Say hello to George posing nicely here showing his best side. George is a bit of a celebrity as he escapes from the Wildlife Park, here on the Isle of Man, to Ramsey, usually the promenade, (where this pic was taken) on several occasions. Why he only flies to Ramsey is a mystery, must be good fishing for pelicans. He is not the first escapee pelican, that honour goes to Scotty in '98, and I'm sure he won't be the last. Scotty though made it to Scotalnd, so obviously a more adventurous pelican. Actually I think George just wanted to feature in the Ramsey Daily Photo and was a bit miffed I have photographed so many other birds. He's make a great odd shot sometime. Whole new meaning to a Pelican Crossing!

He doesn't look like my idea of a pelican!
Or maybe it is just me because to be fair, I have never seen a pelican this close.
Good choice ;)
Hello George, nice to meet ya.
Great photo, he looks so proud to have been photographed by a Master.
Babooshka: Very nice capture of George and his story. Great photo.
Hello, George. You are a handsome devil and I know your beak doesn't hold more than your belly can. You are a handsome dude and I suspect you fly away looking for the opposite sex.
I posted a picture of my furry mother for Mother's Day. She was so special we considered her part of our family.
Great catch Babooshka but I hope that George next time reaches his aim! LOL
This PERFECT photo is the one I liked most this week! A great shot really! Bravo!
George must keep in contact with his adoring public! :)
How wonderful to find such an exquisite photo of a beautiful bird that is also my namesake!! He obviously needs to be free!!
Surely a baby would fit there no? Great shot! George seem to pose for you! ;-)
Fabulous shot of an awesome bird
Great shot! I usually only see pictures of pelicans standing on a pier post or some such thing. He's a beaut!
This picture of George is great and I enjoyed the story to go with it! Thanks.
Gorgeous!
We have ducks on the field outside our house which is pretty cool - think they've escaped from the nature reserve. George is amazing!
Ciao

Hello George, nice to meet you!

Am struggling to visit this meme - no order!
George is REALLY cool! What a GREAT photo for Camera-Critters!
So "Scotty" made it to "Scotland"? How appropriate!
What a fun CC post!
Did you hear on the news about the lady who had a pelican swoop down on her as she lay sunbathing? Phew!
If I go to a wildlife park...once...i ll take 10 000 shots. :D
Excellent photo.
George is a very handsome pelican!
This photo is great and reminds me of a trip to London. I had never seen a Pelican before (I know!) and I first saw one last year in St James' park in London. I couldn't believe how big they were! The Pelicans in the park were in the news as they had eaten a pigeon (whole!) in front of a group of shocked school children!!
What an interesting story of the great escape babooshka, love the picture.
interesting story and good photo.
thanks for visiting my blog! :)
There is always something interesting in your picture. Sometimes a story behind it, or perfect angle in your shot. And I like this shot too.
So George the Pelican escaped, did the Pelican Police ever catch him, and return him home?
Cute picture, he is so relaxed, just sitting there I guess with his belly full;)
Oh hello George! I think you are right: he looks a little resentful. I'm sure he'll feel much better when he'll see a printout of your blog featuring him as the star of the day. So what will happen to George? How will he go back home? Or will he stay and make friend with Scotty?
Superbe ce portrait, j'aime beaucoup l'angle.
Superb this portrait, I love the angle.
he looks a bit forlorn to me but now he's a star!
Beautiful.... :)
All of your photographs are beautiful... gorgeous shots! :)

Babooshka great shot! George really posed for his spotlight!
George proves one thing...you can't keep a good pelican down. Nice portrait of him.
Hello George! Your Pelicans look very different from the ones Down Under!
