WHO'S THE MAN IN YELLOW TRUCK?

"Do you want to take my picture?" said the man in the yellow truck.
"Ok if you don't mind people as far as America to Australia seeing it," said the photographer.

Out and about on the dullest greyest day in history. Well not quite! There I was snapping the sweep of the road when the man in the truck asked the jokey question, to which came my jokey reply. Yes I am a photographer and proceeded to tell him all about the Daily Photo. I'm not one to miss an opportunity like this, especially as the locals usually run away. So my first official local
person for you. Say hello to Sean/Shaun( yes I didn't get the which one doh!but if you let me know I can use the right name) out and about working in Ramsey. He even got out to shake my hand.

Actually he was a great source of info. Ramsey is going through some changes presently and me and my camera have been documenting them. For instance yesterday I photographed something as it was literally being knocked down. I think the workmen thought I was a complete nutcase. We discussed what was happening to Ramsey, the proposed new plans or no plans, what may or may not come to town, all within the space of a couple of minutes. Then he was on his way, and I was on my way my to my next photo area a demolition. Glamorous huh!

So thank you Sean/Shaun for taking a couple of minutes out of your busy working day, to help out this working photographer. So a genuine local for you to say hello too. I hope to bring you more as nice and friendly as this one.

So has anyone asked you to take there photo for your city daily photo?

That's a great story to go with the photo. Tell Sean hello from Knoxville!
When I was visiting family in Pennsylvania, I had a few vendors in the farmers market ask me to take their picture, and I did - digital is wonderful because I can show them the results.

LB,

That could be downtown. Say Hi to the guy from the guy in Boston working construction. LB do you have any celebrities there. Burt Reynolds made a film your place.

That looks like a tonka toy.

I haven't been asked yet, but I'm thinking of going down to the National Mall one day with a sign that says, "Seeking 100 Strangers to Photograph for My Blog About Washington, D.C." That's probably too long, though, eh?

Great picture of the big boy in the Tonka truck!

Nope, never been asked. I have gotten weird looks though. Out here in the suburbs of Minneapolis, we d not see many tourists with cameras. So for a local , as myself running around with a camera, people tend to wonder. Heck, I wonder too.

That yellow truck adds that color and bright touch. there's a yellow theme here with the yellow road markings and yellow equipment stacked beyond the fence. Good to meet this happy worker.

B. For us construction workers it's swell to be recognised. Hi to the guy I can relate to.

OK, D.C. is apparently ratcheting it up in order to get ahead of me for our "100 STrangers Challenge" we have going. Come on B, and join us. It really makes you get up your nerve and go forth and approach those stangers ! I have had a lot ask me and I gladly oblige. When you get over the initial fear, you find there are some great folks, like your guy, who are flattered to have you take their picture. I love the diverse photos I have in now have in my "collection".

I don't know the chap but I certainly know the place you are talking about. Things are certainly changing around those neck of the woods. I got funny looks yesterday and a few grunts when I went to photograph the new swimming pool.

He looks very English. (I've got to stop saying that about your photos - but he does - like a friend's English dad). I've had a guy jump up and wave to have his pic taken. & I've taken 3 photos of people I've asked if it's OK - 2 young women & one young man. Both women asked What for? like it's for something very weird.

lovely to see local people in your shots - always a risk if they don't want their photo taken (i've had some refusals)

Hello Babooshka !

And who is this man ?
Smile...

Babooshka, go to Burma/Myanmar and everyone (even the monks) want to be photographed without expecting anything from you! They are the most amazing nice people I've ever known!
I don't remember being asked anywhere else (when money is not involved).
Say 'hi!' to Sean/Shaun cause he really seems to be a nice guy! :-)

The houses are coming down thick and fast. What is to replace them? Good to a local. The world can see how friendly some islanders are. Great job highlighting Ramsey and excellent photography.

Beautiful yellow shot. Great report.

In French, "tu veux ma photo ?" is not really an invitation for shooting it's more or less a threat. And it could be a fight starter.

Cameras have a way of creating fun little conversations. Great story.

Hi to Sean/Shaun from France...Love his yellow truck driving that would cheer me up...
It's rare I ask anyone, I try to do it surreptitiously mainly because I'm too lazy to explain all the blog thing in French

Dear Babooshka,
I am new here,so I don't have enough experience with photographing.......but it is rather interesting to see the combination of scenery and people on Your sites..people on photos can also "say" something about the place where we live...

That's really cool! If I had a yellow truck I'd probably want to be photographed with it as well...

I never had a volunteer, sometimes I ask though.

Yes I have been asked several times. Construction workers come up and ask for their picture to be taken. I often go scrambling about looking for pictures to take in places that are changing. Blokes on stag nights also readily pose for a picture. Trouble is I don't take very good pictures of them. I need to learn a bit more about taking portraits. Back to the manuals.

A real live local! Well done! I was starting to think you were the only resident! Lol :)

The contrast with the grey day and the bright yellow is cool. And his smiley face makes it all the more cheerful!
