SKYWATCH FRIDAY - RAMSEY SUNSET OR NORWEGIAN WOOD
Last week I mentioned dragging Gary out at 10pm at night in my scruffs looking more Wuthering Heights than Babooshka, over the nature reserve behind the house to catch this sky before all the light faded. This was what all the fuss was about. No tripod, no time to get the best position, just brutal gut instinct, and snap away until the battery or the light went completely. We don't get these kind of Scandinavian skies often so I wasn't missing this beauty. Poor old Gary though, bless, his hay fever really kicked in as the pollen was intense. One thing suffering for your art, but getting other people to is well taking liberties. He has got his own back though with making me look at his hideous G8 BBC cartoon all week. All I will say is bring me the heads of the endangered species.
My deranged laptop is back to normal. Firewall situation. I have to say I haven't used the best images I took. They are already spoken for. I may be able to show you them later, one day, but at the moment they're in a state of flux and being used for a little project I'm working on. Can't say too much at the moment. As for the weekend It's Ramsey Rocks and Party in the Park, and hopefully dry weather for those party, party, shots. I still can't believe we are supposed to be having bellydancers. Not with this weather!

Nature can certainly roll out some stunning colours in skyland. Love these shots!
What a fantastic set of photos and I missed it all being at work. Ahh well you can't win them all can you. Roll on Saturday and the good weather when we can Rock in Ramsey. Can't wait
WOW! That is an absolutely stunning sky. Could never get used to how late the sun set in the northern hemisphere and twilight is very strange.
Wow, all these without a tripod, you are amazing. Beautiful!
What a fantastic sky Babooshka! Well captured.
Mine's up too.

Gorgeous colours in these sky photos. Yes, the Scandinavian skies are incredible, aren't they. But these definitely compete!
Babooshka, I could go to your Isle and get a permanent crick in my neck looking at those skies all the time. Gorgeous!
Very dramatic colors. Great shot.
Fabulous, Baboosh, fabulous! Seems the best rewards come from a tough struggle and from the sounds of it you both did that. Hope you get the break in weather for the rest of the festivities. As always, thanks for sharing!
Wow, well worth the trouble. Great colors.
Oh wow you have some drama going on in the sky. Wonderful photos. Happy SWF.

Oh how I love these colorful sunset shots - ***Magnificent***
Sacré bleu! Dining on "Louis's" relatives! Raw no less! "Louis" is shocked, SHOCKED! Not to mention outraged! “Louis” isn’t sure which is worse:
a) Eating his relatives raw!
b) Eathing his relatives cooked!
c) Eating his relatives at all!
or
d) All of the above
Quelle horreur!
“Louis’s” only comfort is that it wasn’t HIM on the plate!
long suffering other half...I hope I remember to use that one! so funny!
Your skies are awesome, thank you Babooshka.
amazing colors in these photoes... great shots and a wondefrul 'gut instinct!'
stunning colors...very dramatic shots!
What was so Scandinavian about it? Anyway, it looks simply excellent. If I had to choose one, I would take the first.
the sky in ramsey is far more dramatic than our own here in crete - what amazing colours you have managed to capture, i envy you fo rhte views you get (and even the rain...)
Beautiful, dramatic sky. Glad the laptop is fixed. Look forward to finding more about the project.
I thought I'd left you a comment but cannot find it! Well your photos are really amazing. The sky surprises us always.
Wow - stunning sunset. Much more dramatic than my efforts on the same evening posted on 7th July. Maybe I should have waited a few more minutes or just kept snapping away.
Well done!
Well worth it, every minute.
well if these are the also-rans the others must be tremendous.
They're powerful photo's even if they are not THE photo's.
The colours are stunning.
I don't often say it, but WOW !
Thank you for your kind comments on my blog earlier. And I will second everyone's wow those photos are beautiful.
Don't you just love it when nature puts on a show like that and even better when you have a chance to photograph and share. Thank you for adding to sky watch friday.
Wonderful! Although I sympathise with poor Gary, those shots had to be taken.
Your brutal gut instinct is dangerous and spot on! These Scandinavian skies are TREMENDOUS! I want to see a belly dancing next ;)
Great shot. Lovely colors
Mine came out blurred. Amazing!
So this is where The Beatles got the name for their song!
These are amazing, the clouds and the colors are so dramatic. And you say they aren't even the best ones? WOW!
If these aren't the best shots, nature must have really put on a show for you.

The next time I consider posting a sunset, I will first check to make sure you haven't! LOL. Oh well, mine are out there already! THESE ARE FANTASTIC. I remember the first time your Ramsey Daily post caught my eye it was a sunset on the island and I knew I wanted to see more! THANKS!! Joking aside, keep raising the bar for me!
These are just gorgeous and if you don't think they are the best of what you took, the others must be awesome!
My SkyWatch Here
We call that a rainbow sherbet swirl sunset in my part of the world. Thanks for sharing it!
These are magnificent shots of the sky on fire over in your neck of the woods. I am so glad Gary suffered so we could reap the reward... sorry about the comics though... sounds like a fair trade though. Beautiful. Glad you went with your gut.
Well, it wouldn't be Sky Watch Friday without a great photo or two from you... Very nice...
Hope you are enjoying a great day.
Best regards, Don
Stunning! theres a very strong mood here--- really spectacular.
Beuatiful sunset. Lovely color in the clouds. A perfect compliment to my sunrise, which might have been taken around teh same time given the distance involved across the Atlantic since mine was right at dawn... There a fun thought. :)
Great shots. Beautiful colors.
Congratulations.
as a great sunset and the right to a good weekend!
Babooshka: Love the fire in the Sky show you put on for SWF. It was so wonderful for SWF.
Those colors are just breathtaking
:-Daryl
wow these are beautiful
Wow--well worth the effort!! And bless that Gary.
These are incredible shots. Really made my day. Thanks!
Great shots of the sunset! My impression of your spot in the world had lots of weather changes and would give many opportunities for colorful skies. I'm glad you shared these photos. Thanks for you comment on my moon montage.
Beautiful! I love skies like this. The last place we lived even though it was in a town centre we got beautiful sunrises, sadly not so where I now live. I'll be sure to check out your blog again (which I came upon from Scarlets Culture Garden) it's just my cup of tea.
Sarah.
Hey ! Thanks for your comment, LOL! I am a little weird though!!
These skies are just amazing! I could stay out all night and day sky watching.
filters?
Wow, fantastic shot. It was worth the trek into the wilds!
Everybody already said what I thought! Very nice! Hope you have a great weekend!
These are not the best? They're breathtaking! I love those deep colors.

Stunning sky captures, Babooshka!
Ha! now I thought you had capture these photos at the norwegian wood music festival in Oslo.. LOL
I saw this sky, but I didn't think to photograph it. Wish I had it's smashing.
Love the colors. Great blog. Thanks for sharing. Mustang Mike
These are simply enchanting- beautiful colors- oh my...
whew, there is such depth to those clouds I am akmost craning my neck! wonderful, and I bet Gary got lots of tlc for suffering so nobly for the artistic cause!
in the concrete jungle that is athens, it is rare to see the sunset at all. but back home in Australia, i used to take sunsets like this for granted. these photos are so beautiful and reminded me of home. thank you :)
God made a wonderful display there! I enjoyed it much, hope you did too!
Just beautiful! Wonderful series of photos.
Excellent excellet and excellent again... Ha! .. just nipped on the old PC for a while. I'll catch up again in the week..
Tom
Hallo from north Norway. Last week I saw all Sky Watch Friday photos and they were all great, and I hope to see them all this week too. I love to travel around the world this way.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful sky watch and have a great weekend!
Makes me feel warm from the inside out.
I can personally confirm that this is exactly what the sky looked like because I'm Gary - it was marvellous and these are great pics, but I can also confirm these aren't the best of the batch.
What a beautiful sunset!
Beautiful and dramatic!
Real drama.
well I didn't get to visit anyone's sky watch yesterday, as my truck decided to get a crack in the radiator, and I was at it's bedside at the truck hospital til it got better. :-)
But better late than never. Awesome sky watch, and a noble sacrifice from your partner as well.
this is yet another amazing sky watch! I really appriciate each of the comments you leave me on my skywatch! thanks!
Well - after reading your Panda post I decided to 1st check here. Why would anyone think they were not real? Gorgeous is what they are.
And btw. don't worry about Trolls.
Ignoring them is what makes them go away. ;)
Cheers, Klaus
I'm doing as kjpweb--checking in after reading the Panda post. Mmhmm. Ignore 'em. These photos are gorgeous--gorgeous!--and the nearly 100 photographers commenting here happen to know they're real.
Wow! stunning sky.
Great work!
Just ignore them.
You know what's what.
Those fiery orange streaked sky is stunning!!
Oh wow! How magnificent these shots are! Thanks for visiting my blog and I'm looking forward to my new venture in the city daily photo blog posts.
I'm with the others who came here after Camera-Critters ;-) I am a huge fan of yours, my friend, and it really upsets me that someone would be so rude and ignorant and they would actually cause you to consider giving up this blog! I would certainly miss your gorgeous photos and your inspiring talent! I know it is easier said than done, but please realize that they are simply jealous that they could not capture such beauty as you did.
These shots are absolutely gorgeous beyond words. I had a sunset experience this past Winter which left me standing in the middle of the road so awestruck, with my breath taken away at the beauty I was witnessing, that I actually had to consciously remind myself to take pictures of it, because I just couldn't turn my eyes away.
P.S. Sorry for the long comment - I tend to ramble sometimes - especially if I'm very opinionated about something, like I am about your talent.
Stunning photos! Simply awsome. And as a fellow to Gary suffering hay fever, I probably would have braved the pollen swollen climate to grab these pics. A pint of Guinness just maybe a just reward. or, other beverage of choice.
Love the color of the sky .. nice capture !
