Crashing waves and floods
Like a lot of places around the globe Ramsey too suffered the damage of the recent floods. Consistent rain, coupled with extremely high tides joined together to batter the island. Homes and business's across the island received a fair amount of damage, though fortunately the house shown did not. You can normally walk along the beach here (I take most of my sunrises here, to give you an example of a calmer day) but you couldn't even walk along the road adjacent to the beach, due to the overspill of the ferocious incoming tide. Did I get wet, yes. Was it worth it, again yes. Though I am considering buying a waterproof camera, or at least waterproof housing for the camera. Also, wellies.

Manx Money Laundering Monkey Business - ABC
So there you go. That's my Abc Money Laundering, and you thought I lived on a sleepy little island. Thanks to Gary for doing the illustration in record time today for this post. Now that is real talent. You can see more of his work here. For other Abc's of a less fraudulent type here.

GRAND ISLAND HOTEL BURGLARY
Grand Theft Auto?Be warned I'm having a rant.
That's better Now I'll do the funny side so not to depress you all. On a lighter note all I will say is the bunch of tourists who I featured the thursday all have alibis. Of course as the hotel was way off along Mooragh Promenade it was too far for their elderly weak bladders to get to without stopping to spend a penny anyway. there are no toilets that way now the hotel has closed. Also they would have had to negotiate the swinging bridge of doom and they just will not cross that particular bridge when they come to it for all the hotel fittings in Ramsey, never mind tea in China. The Zimmer Frame Gang then have been ruled out and as the Police say it's a local job.
Make of this post what you will. It happened. That's just how the world is. I chose to post it because I like light and shade and as I say in the header sometimes the ugly side of life rears it's head and I will not gloss over this just to keep folks happy. It happened, it's sad, but tomorrow is another day as they say.

QUEENS PIER, RAMSEY- WHY SAVE NOW? - MY WORLD

Today has been declared make or break for the pier. There will be a vote my the Tynwald, the Manx government on saving or not saving. This means provide a £5million restoration plan. Now I have to say I don't understand this, and judging by the comments I've seen on the I.O.M. News website neither do other people. I was one of those that wanted this saving, I have posted and said that before. So when we had money on the island we not do anything to save the it and now when we have an economic downturn, recession and no surplus cash has £5million been quoted as an amount that could be approved. None of this sounds right to me.
Two things. The blog will continue. It will still be a while before we can move, along while. Next. Find me on Facebook and join me and Ramsey Daily Photo which now has it's own group. Come and say hello to the world on there. I'll be looking for you.
