THEME DAY- METAL AND SKYWATCH, RAMSEY SWING BRIDGE

I hadn't realised until yesterday that today was not only the usual Friday Skywatch, but also August Theme Day - Metal. Doh! So I decided to combine the two with this one from a dawn shoot of Ramsey Swing Bridge. I take hundreds of images a week of this transporter bridge, and every time it's different. In fact my intitial post was a full length shot of the bridge on a very, very dull day. It did have the backdrop of the mountains though.

Today is Daily City Photo Bloggers' Theme Day: Metal

that's brilliant.

Good shot fitting in to both categories. I specially liked the sun's rays hitting the bridge's railings and reflecting across.

Thank you for visiting. It is interesting to combine this soft colour and light with the intricate work of steel and bolts. Great shot.

Such a striking shot. Lucky you to have combined Theme Day and Skywatch! This is beautiful. You said you take many many shots of this bridge. I think that is what I need to do more of. Revisit special places and keep taking photos. Maybe I will end up with some this lovely.

You must have a really good camera cause it is hard to get a good shot of the sun rays like that without going blind.

Beautiful photo!

I'd never think to take a shot directly into the sun, which shows I'm amatuer photographer.

Thanks for the comment! You have chosen a great picture! Beautiful with the pink sky and the silhouettes of the bridge.

JAMJARSUPERSTAR said...

Woah, long list! Unfortunately I'm off to the orthodontist so I can't stay and sift through em all! LOL!

We have a swing-bridge which was swung for the first time in my life a couple of weeks ago - no ships really come anymore so it was weird to see it open. Also meant that my route into town was blocked and that was a faff. (Sigh)
Ciao

Mmm ... yep ... I'd say combining the two was a good move. Good shot! You take hundreds of shots a week of this bridge - that is bordering on tragic you know, don't you?

Mountains - your island has mountains - not hills but mountains. I somehow thought it was but a wee speck of a place!

It is a strange color for a sky. Very nicely combined !

Rob said...

An old saying comes to mind; Pink sky at night sailors delight. Pink sky in morning, sailors take warning. In this case, the color appears peachy, and I hope this is a night view for the delight of the sailors. Oddly, i forgot about theme day, yet posted a metal pic.

Josy said...

Oh NEAT!!! <--note multiple exclamation points

That is one helluva lens flare.

(My lens flares always look like awkward blobs.)

Very lovely picture. I love the silhouette of the bridge. I understand having hundreds of shots of the same thing and how each one can look completely different. I do the same thing. Thanks for stopping by and taking time to leave a comment I truly appreciate it.

Excellent combination of themes and a fine image, Babooshka!

"Louis" didn't do the DP theme day this month - he's still very busy in a work project and his blog time is limited. He really appreciates your frequent visits.

Lovely shot there Babooshka. I forgot to sign up for Theme Day, but will do better next month!

Did you use any kind of filter for this shot? I just have a point'n'press dinky camera so know nothing about this sort of thing. I'm very happy with my camera and will wait till it dies before I replace it, but I'm thinking I might pluck up the courage to get a DSLR so that I can play with more complicated bits and bobs.

My brother worked in a local steel milland this picture with the girders and the red of the sky reminded me of when the steel bars were being rolled into shape and the sparks would be flying all over the workshop floor.. great picture.

That is a gorgeous photo. I love old iron bridges (I wish the old High Bridge in Barrow was still around but it came down in the mid-60s.) The thing that struck me most about my first time in the US was taking that train up the banks of the Hudson, and all the wonderful bridges!
