WHERE ARE THE WATCHMEN?

Another one bites the space dust!

Just when you thought you were safe to to view the blog again after the One Year Anniversary, I hit you with this. Not the poster for the Watchmen film at the cinema that's for sure. What part of Ramsey would this be then? For those that know from previous posts this would be my house. No, really. I don't mean I reside with aliens in an inter galactic state, although..... My other half(who out there said better?) is an illustrator, you know the one that was the Political Cartoonist for the BBC Politics Show. He created this image, Captain Pluton. Looks like a film poster or graphic novel doesn't it?

So to illustrate my post about the Watchmen I utilise this image. Crafty, I mean inventive eh!

It's simple, one question? Are we getting the film The Watchmen or not on the Isle of Man? Not complicated is it? Actually is seems to be. Rumours abound we're getting late night screenings only at the one and only cinema in Douglas. The cinema though has other ideas. Well at least the website does as it's not showing The Watchman in it's coming soon section. Look this may surprise you, but not all females want to see chick flicks. Some of us actually can't wait for Star Trek. I want options. Hello it's called the "Isle of Man" for pity's sake! Would that not be a teensy clue as to roughly the sex of half the population here. Duh! You know the ones who traditionally, in a stereotypical way of course, are graphic novel ( no not comic) sci fi nuts and don't want to see films about girl buy shoes, girl lose boy, girl bore me to tears with your tedious pink world. We need/ want choice. So the campaign to get the Watchman screened on the Isle Of Man starts here. People I need ya. Don't let me down. I will have no Quantum of Solace until we get it. So can we boldly go (split infinitives abound) to the final frontier - a film I actually want to drag my sorry ass all the way to Douglas to see. Don't even think about not showing Star Trek. Phasers set to stun, but Captain Pluton will shoot to kill if we don't get the Watchman.

Ooh that felt good. Image today courtesy and copyrighted to Barker, of (click) Gary Barker Illustration and Design otherwise known as the one is using my living room as his personal office space. Yes folks back in business, busier than ever. Regular magazine slot, private work and a hush hush campaign I can't wait to tell you about but can't yet.

This superhero needs her bed and has to wash her superhero suit. Dry clean! Don't be stoooopid and reveal I'm Babooshka handing it it at the Dry cleaners.

Live long and prosper.

Ramsey needs a cinema so you would have more choice.

He is talented but you are too!! By the way, traditionally here the woman is called "la moitié" (the half) of the man, which means you "should" (if you were from you) call him my double (lol, I'm kidding of course but what I wrote is true, men used to call their wives ma moitié....).

Just the kind of drama that gets good publicity - love it!

We will have The Watchmen this weekend. My son works at the theater and is very upset with me that I won't let him see it. He's only 14. By the way, I'm not a big fan of chick flicks either. I usually watch them because I feel like I should, then feel that I have wasted my time! One of my favorite movies in the past couple of years was The Departed.

Happy first day of your second year. Star Trek had plenty of those chicky moments with female humans (and female aliens) swooning over Captain Kirk, yes? There were definitely times when I wanted to beam him up somewhere, anywhere. But I wish somehow we could beam Watchmen over to you.

I must be real odd as I'm not into films of any genre at all. Think the last film I watched was Monsters Inc or my worn out dvd of the Commitments. There again I don't watch any TV either. Agree though about the lack of facilities here on the island. There was talk about building a cinema on the patch of land where Beryls bus used to be, facing Albert Road school but that has died a death....So how about doing something really innovative like building a cinema on the end of the pier which would incorporate a deep water marina. Extend the MER from its station now to Queens Pier and then hop on the train to the cinema. Now that would be different.....great artwork as ever by Gary. Glad to hear things are on the up

I've heard of this flick, but haven't seen it yet. I'm officially boycotting until they agree to screen it on the Isle of Man. That's right, you heard me correctly.

So let every ear and eye behold and take heed (yes this means you Warner Brothers too):

The eye of Mojo shall ne'er fall upon this piece of cinematic work e're Babooshka is afforded the chance to view it. And that, as they say, is that.

Having enjoyed the poster, go buy Cosmos the Book by Carl Sagan. No fiction could match that kind of marvel.

Well if Douglas doesn't get the Watchman we will send you the DVD. Ha just watched a few old star trek episodes on my break down under with a friend who has collected the entire series. Love Gary's new work (all of it but then you know I'm a fan). You are clearly feeling a lot perkier today.

Your Gary is a pretty talented guy!!! Reminds me of Captain Underpants...

My favorite hapless protagonist and antihero is Arthur Dent. I believe he had his own series on the BBC. But living here in the States with minimal access to the BBC, I don't know for sure. I used to be able to pick up a few rugby or soccer matches from BBC on shortwave radio, but BBC no longer broadcasts to the Americas. Now it's online BBC to find out what is happening in the world. Oh, sorry to ramble, your image sparked my imagination of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
