Snowdrops - My World

Not what you were expecting?

If you are a regular visitor you will no doubt be wincing at the bad pun. Well it's your own fault you asked me to start blogging again. If you have wandered here looking for gardening tips like say, when is the best time to plant your snowdrop bulbs ( I presume bulbs as opposed to seeds, but I'm sure some green fingered enthusiast who has wandered here will let you know) then sadly you are most definitely in the wrong place. Nah, that above is a little slice of creative photography representing my weird little part of the planet. I honestly didn't gather clumps of snow and place them strategically amongst the bare twigs. I'm not that dedicated to the blog. No. I came across this lucky image out and about with the camera, on our one and only snowy day (and yes you are going to see a lot of those images because I'm sick of rainy day ones) and just couldn't resist capturing it, against that palest of cool blue skies. Simple as that.

Other images around the globe can be seen here.

  2. Now you may find this hard to believe, but there are one or two of us who haven't actually seen the white stuff in the flesh so to speak, so even if there'd been little white elephants in the plant, we'd have hung on to your every word if you if you said they were real!

  5. What wonderful little white cups. I wonder what enchanting elixir we could sip from them. Just as long as it isn't yellow snow.

  6. Good shot. Add me to the list of those who have rarely seen snow.

  7. I love that shot. Nice fluffy snow if only for a day. I laughed at your discussing the title and who it might bring to your blog. I had a title to a post on one of my blogs saying, Lion's and Tigers and Bears. Let me say it brought people looking for the Wizard of Oz.

  8. I love your shot! It's really beautiful -- nature at her most creative and while I'm sure you're really tired of the cold and the snow, you showed it at it's best! Hope you stay warm, have a nice hot drink and think about summer!!

  16. Lovely picture. In our country the snow is washed away by the rain. Looks all dreary and wet now.

  17. Snow is the photographer's friend. The Snow gods blessed me with snow in Birmingham and in Paris this year. This is a gorgeous shot B. Take em while you can!

  19. Babooshka: What a beautiful capture, the Queen Anne Lace did a wonderful job of capturing the snow.

  20. «Louis» also thought the image was of cotton balls. A childhood in the Texas panhandle will do that to you...

  21. Looks a bit like cotton balls. A major crop here in California. At least it was until we ran out of water.

  30. Hello Babooshka, these snow flowers are cute and unusual but I hope they will wither quickly and the sun will be back in your part of the world. I personally don't like cold weather.

  31. Great shot. They look like flowers of snow.

  32. Soooo... a snowdrop is a flower I take it?

These actually do favor a flower of some sort. A keen eye as always Babs.

I'm with Sandy, I'm always amazed at how much snow a twig/branch can support. And I'll also second her on the "glad you're back".
