ALONG CAME A SPIDER - CRITTERS SUNDAY

House Spider- Tegenaria Domestica

Pretty huh! No going back yesterdays post of Radioactive Ramsey- manipulated pebbles on the beach I thought I would stick with the theme and have the Spiders From Mars. Ok not Mars, but my house. Yes this little critter was at the time running around my house. Big isn't it? Now spiders are happy to roam around my house and birds are free to fling themselves into the patio windows and wait for me to teach them to fly again, but the have a price to pay, just a small one.
They do have to have their photo taken. They usually oblige. As you can see Tegenaria Domestica posed nicely before scuttling away. She ( I saw her babies) also signed a model release
form too, which means she is happy for me to sell her image. I hope you agree I got her best side.

do any of you have a spider phobia? Apologises for scaring the poop out of you with this image. Promise when the new laptop comes and I can upload the cute animals I'll post those again.

It's all gone a little pear shaped this week, so this image is from the stock photography collection.
New laptop on the horizon and transfer of recent images happening Monday. The back up of the images isn't a problem, I have those but I need a laptop to upload too and Gary's is tied up with his artwork. I am on borrowed time again for this post.

I may have found the answer to my online printing problem, for postcards anyway. Looking for a good deal so I could keep the photos for sale at a reasonable rate. Looking into a costing of bulk orders, seems good and may be calling on you to take a look at back posts to see which images would best suit a postcard. No spiders, unless of course some of you want to send out a scary postcard to your boss or a joke to an arachnophobe. I know that has happened before.

Creepy! I'm not a fan of spiders. Good shot, though.

I played too :)

Amazing shot - I actually quite like spiders, but living with three cats does not make for a friendly environment for them!

I used to have a fobia as I was younger but not anymore. Allthough I rather they did not creep on me. Still I find spiders ever so fascinating and at times try photograph them myself. Never really managed a good picture as they are quite quick to dissapear and I have a slow camera. Your shot is great and so very sharp too.

This is a great photo. I think it would make a cool postcard! I didn't know that they sometimes bite. I'll have to watch out for them and their gnashers!

Spiders are fascinating critters. In Australia I saw all kinds of them, even beautifully coloured ones. This one is big!

Love the humor as well as the photo. I don't seem to have any spiders in the house, but I have seen a small gecko or two. They refused to sign their model release forms, which is why they haven't shown up on my blog.

She makes for a beautiful model, I don't know about on a postcard though.

I don't mind spiders and if I find one in the house I might leave it alone or put it outside. (and let it fend for itself). I did get bitten by a Hobo Spider and it was kinda nasty--but luckily it blister and sore were all gone in three monthes. I researched it and the findings said it could last up to 3 years--yes, years---and do nasty work to your skin. I had an easy time of it. Hobos don't make webs they make holes in the ground or wood piles and usually only bite during mating season. I guess he liked my ankle. LOL MB

This is a great shot!
I don't particularly like spiders. Most of that is because when bitten I am very allergic.

Oh good grief. I will dream of this damn thing all night. Maybe I'll send you a photo of the gigantic roaches we have here in Alabama and return the favor. I have a dead one feet up in my house somewhere every day or so. it's all yours girl!

Creepy! If my partner finds out that I've been complementing your work, I would be dead by now. Unfortunately for her (or me), I find them fascinating and interesting. Keep up the good work!

Eeek, I'm scared of spiders but I like this shot.

Cool spider shot. They are awesome bugs but I prefer they stay outside, you know, webs and all.

I wouldn't say I'm afraid of spiders, but I do find them rather disgusting. This one is no exception. Though I must say I'm highly impressed that you got her to stand still long enough for a photo shoot. I wouldn't have bothered with the camera...I would have just squished the spider and been done with it. Outside they're fine - that's where they belong. Inside they are not fine, for they do not belong. And there you have my stance on spiders!

I definitely think you managed to capture the spider's best side. Very nice photo of a creepy spider!

Eeeek!! A spider!

Great photos. But I have see to many of them in person this fall. I don't mind the wolf he is harmless. but the recluse is too much.

This is my first time on Camera critters.
Have a great week.

It is nice to have so obliging subjects for macro photography Around the house. I'm afraid it is not possible here - my wife wouldn't have allowed tha in-door...

Glad to read that a laptop is on the horizon....
You remind me of a Doctor we had in my home town in Brittany. He used to say:
"In this life, you have to make a choice.. Flies or spiders.. I chose the spiders for the nets they spread all over my house,a lace artwork."

It was nice meeting this young Lady!!

My daft dog not only got bitten by one of these critters, he also developed an extreme allery to it. Have you ever tired to wressle a ten ton Golden Retriever into the passenger side of your car?

Darn spider cost me over a hundred quid and no end of grief. (Thanks for the memory.. shudder.)

He's beautiful, great shot.

Oh, and yes, I've been bitten by one of those because I wanted to put him outside with my bare hands. It hurt and there was some swelling, but being stung by a wasp is worse (and I don't find that particularly painful). I learned my lesson, though, and always catch them with a glass and a postcard now.

I am NOT a fan of spiders. I'm sure I'd be freaking out if that thing was anywhere near me!

It is a great shot though.

Spiders are welcome to stay in our house too — they're quiet and make themselves useful by eating bugs. I have to clean up after them sometimes (cobwebs), but that's a small price to pay. I'll never go near them though! ;D

Good luck with new laptop. And to Gary too.

I don't like them crawling on me but I love them as subject matter. Great picture!

YIKES! I'm scared of spiders - so, you're on your own on this one!!!

I know spiders are interesting creatures, but they scare me, benign or not. Still, you caught a lovely specimen...just glad it's only pictured on my screen.

There's definitely beauty in all living creatures.

Yep, glad it didn't come along at my house.

What is it about spiders? And I am trying, but not quite there yet. Interesting info and my sister was bitten by a brown recluse spider which is very bad and she needed surgery to remove the part of her leg where bitten....maybe that doesn't help me like them too much. Thank you for the info below too. Nice to know that your work is appreciated for your all too modest partner...

Tho I prefer outdoor garden spiders this one has its place and perhaps I have a few lurking around my corners and niches too.

I like this better in your photo than I would in my home. Or maybe I'll trade ya. We have brown recluse spiders here - poisonous, very nasty business. My mom got bitten once when she was helping me weed my flower bed and had to go to the emergency room.

Cath said...

Well that is a better photo than I would ever take. If it had been me the thing would be well squished by now. Ugh. House spider? Not in my house. Spiders outside are fine. Inside is a different story - that's war. And I don't like losing.

(At least not to a spider.)

Great shot of the creepy looking thing. I don't like spiders ...or bugs for that fact but the shot is great.

That is a great shot. I am not afriad of spiders at all. As a kid, the only way to get back at my brother was to pick up spiders and throw them on him. Every since then, I have no problems with spiders, lol.

Love the photo. I'm not afraid of spiders - in fact, I find them very beautiful and intriguing... but, then again, I've been accused of having 'issues'. hehe
