Why does it always rain on me - Critters

Poor doggie

This week we are starting a little experiment on the blog. As it has constantly rained here the big all dancing Nikon and it's numerous lenses and paraphernalia has not been allowed out to play. Instead I have had to use a few archive images. What to do? Get out the old faithful point and shoot Olympus. So here is the first image this poor bedraggled little Yorkshire Terrier that was waiting faithfully outside Shoprite(our local supermarket) for his or her owner to finish their shopping and collect them. Poor little thing. Don't you just want to scoop the wee one up and dry him off. I am a sucker for a dog, any dog. Just adorable.

So for a while I will be using the Olympus for the blog, and the Nikon for work like the motorbikes and such like. Good thing about the tiny point and shoot is well many things. It fits snugly in a handbag. No extra lens, hoods, etc. It can be surreptitiously be dragged out to sneakily get a quick image, like this. As you can see they don't come more natural than this, just point shoot, ans slip back in the bag. No one any the wiser. Bad points are, the setting are not brilliant and the lighter can be a little harsh and obviously not quite the finesse of the Nikon. As I always advocate it's the photographer not the camera that creates the photo, I will put my money were my mouth is and upload some pics. C0uld be interesting.

I'd like to thank the blokes who very kindly saved me a spot to take the Grand Prix pics yesterday. I was late getting there and when I arrived, my usual spot was taken. All four graciously moved aside and made more than enough space for me. Cheers for that. Not everyone would do that.

Misty is the place to click for more cute critters.

Bibi (the dog, not me) hates the rain. But she must go out from time to time, so I bought her a raincoat. This Yorkie needs one, since I don't think Yorkies have much of an undercoat.

Yes, indeed, poor lil guy/gal! They could have put the poor thing out of the rain, jeez!

Scoop up a wriggling wet doggie - no way!

He's built that way so he can stand the rain - an hour in front of a nice fire is all he needs.

Aww Ackworth born - nothing like damp dog - it's great (;-)) once you get used to it. Sweet little dog Babooshka - loyalty can never be over-estimated!

Poor little pup. Enlarging the shot shows a much bedraggled coat of fur. I can almost see him shivering. Cats have the sense to take shelter out of the rain but a dog stays where you put it. Good dog. I hope the little thing got lots of tlc and fussing over when they got home. And bravo for the folks who made room for you at the race.

Nice rainy day shot! I think that the point and shoot cameras of the last few years have made good photographers out of a lot of people. And I believe that a great photographer can get great images from any camera.

Poor doggie is tied to the post so even if he wanted to find cover he is stuck. Awwww!!!

Oh I agree, poor little dog. Pity they couldn't have found somewhere dry to tie him up. Now here in France Madame would have popped him into her chariot and wheeled him around the supermarket! I loved your sky yesterday. What model is your Olympus Point and Shoot?

The first thing he is going to do to when he gets home is shake it off, I think thats a dogs way of getting back for being left in the rain. Great photo.

Your photo makes me shiver. Poor doggie! I enjoyed scrolling down to see your SkyWatch and other photos. The motorcycle one was a great capture!

Me thinks he's only waiting patiently because the owner has him tied up by his leash. Otherwise he could find shelter. Poor little guy!

Hi hi,
at least his owner didn't make him wear a raincoat. But he looks a bit soggy. Not sad though, I think. But sort of brave. Not letting the rain bother him. Wise little dog!

Smart move to wear your mini skirt and high heels to the motor event. No wonder the guys made space for you ;-) Or, the more logical explanation is that they really respect you and your work!

Looking forward to seeing the results of your 'experiment'.

I am still waiting for Nikon to come out a real good point-and-shot that I can carry when I am not carrying the heavy equipments. I just do not like to deal with the different format from different camera companies.

Poor doggie is a most appropriate caption.
Shame on his humans!
You pointed and shot a good one!

Some dogs around Portland must surely have suffered the same fate--we've had two days of intermittent rain, actually almost constant rain most of today. I look forward to the Olympus photos and have enjoyed catching up with your posts.

Amen. It's the photographer.

You and the "old faithful Olympus" delivered with a very fine photograph. An excellent camera critters post.

Oh dont talk to me about cameras! What a time we have had! Pictures to follow, right now just getting ready to take Wilma to the beach!

That poor little one looking so wet but determined to just wait patiently! Almost heart-breaking to see! But he looks quite adapted to doing what must be done! Dear little soul!

Poor guy. This looks like one of Daryl's "Waiting Impatiently" shots.

I've been planning to pick up a P&S for some while now. Even know which one I want, I just haven't yet gotten around to (read: had the money to) ordering it.

And cheers indeed to the kind souls who made space for ya at the races. You're right, not just everyone would. I've had the good fortune to encounter some who did that for me at a hockey game, and I never forgot it.
