Statues
My world
I asked recently what you'd like to see on the blog. I was surprised to see so many ask for more of the sport photography I am known for. So not motorbikes and the Isle of Man TT but the Rugby again for those who just wish to be known as J, O, M, and B. Here you are. Ramsey are the ones in the blue shirts. J. by the way has turned this image of mine into a mousemat. In fact this image is also on a mug a set of coasters and greetings cards as far as I know.
This wasn't a recent game, last season. Had to use an archive tonight due to a little editing of the images and selecting ones for the website. Hence the late post. Back to the Rugby. It's a game I photograph a lot as the pitch is between the park and the beach a place as you have noticed I photograph a lot. It's free to watch. Not many sport events you can say that about now can you? The Superbowl yesterday I think prompted the request for more Rugby images. Although on the surface they are very different games the basics for photographing the action shots are the same. Freezing the jumps was the most requested pose. "How you make them look like statutes." OK here are the jumping statues. I know one of those posing players well. He has been called many things, but never a statue. For M, you are right it is unusual for a female like me to be good at sport photography, but if you want I'll give you pink flowers. For a price. I get bored photographing flowers. I need a challenge. I'll stick with 120mph motorbikes.

It's a beautiful photo...they seem to be having fun with the game, or so.
Cheers B,
Thanks for the bigger sized image too. It is brilliant.

I love rugby, its an awesome sport. Thanks for the great pic.
Cheers!

Great shot from the sporty lady.lol.
Noosnoowgoodooo
Great action shot.
Classic.
What a great photo. Add me to the list of those who wouldn't mind seeing more of your sports photographs.
I can see why it's popular!
You make it fun, Babooshka! What a great shot.
Loooks like fun, and you got a good shot of the team interaction.
I come from the same small town as Dan Carter so It shows you could be photographing a star in the making. The photo captures the moment but the best are the black jerseys.
enjoy your sports photography shot...thanks for sharing with us.
have a good week.

What a fun photo! They do look like they're having fun. Great shot!
That is fun and challenge!
Action packed!
That's a great action shot. I think it would be very difficult to do that type of photography.
Very interesting. I dont take much sports photo. I just take photos of things that I just stumbled into. :) Come visit my chinese dolls. :)
Good catch! ;-)
LB,
You can show me these every day. I photograph Brad Jnr in little league. Your tips got my game on.
It is challenging, but no more so than wildlife. Not everything worth photographing sits still and poses. and those that do - like your flowers - lose their attraction over time.
Awesome photo and post.
Take care and thanks for sharing your part of the world with us.
I love your photograph. I don't understand it at all. The few people I know that play it here in the US seem to get injured a lot. They take much pride in those injuries.
Thanks,
that looks like a fun-filled game!
thanks for visiting mine.
An interesting game!
I once tried to watch a rugby game on TV. Had to change the channel when I saw teeth come out of a players mouth...I don't think it was because they were loose either.
Oh I miss Rugby over here, American Football just is not the same! By now I think you may have snow?
Wow... even I've had snow to shoot this year! You mean we got it here before you did?
I've done a lot of sports photography -- mainly ice hockey, which I have thousands of shots of -- and the fundamental principle for virtually all of them is the same: How fast can you afford to go? Strangely (or actually not) shooting a stock car traveling 180mph at an afternoon race isn't nearly as challenging as shooting the game winning goal at a hockey game. And I suspect the same is probably true of the TT vs, the rugby. Racing is far more predictable. What I know about rugby would fit on a 3 x 5 notecard -- in large print, but if it's anything like hockey, the game winning goal could come from anywhere at any time. And your subjects are moving in three dimensions rather than staying (hopefully!) to a prescribed course for a prescribed distance.
But there's always the trade off between speed and saturation -- though digital makes this a little less onerous. And you've balanced the two masterfully here!
Belle photo de rugby, cela fait penser, en effet, à une statue.
Nice picture of rugby, it is thought, in fact, a statue.
Enjoyed your photo and blog.
Very moving pic today from your world:) Now you have snow there also I suppose? My son in London called yesterday from home - bus and metro didn't go to his work...
that is a wonderful portrait of 'action'!
Not to worry, I didn't photographed snow either not because i don't like it but because we don't have it in our country:) That's a good sport pic you got there.
I'm not sure I like that sport, but anything to keep fit!
Wishing you peacem from India
Sport!, very nice cacth!
What is the different between American Footbal with this one?
The flowers can wilt away.. action is here to stay! :)
And i was telling to myself that i was the only one that i hadn't snow photos. But next week at part 2 this will change. Love your post and photo.
It's a great photo of a sport I don't know anything about, but which fascinates me!!
Women and sports photography are very unusual. I have huge admiration for you being able to break through the barriers to get a foot in this door. Actually you have more than a foot. Great action shot. What size lens do you use for this work?
Great action shot. MB
I know at least two people. They don't paly for Ramsey though. Brilliant photograph.
fast lens!
Great sports shots. I like the idea of asking folks what they would like to see photos of for My World Tuesday. I will have to try that too.
Perfect action shot Babooshka, well captured. Been down the rugby pitch on a number of occasions but never stayed to watch the whole match. Way too cold for me. having major problems with my site over the past few days or so. have only just managed to upload my My World pics. a bit eirie and spooky today
You're good alright. Great shot.
V
Great action photo.
I can send over some snow to you so that you can take some snow photos. Otherwise, you must take a trip over the North Sea. ;)
Bring on more sports!:)
That's an intense moment you capture in this photo. A winning sport journalism photography.
