SKYWATCH FRIDAY - RAMSEY ISLE OF MAN

This image looks a little wierd to me. My minds eye keeps telling me this image should be a in portrait mode rather than landscape. It's the tree! Those side branches look like the apex of the tree, not twigs branching out from the trunk. It is the right way up though as you can see by the blackbird perched on one of those branches. Still got the rolling clouds looming over the island, but with optomistic patches of blue sky waiting to burst through. Always the same before the tourists arrive. The Manx Fairies save the best weather for them.

Today the town was inudated with those tourists, here for the Isle of Man TT Motorbike Road Races. You couldn't move down Parliament Street, the main High Street, for Motorbikes and leatherclad bikers with mainly German and Italian accents. Ramsey goes cosmopolitan! I've giving them a chance to settle in before I start waving my camera at them and snapping away for the blog. By the way, I have ordered a custom made T. Shirt to wear during the TT. One of my bike pics on the front and "Ramsey Daily Photo" on the back panel. If this doesn't explain to the locals what I'm doing snapping around Ramsey, then I don't know what will!

If you want to particpate in skywatch see Tom at WIGGERS WORLD.

I love your cloudy sky, and think the tree branches are the perfect contrast.

I love the shot, with the big fluffy clouds!! I think you should order hundreds of those t-shirts and sell 'em to the bikers! You could add a little something under Ramsey Daily Photo, like "I was shot by Babooshka on the Isle Of Man!"

Awesome clouds!!

It's a very welcoming photo: the tree seems to be reaching out to the clouds.

Have fun taking photos of the races.

Very nice photo.

I also like how you snuck another bird into this picture. These clouds are lovely. Looking forward to seeing some brave tourists. RDP tee shirt is a great idea too.

This is lovely. It seems like the clouds are having a conversation with the tree.

This is a really nice photo, framed on one side by the trees and the other side by the clouds... very pretty.

I know what you mean about the angel of the tree and sky. But the pine in the back ground brings it into perspective also, along witht he bird.

It's a pretty sky though and the tree kind of frames it.

Hope your day is wonderful and less crowded!

I like it, the tree branches really stand out against the blue sky.

I say it's a great photo.

Very pleasing photo. I can visualize a lot of movement in the sky but stillness in the branches.

What dramatic clouds - and the tree branches add a haunting effect. Perfect for Sky Watch!

Well done! Cool bird to give it perspective.

funny, because the very first though that went through my head when I saw this pic was "wow, this is so well balanced" I think it is great the way it is, with the branches poking out into the clouds! And the T shirt is a brilliant idea for a City Daily blogger, to save endless explanations, put the url on too so people can jot it down if they want to visit! (Just not across the front, it will be hard to separate the pervs from the genuinely interested viewers!)

Lovely, Baboosh. Like the contrasts of silhouette and open blue sky. just returned from travels but, still getting those rolling, looming rain clouds here too. Good luck on capturing the big event there on the island.

I love how this is framed! Such nice contrast and the crow is watching you!

It is creepy, while looking at it and not yet reading your text I did thought so. Perhaps because the sky is so blue and the tree has no leaf, a contrast to being alive and dead! Great post!

(I hope to see you btw on I spy Sunday =)

I like the photo. I think the landscape orientation, branches, and clouds suggest motion. The color is fantastic. Really like the moody, maybe even threatening ambiance.

Wow! Your SWF photo is lovely but I'm just so fascinated by the rest of your blog. Again...WOW!

Catherine said...

Weird ? You said? and beautiful, I love the contrast in colors. Branches make a good frame.

I love the tree and the sky! Especially when you said in the beggining that it should be portrait, I really tilted my head and said! yeahhH! and then as I looked back, i still think it's good! Your photo is really great whatever angle you may look at it!

Have a great weekend!

Tree limbs curving up to meet the sky? Gorgeous shot, but now all I can think about is all those men bikers in one place! (wink)

Take some good photos of them :)

Lovely complex sky scene there. Well done! :)

Thanks for your visit, too!

Beautiful - I'm glad the blue sky wasn't completely defeated by the clouds!

I just phoned my dad and interrupted his TT viewing. He says that lots of things have changed (he was there in the 60s) but he still recognises lots of things too. I let him go back to his bike 'fix'!
