WAGTAIL IN SOFT FOCUS- CRITTERS

Watching Wagtails

Critters

Wagtails are a very common bird here well the white one here is along with the pied wagtail. We do have a grey wagtail which are rarer which visits our garden daily. Wagtails are really cute birds whose  long tail is constantly wagging and bobbing up and down.  Insectivores they have adapted really well to urban living. I am more likely to see one of these birds wandering down the high street drinking out of puddles that in the garden or along the promenade like this cutie. They don't often settle, constantly on the move. I didn't bother trying to get any closer in case he flew off I used the telephoto lens to create the soft focus shot. So I am at quite a distance, the lens draws me closer. Honestly he is real and not stuffed. Like the Robin I snapped he is just so still.

The Mekong Wagtail was described as new to science only in 2001

I often have birds on the blog that are not so common around the world or coastal ones. I wonder if you have this bird where you are. Short and sweet tonight. Lazy weekend. To see more Critters see Misty Dawn.

So yes or no do you have wagtails? I'm curious.

My tail is always wagging and bobbing too, but I stopped drinking out of puddles a couple of days ago!

Awesome photo, Babooshka! and wonderful Wiki to go with it. Thank you.

LB,

I sort of get how you did this, but a little help about the lens would be great. I don't know this bird.

Hi Babooshka...
Another great cc post by you!

We have Willy wagtails here (NSW, Australia). I think they are the same as this one you posted about - but I think our lot have different colouring.

We actually have a couple that come back to a nest they built above an outdoor spot light. When on another cc post, a blogger who knows about birds told me that they can mate for life and return to the same spot every spring. It's cool, they are like wild pets - we just need to keep an eye on our cats while they are around! The cats can't get to them, but they give it a good try ;)

Thanks for your visit to my cc for the week - they're the 2 cats that try to get to the birds!

I'm new to birding but I don't think we have wagtails here in Vancouver, British Columbia. Great shot though and have a wonderful weekend.

KAK DELA?

Wow! It is tomorrow already. I've posted just below you on a few blogs now. Reminded me that I haven't visited Ramsey in a few days. Hope you are well. Cute little wigtail!

Sunday is church day on my blog.

Monday will be a bird posting (statue in city park). Might be your cup of tea. Hope to get a virtual visit from you soon (instead of just tagging along behind you!).

Wagtails are really hard to capture since they are sooooo agile

You did a great job!

Unfortunately we do not see wagtails in Arizona as they do not like the desert. We have official sitings of white wagtails but I have not seen one here.

I don't remember ever seeing a bird that looked like this one around here... and I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed. He looks almost like he's been spray painted.

Nice job on the soft focus, but I'm curious how you got it in foreground like that. Even at f/2.8 I can't usually get that kind of blur ahead of the focal plane. But maybe you were using a longer telephoto that what I have. Nice effect however you got it!

I like the photo with the focus on the bird and the rest out of focus

What a beautifully composed shot! Love it. I don't think we have wagtails here, but I'll keep a look-out.

As for my Valentine's photo, it wasn't a Bibi Belly Shot, but rather -a 'camera-strategically-placed-on-the-table-shot!'

Wagtails are very rare down here. I have never seen one although there have been sightings along the California coast occasionally. You can see them in Alaska however. The White Wagtail and the Eastern Yellow Wagtail.

Very nice capture of your Wagtail though!

Lots of those here in Sweden. Didn't know of the name wagtail. Most appropriate, I must say.
