Rainbow Sherbet Dip Anyone? Cracking sky . Never had one since like this. Been here 6 years too. As you may recall I grabbed G, and the camera(not that he wanted to be dragged out at that times of night with hayfever through a field, bless) and bolted over to the Poyll Dooey nature reserve about 10pm and rattled off about 50 images as quick as you like before the last light faded. Not my usual leisurely stroll over to the meadow. Actually broke a sweat to capture these, which is not good for the world's laziest photographer you know!
The last time I showed the others from the night someone commented that they call these skies Rainbow Sherbet Dip skies. I have seen that same statement a lot recently. I like it. I can so relate to the dragging one's loved one at great haste to grab some amazing light before it goes. Generally puts me in a big debt in the brownie points dept. Still I'm sure you can pay yours with a few JD's or what G's tipple is. All I can say is it was worth what ever it cost to race across that field to grab images like these.

The colors hover at both ends of the spectrum (red + purple) of light. We are in there, somewhere in the middle.

Very striking...the colors we get in the skies depends some on the dirt and other junk in the air. These colors were common when we were in Colorado last September.
