GLADSTONE PARK, RAMSEY, ISLE OF MAN

A couple of week ago I posted the back view of Gladstone Park at a distance. This is the close up view of one of the main buildings. The bird flying is an optional accessory, but it has been pointed out they frequently play a cameo role in my images even when they are not the main subject, I thought I would continue the trend. I digress. Back to Gladstone Park.

Despite the vandalised window and the spot of damp it's a buildings that's still in use. In fact the Industrial Park houses business as diverse as the Post Office Depot, to Chrystals Auction Rooms.
It's a real Art Deco kind of building and I for one want to see it remain here. I posted a similar article before about what is too happen to this place and rumours are still rife. Everything from demolishing the park and building a new Tescos to a new Housing Estate. I did have some feedback from a few people who are not in the know but "know a man who is" but the rumour mill is still grinding. The most frustrating thing is now is I am coming straight back to my own blog when I try and search any info on Gladstone Park. Does that happen to you when you research your own town?

So does anyone at all know anything about the future of Gladstone Park? One for Island Residents.

One for Google Earth Feejit. Hello I do not live in, Douglas, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. I live in Ramsey, Isle of Man. We deserve you to place us accordingly please. It's very confusing for readers who are new. It's hard enough explaining where the Isle Of Man is but, to uproot us to Scotland is just not on.

The gull is so graceful. Downtown is the same. They all become parking lots. The black and white treatment is the best hun.

I like those types of buildings. I seem to always make it back to my site when I google Terrell or something where research is required, frustrating.

My Fantasy team is ok, I won once, placed 2nd a couple of times, 3rd a few. This year isnt world class though.

Like the BW photo today. I love all old buildings, a reflection of my age I know. I don't trust Google Earth.
It's creepy that they know where I live, but actually they think I live down street. I am safe I guess.

I thought the Isle of Man was a Scottish Isle. Ok I need to go back and google you.

Gorgeous building, that window is classic. Reminds of Asbury Park here in New Jersey. Great monochrome mood

The building looks like a radiator, one of those art deco ones. Scotland indeed!

Babooshka,
Why not reuse the building for an art museum. If they can turn a power plant into the Tate Modern, this building could be converted to museum use.

I assume that it is named after William Gladstone. Wouldn't that be reason enough to save the building?

Thank you for your comments about the blue motmot photo I posted on my site.

I have the same problem with searching for news about Molfetta and the region of Puglia in general. I often get my blog as an answer, or when there is info. it's rarely in Engish. Fair enough, you're in Italy, you say, but tourism is so poorly managed here. They could do so much more to help the local economy. On the other hand, it's nicer here without an invasion of tourists...

Hope you escape Tescos - shall say no more.
At least when google turns up yur own blog it shows what good work youare doing.
that feedjit thing is peculiar - it seems to show me up anywhere in the south of england (my ISP is based in Southampton but I assume their servers are based in other places) - weird though is they'll come up with a town but place it entirely in the wrong county.

Looks an interesting building & lends itself well to black & white. I hope it stays where it is, as the UK has lost too many good buildings to the bulldozer.

Hi Babooshka - blowing my Scouse trumpet and cosidering the maritime links between L'pool and IoM, Gladstone Park might have been more likely to have been named after Robert Gladstone the wealthy Liverpool merchant who built the Gladstone dock at Bootle - now part of Seaforth container terminal and at the time the biggest dock in the world - "big enough to house the biggest liners built or on the drawing board"
He was cousin to Gladstone PM.
Food for thought anyway. Nice building love the thin vertical windows (if they are windows) good way to break up a cube.

Your IP address comes up as Douglas, South Lanarkshire - hence the confusion I imagine.

I have noted your feejit is Scotland.
I like the building. Just keep in it as the Postal Park. We need business in Ramsey to stay as it it.

That building has so much personality! An old personality does not mean a dead one! It must live!

Er, how did it get your address details so screwed up? Is this some kind of joke on their part? I don't understand how Scottyland and the IOM can get mixed up...
Ciao

I did notice the bird. Did you plan that? Ramsey has being losing business for years now. I don't think things will improve soon. When I left the island Ramsey was losing to Douglas and it still is.

I rather like this building. It'll be a shame if it's demolished to make way for something bland..

j'avoue ne pas bien comprendre le contenu de ton post (mon anglais étant très limité). alors je vais juste dire ce que je pense de ta photo, que j'aime beaucoup, surtout grâce a cet oiseau en plein vol, bravo.

I admit to not understand the content of your post (my English is very limited). then I'll just say what I think of your photo, that I love, especially due to the bird in midair, bravo.

I for one am in favor of renovating our older buildings. this preserves our history and heritage. Besides, we have enough strip malls, mini-mansions, steel sheds and glass boxes.

Is google earth saying Isle of Man migrated?

mouse mats. Just checking the blog for the image required. Catch you later hun.

I can never resist a B&W Dereliction shot. ;-)

Try offering Google a Tax Advantage...then they'll get you right. Annoying, isn't? Yahoo took a while to get Richmond, Surrey right.. Kept giving me the weather for Richmond Yorkshire.

Is that park named after Wm. Gladstone, the kinky self-flagellating Victorian PM?
