RAMSEY SWING BRIDGE- THE ABRIDGED VERSION

Here we go again
15/100

If you're here for skywatch that was so yesterday. In other words scroll down for the post below. On the other hand if you are here for the never ending saga about a bridge stay tuned.
We are up to 15/100 of how to shoot one subject a zillion ways(well 100 ways) as challenged by Joe who probably has given up, as I never see a comment or received another email off him. Anyway the cult of Babooshka's Ramsey Swing Bridge continues. You only have yourselves to blame. This was second on the most requested things to see on the blog.

The bridge is a good subject to use the little no frills point and shoot olympus. It does have manual setting (they all do be brave have a go) but no extra lenses. Went for a nice tight close up in yer face close up. Right on the harbour edge. Do you have any idea the life and limb I risk to get you these images? I may have to start hanging off the bridge when I get seriously creative, and subsequently arrested for abusing a bridge to causing a disturbance of some kind. No cropping needed as I was so close in. Tried not to make this too tidy and image to bring out those lines and layers. Dullish blue sky which was OK as it allowed the red and cream to zing.

I'm going to concentrate on a few building next week. I do say few with good reason. Ramsey is not a city. It is a town. Not quite one horse town, but teeny weeny. One high st, one shopping square, but lots of pubs. Not an awful lot but I'll show and tell for you the little there is. You'll see why I shop online put it that way.  Had you even heard of the Isle of Man before you stopped by here? I'd be interested to know.

See you kept the bird poop in again. Never here for skywatch. Followed the bridge from 3. I like the concept. Very busy image. Works well
in a geometry sense.

Thats a nicely painted bridge, and its paid off for the town with it being so photogenic. Of course a Kiwis heard of the Isle of Man from the motorbike racing now on youtube and from the Top Gear show.

Heard of it. I was born in Peel, left 6mths old never been back. No interest in the place until I found your blog. I might take a trip when I retire in 2011.

I like this picture of the bridge, but I do hope you don't get yourself arrested (or hurt) in getting 85 more pictures!
By the way I had heard of the Isle of Man before I came across your site. I like history and collect stamps. The Isle of Man came up in both areas.

An interesting perspective of this bridge.
Happy Weekend!

That does look vaguely dangerous. Be careful. Blogging is more dangerous than fire fighting at times, and usually doesn't come with the same medical benefits.

In the United States, everyone is still talking about the bridge to nowhere. And in answer to the question you posed in your narrative, No, I had never heard of isle of Man until I visited your site. Your photos are profound and create a beautiful image of your home island. Does the real thing match the expectations of your photos? BTW, thanks for your message on my website about coffee and tea. I actually have never drank coffee. hard to believe. Tea is my thing.

I do find it quite amazing sometimes how people have never heard of the Isle of Man and how they think towns like Ramsey, Hyde, Cheltenham and others are big cities rather than towns. Still we do our best to inform them.

Striking colors in the close-up shot! Your comments lead to another meme to start "pubs you have a pint or two in". Sorry the weather gods did not cooperate - a snowy image of the swing bridge would be great about now. LOL!

i'd heard of the isle of man before i discovered your blog - it always sounded like one of those places that was getting all the more deserted. but reading your blog, i realise that the isle of man seems to have a lot of fans.

today's photo caption: three cheers for the red white and blue

I had heard of the Isle of Man and was a little familiar with the Manx cat, but your blog is the definitive source now. (okay I admit I google mapped it and wikipediaed it too)
Lovin' the bridge pics and can't wait to see more of the town that is Ramsey!

Thanks for visiting my site of the Titan II missile. As an engineer your bridge is the kind of thing I really like. Great shot.

When Mary told me where you lived I thought you would like the pictures of my friends old Nortons.

I like that nice close crop, very cozy. and there you go with the red again, like the cat photo, pumps up the volume.
being a geography wonkette since grade school, i knew where the IoM was located, but didn't know much more than that - thanks for educating me.

That's a good one. A bridge like that has so many lovely lines and angles, and the colour is a great bonus here. Bridges are fun!

the close up details are just as beautiful! I like the color combination ... my favourite.

Love seeing different views of the same place. Only an artist can do that.
Actually yes I did know of the Isle of Mann before for 2 reasons. The motorbike race and offshore banking.

Yes, I'm counting, and if you get arrested, you might become even more famous!

Did you count you first image?

Hmm... now that's an interesting concept. I guess I missed it when the "gauntlet was thrown", but I like the results.

There are a few things I could shoot 100 different ways I suppose. Might have to try this out myself if I find a suitable subject.

Anyway, I'm glad you decided to pick up the challenge because this is marvelous! Clicking on the label gave me the other 14 plus a few bonuses and they're all magnificent!

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series...

I so enjoy these photos of the Swing Bridge, all of the angles, shapes, perspectives. Thanks!

About the Isle of Man, I'd heard of it before coming upon your superb blog. I can't put a finger on when or where, but I imagine it must have been in a book. Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies. Do you think that might have been a possibility? However, once I got interested in your blog, I had to look it up on a map and was surprised to find in on that side of whatever the proper term is for that big island with London on it.

Thanks so very much for stopping by and taking a guess about the ceiling in the Schnitz. Actually, it's called cantaloupe, but I can see where your guess came from.
