RAMSEY LIGHTHOUSE

I will not have a cable for my laptop until next weekend, so in the meantime all images this week will still be of Ramsey but from older stock. You may notice my real name appears on them as these are my copyrighted images from my sales site. I will answer emails and comments as and when I can. Basically when I can get access via the and only internet cafe or my partners laptop, when it's free, which isn't that often.

The island is full of lighthouses, very individual to each part of the area. This one stands on Ramsey Jetty North Jetty. It is distinguishable from the other Jetty Lighthouse in Ramsey by the weather vane that appears atop it. The lighthouse was buit in 1854 and why it has a weather vane atop I do not know, but that's the Isle of Man for you, full of quirky little ideas and structures that set it apart.

So, what quirky little items do you have in your area and does anyone else have a lighthouse with a weather vane?

Awesome photo!! Love it.

And, yes, the Lighthouse in Kissimmee has a weather vane on it, with the image of a bucking bronco rider!

I love weather vanes and lighthouses however we have no lighthouses in Seguin. I grew up on the eastern coast of the states and loved the lighthouses of North Carolina the most. Especially on Ocracoke Island of the Outer Banks.

Very nice weather vane. And beautiful bright blue sky. Love this one too.

Beautiful blue sky, very nice contrast of colors between the sky, the white of the lighthouse and the rust-red of the weathervane.

Yes the red is very vibrant and sweet. No lighthouses here in Vegas, however we have a large half size imitation of the Eiffel tower that acts sort of like a lighthouse.

As lighthouses warned sailors not to shipwreck on the rocks, so the city known to preachers and hobos as the devil's porchlight warns visitors not to stay too long.

That’s a really intense blue in the sky, and the contrast in colours is fantastic.

The only lighthouses I have seen are in pictures, so no lighthouse in Terrell. We do have an octagon shaped house. Does that count as quirky?

My town has an octagon shaped house, not me.

The lighthouse is spectacular. Love the red color on the wind vanes. They really pop in the photo.

Beautiful colors on this one, and I like the composition. No, no lighthouses here (of course here there is no sea) but I can't recall having seen them anywhere in the former Yugoslavia that had a coast.

The red weathervane is stunning!

Thanks for your visit and comment recently. Had a great time at the rally, but it's nice (as always) to get home. Hope you get your tech problems sorted soon :)
