feel free to ignore, or come and collect it over at my place (second July 22nd entry). Hopefully it will get you a few more visitors anyway.

Nice black and white photo.

People stealing your photos?! They obviously don't know who they are dealing with!!

Great photo and looks like a great place for a relaxing walk.

I understand your frustration at the lack of available info. I run into that a lot also. I like to think that future generations will have all these city photoblogs to help solve that problem.

I absolutely adore this photo. Black and white -- my first love, ever since the old Canon 35mm SLR days. I just loved playing around with exposure in the camera and the darkroom. I'm still getting used to the digital world.

Thank you for commenting on my new daily photo blog http;//southpasadena.blogspot.com

It made my day today!

Cheers!

Laurie
