Grey is the new silver, Dahlinks!
I know I'm all out of kilter again and blog posts are popping up willy nilly(always loved that saying or nolens volens if you prefer to be more cerebal today) at random times and days. Sorry about that. Also note this is a straight forward Mononchrome. Wouldn't want to mislead the odd odd shoter(?) thinking this is a perfectly normal image and trying in vain to find oddiness(I really am making up a new language today.) What colour do you see though? Is it grey or silver?
Image is an empty(who keeps letting the plug out?) lake I've shown you before up the Mooragh(sounds slightly risque like that) the park that is. I know some of you have no idea what I'm on about now. As I was saying. Well I grabbed one of those images from that week of pure blah di blah images with no manipulation as a monochrome, greyscale. Reminds me of a new roll of tin foil when the light catches it and you get that funnel of white light. As it shimmers I see silver. If this was a matt image I would say grey. Think of it this way all you folks out there with a few grey hairs, try calling them silver highlights. Now how precious do they sound? Silver linings you see, even cynics note grey clouds have those.

I see silver in that b&w shot; no silver linings though. Nice detail in the shadows.
Hey B what gives? What happened to Sunday post? Don't work too hard I miss my photography lessons. I see silver because it shines. Hang in there.
Laxey Blues Festival is next month. Are you going? Can you take some photos for the blog. Sorry meant to ask in earlier comment.
What I see is a shot I wish I could get.My BW's aren't worth a damn.

great shot...seems a silver lining indeed
Interesting. On my monitor, or maybemy eyes, or even my contacts, I discern a bluishhighlight. I guess I have t adjust my monitor/eyes/contacts.
Great monochrome choice.
So happy for such a dark photo. Must be the silver lining.
Silver is coming through loud and clear in our neck of the woods! Love your new expression "blah di blah" images, which, of course, yours are not!!!!
interesting text, thanks... and image. I'v forgotten if this is the isle of man or not, lol, Top Gear on TV: saw early replay with just terrific images made before it went all arty - which are also good but just different
This monochrome image is looking silver and shimmery
That's very interesting B&W composition,great picture:)
Have a nice day.
Wonderful picture. Loved the sunbeams in the wather. :-))
Nice week to you.
All is question of light. Even in the silver highlights of the hair !
une mer d'huile en b&w, magnifique
Always good. Looks like i want more of the light beams over the lake....^-^
Gray or silver; either way your photo looks good. I have decided to let my own hair do its natural thing, and actually the 'color' (gray or silver, you decide whenever you see me!) looks pretty good.
I'll opt for willy nilly grey matter today dahling!
It's silver.
Beautiful photo.
From a greyhaired and greybearded admirer: Keep pushing that silver!
I'd have to go with pewter myself. Whatever you call it, it's a very appealing shot.
You picture turns mud to magic...
The right hand side is definately silver. And "nolens volens"? *remembers for later*
A Beauty.
More silver than grey though :)
Silver! No grey...like my highlights! lol!
Great to see the lads at the Olivers Mount Races yesterday! Ryan on form, Guy had a win!
Silver Dream Machine.
D.
Silver and black, I would say. Beautiful!
your photographs are such a delight!
The comparison of the monochrome to a foil is brilliant.
I like it a lot,great silver and black-look.
Definitely silver and definitely beautiful.
I don't have silver highlights these days - more like occasional black lowlights!
We've seen enough grey here recently, so I'm all too ready to see silver in this shot.
Amazing monochrome...
From grey/silver to highlights/lowlights...lol
I would have gone with dark grey, until i saw Robins comment pewter..
The silver does resemble some of the colour i have growing out of my head... :-/ yes, i see silver too......
I love the band of light on the water as well as the way it shows up on the wet shore. That always makes me think I can walk on water, ha.
silver! definitely silver!
beautiful shot by the way.
Silver, grey depends on my mood. Beautiful.
Silver. Most definitely. Like I always describe my hair. None of this gray business! ;-)
Always a treat to take in your photographs.
Very nice! I see silver :)
Wonderful picture!
I see silver as well!
Léia :-)
I see greys and silver. Beautiful shot!
My eyes kept searching for a duck or something on the water. :)
I see it as both grey and silver.
Very cool shot whichever way i see it. :-)
Oh it SO it .. she types tossing her silver hair back
I see grey but the highlights do have a silver look to them.
I have several of those silver highlights you mentioned!
Lovely shot and definitely silver!
How about I go a little different and say it looks like the shiniest of chrome... monochrome. :-D
It is beautiful, glittering silvery lake.
Tyra
It's beautiful and it's silver!
Congrats on POTD.
Your photography takes us to new levels. :)
(If anyone wants to visit me please email me and I will send an invite. I have had to go private for now but I am not hiding from any bloggers - You are more than welcome to come. sheeyahdeelite@msn.com)
I think you were spot on with the aluminum foil analogy. Congrats on POTD mention. I was sandwiched between you and Imac, which was sweet given that you are both great photographers.
All that glitters is definitely not gold. Apparently I've been more then a little delinquent in catching up with you. Seems I missed several posts along the way. Damnable day job... interferes with my blogging!
I'd say silver fits it better then gray... though I don't think I've ever heard of a silverscale conversion... But since you're reinventing the language today anyway might as well toss that one in, right?
Silver or gray, I like it.
Also like the idea of having "silver highlights" better than gray hair. Nice turn of phrase.
