I hadn't realised until yesterday that today was not only the usual Friday Skywatch, but also August Theme Day - Metal. Doh! So I decided to combine the two with this one from a dawn shoot of Ramsey Swing Bridge. I take hundreds of images a week of this transporter bridge, and every time it's different. In fact my intitial post was a full length shot of the bridge on a very, very dull day. It did have the backdrop of the mountains though.
Today is Daily City Photo Bloggers' Theme Day: Metal

Awesome double entry!! Beautiful bridge shot, looks like the Glory Of God shining through.
Nice Sky Watch ... I really like the light flare on the bridge!
Have a wonderful weekend of beautiful skies!
My Sky Watch Photos Here and Here
Wow! Glad you changed your mind on the shot to use. This is just breathtaking.
I went for a double whammy too, but yours is a hundred times better! I like the way the sun looks like its just landed on top of the bridge! Happy Theme Day and SWF :)
an amazing shot!
This is a unique photo and love your ideas. Happy SWF.
Awesome baby!
Great photo.
Clever.
Thanks for the visit,
Troy
Spectacular!
O how I love your pics! There is always some extra special magic! Delightful!
I agree with greyscale. You are a very clever lady.
That's an interesting shot. Very beautiful.
If sunrise ever wins the theme day vote, I'll have to pass - I never get up early enough! Nice!
What a great, great shot! I love how the sun reflects off of the bridge.
Fantastic!
great photo! as always! (:
I'm too lazy to get this kind of photo.
What a beautiful photo! I love the bridge with the sun shining so brightly! Just beautiful! Happy SWF and a wonderful weekend to you!
Gasp... this is amazing... very beautiful! I so much love this photograph!
Mountain Retreat Photos
Oh my, it's beautiful backlit by the sun.
Photo très réussie ! Le rayon de soleil frappe tout de suite le visiteur. Chaud et lumineux.
What a beautiful shot of the bridge and the sun
Nice bridge shot. Looks pretty hot there!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Great bridge shot! It looks like our Harbour Bridage in Sydney but with a spectacular dawn sun rising!
that's brilliant.
Good shot fitting in to both categories. I specially liked the sun's rays hitting the bridge's railings and reflecting across.
Thank you for visiting. It is interesting to combine this soft colour and light with the intricate work of steel and bolts. Great shot.
Good representation of the theme! Excellent combination with skywatch!
Love the combination! I used sunset and shot from a bridge ... it's set to post at 12:01 my time. Thanks again for the Arte y Pico ... I'm thinking hard about who to pass it on to!
This is a great photo, the composition is amazing. I love the lines and the rays of light, perfect.
Steel structure against an evening sky glow: a perfect capture for the Metal Theme Day and sky watch, Babooshka!
Such a striking shot. Lucky you to have combined Theme Day and Skywatch! This is beautiful. You said you take many many shots of this bridge. I think that is what I need to do more of. Revisit special places and keep taking photos. Maybe I will end up with some this lovely.
Babooshka: What a fantastic SWF photo.
What a beautiful photo! Well done.
Great how you combined the two! I do that sometimes too! :-)
Beautiful. I'm glad I didn't go with my first idea and use a bridge.
Stunning
Beautiful and a good "two in one". Happy August!
Top notch photo for sky watch.
Cheers
Awesome picture!! i love the sun coming through the bridge! Interesting post too!!
quite a stratling combination. nice effect. love it.
Breathtaking image.
Really splendid the effect of the sun across the bridge.
What a sunshine!
Great bridge and wonderful play of light on it.

Thanks! Happy Friday!
wow, very special!!
wow, what a great photo! The sun gave a dramatic effect to the iron bridge!
You must have a really good camera cause it is hard to get a good shot of the sun rays like that without going blind.
Beautiful photo!
Absolutely superb!
It is amazing.
I'd never think to take a shot directly into the sun, which shows I'm amatuer photographer.
A terrific image.
That is just awesome. I am glad you were able to combine the two themes thais way. MB
Nice photo for both themes. Love the way the sun shines over the bridge. Very lovely. Have a nice weekend.
great combined theme shot - I think quite a few us are doing the double challenge this week with some interesting results.
Thanks for the comment! You have chosen a great picture! Beautiful with the pink sky and the silhouettes of the bridge.
Woah, long list! Unfortunately I'm off to the orthodontist so I can't stay and sift through em all! LOL!
We have a swing-bridge which was swung for the first time in my life a couple of weeks ago - no ships really come anymore so it was weird to see it open. Also meant that my route into town was blocked and that was a faff. (Sigh)
Ciao
Scarlet x
Wow..judging from the long list of comments, guess you won't be surprised to see another that says this is a very beautiful shot, fulfilling both themes.
Thanks for sharing!
superbe coup double pour les thèmes, c'est magnifique et cela laisse rêveur
superb double blow to the subject is beautiful and it leaves dreamer
Beautiful shot of this bridge and great you combined Skywatch too.
Amazing shot and great effect!
Happy Theme Day!
You combine the two in a great way!
That ray of sun really adds to the metallic feeling of the pic :)
Wonderful choice for combining the two — it's a beautiful shot!
What a beautiful composition!
I like your choice of the dawn sky. Great combination.
excellent shot! I love the combination you have..you have a great idea..thanks for the visit and happy weekend..
Mmm ... yep ... I'd say combining the two was a good move. Good shot! You take hundreds of shots a week of this bridge - that is bordering on tragic you know, don't you?
Mountains - your island has mountains - not hills but mountains. I somehow thought it was but a wee speck of a place!
Oh, I have already visited you before! Yes, I still love your photo!
;P
Regards, Maria
Wonderful photo!
Another nice shot! Great combination of Theme Day and Skywatch! I love your photos of the bridge, and yes, they are alol different!
What a great photo. Thanks for sharing.
You chose well.
Sydney Daily Photo
You have both themes and present them both excellently. Great choice.
WOW Babooshka! What a capture, this really is perfect to me. Thanks for sharing this.
It is a strange color for a sky. Very nicely combined !
An old saying comes to mind; Pink sky at night sailors delight. Pink sky in morning, sailors take warning. In this case, the color appears peachy, and I hope this is a night view for the delight of the sailors. Oddly, i forgot about theme day, yet posted a metal pic.
Oh NEAT!!! <--note multiple exclamation points
That is one helluva lens flare.
(My lens flares always look like awkward blobs.)
That's brilliant... looks like molten metal :)
Beautiful shot. Nice color and sun.
Awesome!
Very lovely picture. I love the silhouette of the bridge. I understand having hundreds of shots of the same thing and how each one can look completely different. I do the same thing. Thanks for stopping by and taking time to leave a comment I truly appreciate it.
You win the sweepstakes award -- two in one and a very interesting photo to boot.
Definitely an interesting perspective - you selected a wonderful photo of the bridge & got in SWF shot too. I am squinting right now - the photo pulls you to Ramsey so well.
Very cool photo! You have some interesting photos on your blog- love the purple house shot!
What an excellent combination!!!
And seeing the number of comments you have I am not the only one to think so!!!
I would not mind seeeing more pictures of that bridge!!
Have a good WE.
Great photo! Way to get both themes in the same shot! Happy SWF!
Good combination of the two themes. I didn't make the effort :)
Way to combine your efforts. I like it when it all works out like that. Love the sun shot through the bridge.
Spectacular shot! Even stark metal objects can look beautiful if you catch them right and you certainly did. Thanks for dropping by my site.
Excellent combination of themes and a fine image, Babooshka!
"Louis" didn't do the DP theme day this month - he's still very busy in a work project and his blog time is limited. He really appreciates your frequent visits.
Lovely shot there Babooshka. I forgot to sign up for Theme Day, but will do better next month!
Did you use any kind of filter for this shot? I just have a point'n'press dinky camera so know nothing about this sort of thing. I'm very happy with my camera and will wait till it dies before I replace it, but I'm thinking I might pluck up the courage to get a DSLR so that I can play with more complicated bits and bobs.
A stunning photo! I like it very much. And that amazing list! Thanks for visiting earlier.
That was a nice combination - well caught and thought!
Great shot. what more can be said that hasn't already been said. Have a great weekend.
Ahhhh.... Wonderful light!!!!!!!!!!
Happy theme day!!!!!
And thanks for your lovely comment!!
Beautiful! Perfect way to capture both themes!
Happy Theme Day! And have a great weekend.
Janet
Boo!
Yes, it's me back on line,... just on a spare PC. and I'm fighting fit... I will be back in over the weekend to catch up on all thats been posted here but in the mean time I thank you for todays double meme post.. it's perfect for both and each one is represented so well with the one shot.
My brother worked in a local steel milland this picture with the girders and the red of the sky reminded me of when the steel bars were being rolled into shape and the sparks would be flying all over the workshop floor.. great picture.
Tom
I'm not surprised you keep shooting the bridge. The girders make great patterns, and the light you caught this time is superb!
Hello! Wow, that is beautiful. The sky is such an unusual and gentle colour.
Lovely shot.
Have a brilliant weekend!
Babooshka,
Hat's off to you for this extraordinary and beautiful photo.
Wow such a beautiful striking shot
Hundreds of images a week?????
What? I must admit it's a cool bridge -- and your photo is fantastic. The idea of the bridge moving...cool.
That is a gorgeous photo. I love old iron bridges (I wish the old High Bridge in Barrow was still around but it came down in the mid-60s.) The thing that struck me most about my first time in the US was taking that train up the banks of the Hudson, and all the wonderful bridges!
Excellent photo of the bridge and sunrays.
great shoot have nice weekend thanks for the coment on mine site
Nice entry. Mine is up as well. Hope to see you there! Have a great weekend!
