CARRION CROW

The motorbikes and bikers have waved goodbye to the island for another year so it's back to the business of my bread and butter photography, namely the birds. This is actually an archive one.
I had to have a day off from the camera, so I trawled the bird pics and found this one, which is one of my favourites rather than others. I am quite often at odds with the buying public when it comes to my own images.

For a change this isn't one of the cute little colourful birdies that are on a kamikaze mission to fly into my patio windows that I nurse back to good health, but a carrion crow I snapped taking a break in Mooragh Park. Quite what fascinated him so much with this tissue is beyond me, but it certainly distracted him long enough for me to capture his likeness.

Well my busiest time is over, but Barker's is ongoing. My living room floor is still covered with painting of footballers and politicians. Gordon Brown you are in for a shock today thanks to Barker and his wit and wisdom with paint palette!

Quite obviously Mr. Crow (or Ms., as the case might be) is simply wiping his beak with a handy napkin.

The buying publics' taste is indeed often surprising. Don't get me started on that subject :)

Black crow with white Kleenex, very nice shot! But when I first saw the title, I thought uh oh, what kind of torn dead body are we going to see in this crow's beak? It was a pleasant relief.
Carrion crow, what a name to have. Wonder if there is a ravenous raven. hehe

Where else do you expect a big crow to keep its little crows? ha!

Here, in Oz, we have Summer and Winter, etc. I guess you have racing and non-racing seasons.

It stands to reason that one would take a day off and that's a jolly good thing.

I reckon this crow would be thinking of building a new nest, now it's Spring, (or is it yet Summer?)

Love the B&W and, that it came from stock ! - and thanks for popping in to Adelaide; you are always welcome down under.

Our crows are hoodies - very occasionally we see a black Carrion Crow. Our special crow on Inishfree was the Chough and I don't have a single picture of them. They were like sparrows around the cottage at times. A very amusing bird.
I didn't know the TT was on until too late as I put the MGP on !

The B&W treatment really suits him. He's so black, and the tissue is so white. Really good photo.
Thanks so much for your very kind comment on mine. Coming from you it means a lot to me.

Maybe the tissue paper was laced with drugs...or sugar...

Great photo!

I like this photo of a bird I see everywhere, though not always with a napkin. :<) Bibi loves to make them scatter when she comes across them eating something on the ground, but then is often dive-bombed by the angry crows. I'm always afraid they'll go after her with their beaks, but so far they've either just swooped low over her or even bumped her!

Crows and ravens have such such a storied relationship with humans, and their shape and behavior fascinate me as well.

A fantastic photo! I love crows, but we have so few of them anymore. I think this is due to the West Nile virus, perhaps! He does rather look like he is delicately wiping his beak with the tissue.

Tossed out tissues, nevermore. Crow shots are difficult as crows do not like to be seen. Ravens are even more difficult. But I do like this image.
