200th POST, RAMSEY DAILY PHOTO.

My 200th post. Not quite what you was expecting was it? In fact I had no planned image, nothing specific, but I found this fun lively image and just couldn't resist it. A contrast to yesterday's arty shot, a colourful image of the fun and games that happen when we have Ramsey Day during the TT. It's also one of the limited images I have of just people, and a lot of you have requested to see some locals, so here they are letting their hair down. I'll try and include more people but it's dfficult in a small private community.

Back to the word for the 100th post Xenodochial

The kindness of strangers who have consistantly supported this tiny island blog, encouraged me to continue, emailed me, blog awarded me, linked me, and even put me on the Community favourites list. Again I wouldn't have known this unless one of you hadn't emailed me.

I have lots of projects ongoing due to the blog, latest being to write an article for a museum to do with a Manx item. This is what I meant about taking a new turn. It's the writing now and the photography combined. Thanks to the North American Manx Association who actually wrote a post about the blog after finding me and introducing me to a whole new audience. Thanks To Dave McMahon for the honours shared for post of the day. Motoaction, Andree for the negotiations with the magazine, and thanks to Karl for the heads up on all the places that I'm being linked too and want to use me, in a nice way obviously

Gary, Marley, Virginia, Knoxville Girl, Scarlet, Laurie, Kelly, Bibi, Brett, Chuck, Louis La Vache, Mrs Nesbitt, Blue, Aileni, Dragonstar, Laxeylass, Mannanan's Cloak, Old Man Lincoln, Lake lady, Jim, Hyde dp, Mr Wigger, Olivier, Angela, Jackie, Eki,Stephen, Crazy Cath, Brad... I could go on. Thank you so much for just the conituned support, shared ideas and for endorsing my reputation on the net as the place to go for images, opinions, advice, wit and perhaps sometimes more than you bargained for. You have made me the blogger I am today. Aha! Now I can blame you lot.

What of the next 200 who knows. Maybe the escaped wallaby, the Manx fairies the odd celebrity. As you have discovered, Ramsey is a weird and wonderful place and I'll capture the Manx spirit for the blog.

Tarra,

B

LB,

CONGRATULATIONS! 200 posts, is that days? Yesterday was my favourite image of all time. This looks like fun. I don't think the skinny guy will be around for long.

Babooshka, congratulations on your 200th post. I find today's piccie rather odd only because I think I've got the same two people sumo wrestling in some of my images. taken on sprint day before I was rudely interupted by a shout on the Lifeboat. How weird is that. I could be mistaken of course but it certainly looks like our best friends son. What a coincidence if it is.
Here's to the next 200...Cheers

Well done babe! You're a star for all the stirling work you do for the island not just Ramsey. I've contacted a few people about the blog, you may get some feedback and requests. I hope anyway. Just my way of helping out. I'm on nights this week( I'm a shipping auditor, surprise)so I can check in more. Suggestions from me? People if you can, the park and the tower. Don't change your writing or photograpy style, it's unique and pure class.
Take care hun,

Lisa(laxeylass)

Hi LB,

200. Brad said I had to say hi. He's
so in awe of your work. Come to Boston. We treat our artists with respect. Pubs are bars aren't they? I'd go for those photos. Do you have any Irish Bars? We're Irish, second generation.

First thing in order: Congratulations (and I mean a big CONGRATULATION) on your 200th post, Babooshka!

I think I can confidently say, your photo blog is one of the most notable success stories in CDPB and quite probably beyond it: Thousands of visitors, a number of awards, and a lot of friends you have won through your high quality photographs, insightful and educational commentaries, and the constructive comments you gave to others' are the testimonies of your success.

So here's to the next 200 posts and beyond!

As for the photo today: Yes, I'd love to see more of the Isle of Man's people.

Oh, and one more thing I've been meaning to ask: How did the Isle of Man get its name? (I've been guessing that it must have been because only men used to live there? - I could be wrong... :))

B.,
We are kindred spirits I think. Thank you for your wonderful comments that help me be a better photographer, and for your hilarious, irreverent dialogue that entertains us and makes this CDP blog a fun place to hang out.. What would we do without your bad self!!!

Congrats on your milestone. Love these inflatable sumo wrestlers--I saw some in person once, in a country and western dance club in Jackson, Mississippi. Downright hilarious!

B,
I am rather fresh in this CDP comunity, so I didn't even imagine for how long are You part of this (wow 200 posts)...I think it is under your skin now...I like very much your critical but warm way of writing and of course, nice photos....

Congratulations with the 200th! Time flies when you are having fun doesn't it? I have enjoyed many of your posts - especially those where you touch upon history (I'm a history freak if such things exist).

I agree with about the problems of putting recognizable people in pictures and try to avoid it if I can. The same goes for my family.

Good luck with the next 200!

PS Thank you for the comment! Always nice to be read...
