Singing the Blues because it's raining again - My World

Here we go again

My World

It is absolutely horrible weather here. This is colloquially know unaffectionately as typical British Summer weather- rain rain and er more rain. So I am most definitely not out and about with the camera. Until it improves we will be plundering the recent archives. Recent as in the last couple of months. As far back as May and a little something today from a musical event you may recall me showing you called the Laxey Blues Festival.

This is an event I like very much as I really love live music, both working as a photographer and purely as a fan. I tend to juggle the fun with the work, camera in one hand drink in another. You can get some fun results. Here is quite an early image of one of the first acts on at the marquee, Shore Hotel. A lone singer who entertained with a diverse range of songs. Anyone on the island can name this person that would be great. In fact you have seen him before as a silhouetted image in black and white. Now he's out of the shadows. Does he remind you of anyone who may of looked like this if he had still been alive? I'll leave you with that. I'll also leave you to take a peek into other my world's here

There's another "mini-festival" coming up this weekend in Raleigh, but the bastards discriminate against cameras -- but only certain kinds of cameras mind you. D/SLRs are prohibited, but compact point-and-shoot models aren't.

Apparently nobody told them it's not the camera that makes the photo.

So I won't be getting anything so wonderful as you have here unless my buddies at raleighmusic.com need a photographer for a story again.

Rain, rain, go away. Meanwhile we'll enjoy photos from the archives.

Mojo- Always an issue cameras. Years ago when I used to go to concerts for fun I remember it was always up to each band and/or the venue which decided.

Is he the rain man? Please send him over here in parched California land for a little bit of precipitation?

Hope you have a great week.

You live in such a busy place, it seems. I think I'll join in singing the blue - it's about to rain here again too.

Wish I could send you some of our lovely, sunny weather! I can relate because we a miserable winter and I didn't think that I'd ever see the sun again. Great post though and I do love music festivals!

Hope you get a dry day or two this week!

Rain? Oh well. You can always take pictures of moss, puddles, mushrooms, umbrellas and ducks. Having lived in a town where it rains 145 days out of the year....!

Looks like a young Joe Cocker ...maybe?

An island blues festival - sounds like fun. Beautiful 19 degree winter's days here, expected to hit 20 or 21 degrees later in the week.

Great picture, Babooshka. He reminds me a bit of our italian famous singer Zucchero.
I love live music as well, but have few occasions to follow it.
Jumping from one thing to another, I always remember with great pleasure the fantastic daily band concerts of classical music (mornings and afternoons) in the London parks, many years ago.

He reminds me of someone but I can´t remember who it is.

Enjoy the rain, ít´s a speciality you can get only on earth and even there it´s not common everywhere.

Even if it is raining, you can always find something to enjoy.
I like the facial expression you have captured.

Sang the blue sky here today. But last week had some rain. Could certainly use more. Preferably without lightning to put out the many fires.

Archives are good.

Babooshaka: Let's hope for a break in the weather. Bad weather can put a damper on a concert.

If it comforts you I am sitting and not singing in the rain too, except today where for once the sun is shining in Belgium !

Sorry about the rain, but glad it forced you to pull this out of the archives. Talk about nailing a portrait, Babs.
I've got to say, when I find a comment from you on my photo blog it's like opening up a package of sunshine. Wish I could do the same for you, particularly during your rainy weather.

Hello, I've just come in from the English rain with very wet legs and hair and not being able to see properly because of raindrops on my glasses - none the less, I use the term 'British Summer' affectionately. It smells so good for one thing!

This virtual music just hit the spot! I'm listening to Natalie Cole, imagining this guy is crooning one of her songs!

Great shot - but boo to the weather! I know it rains a lot in Britain, but sometimes it's just too much!

Great shot from archives. Rains there does give us a visual delight in your site.

I was practicing your kind of fun this weekend - camera in one hand, drink in the other, listening to the bands at the weekend music festival that became My World Tuesday post. It's great fun, isn't it? :-)
