NEW WAVEBabooshka
What is it though? It's a rare sight in Ramsey Harbour although these never used to be. So what is it. Well It's not the new Swimming pool you can see over on the right with the curving roof. No, It's actually the red and white Tall Ship you moored, called the "New Wave." I snapped this shot very quickly as I was literally running onto somehwere else, so a quick not thought out snap for a change.
This is actually a grand sight to see in the harbour, a real blast from the past because this is the very harbour that the STAR OF INDIA or the Euterpe as you may know it was built. Yes the one that has been loving restored and is berthed in San Diego. If you click on the words Star of India above it will take you to my post about it with an image of the commemorative plaque here in Ramsey. The Isle of Man has strong links with the sea, as do most islands. From the Bounty, The Jane, The Island Yacht Race to The Book the " English Passengers" we have had a wonderful variety of sailors and ships.

I'm late tonight, and a little light on the visiting. I heard about this ship. Didn't do the paperwork, so can't say more. It looks at home sat in the harbour, which looks stunning btw. What will happen to the old pool?

Ahh it is a lovely sight indeed! I love tall ships...
I follow you blog because I was born in Ramsey. I now live in Sydney. I suggest looking at other photographers on the island of lesser talent as the culprits. I will keep my eyes peeled but look to the small minded islanders who have a very green eyed gene. The new swimming pool looks very modern.

Hi Babooshka! As a daughter of a sailor and a widow of an ex- sailor, I cannot but love tall ships. If I had been a boy I probably would have been a sailor too. Wonderful idea to swap books, I only have great difficulty with parting of a book.

And yes, do lash out at the shameless replicator with full force so as blatant plagiary is nipped in the bud!

wow.. I do not know that Ramsey has a harbour.. look at the boat, remember me my hometown.
Tall ships are so majestic.
Well they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, that's how I'd look at it anyway.
You're lucky being so close to the sea. Here in landlocked Brum I have to settle for Gas Street Basin and Brindley Place. Lots of nice barges if not majestic sailing vessells such as these!

I was little confused at the beginning, why was the ships hanging in the air. Then I realised it has to be the tide. We don't have that in Finland:)

I love this shot as I adore tall ships. I was intrigued when she came into the harbour a few weeks ago and like you I took numerous photos. I also did a bit of research and found out that she is used for evangelical purposes. Spreading the word of God around the world via training and character building on board ship. here is a link to their website....
