Here comes the rain again

What kind of sky do you see?

Looking on the dark side our sizzling mini heatwave will be over this week. It's been a corker. Who needs a holiday( actually I still want one of those) when you have had the blazing heat at the back end of the month of June. On the other hand... It's going to persist down with the watery stuff tonight, rain that is, bucket loads. Storms are forecast for later so it's get the washing in time, secure the bird feeders and close the windows. You can feel the hot, sticky, humid air hanging heavy. This is a lemonade day. The light in the clouds and the sliver of blue sky hint the sun is out to play, but the silhouette of the trees and the ominous threatening grey clouds creeping in on the left suggest it will be a washout sometime soon...

....The cloud though swung by. Laden but not ready to drop her load over me just yet. That was earlier. I just peeked out the windows. The back patio windows are blazing with bright light. The front windows have a darker cooler tone filtering through. There is a warm slight breeze encircling the house. I can sniff a storm over Snaefell a mile off and this smells like storm spirit. Batten down the hatches but not before I get my camera.

If you click here you can see Snaefell closer and what it is.

  8. Alexander-It's beautiful day being threatened by clouds. Shot straight out of the camera, no adjustments, but you can't get this on auto has to be a manual setting. You regulars will no what I'm on about.

  24. Sounds like you definitely have some photo possibilities ahead.

I'm surprised it has been so hot there in June. I'd have thought the weather would be moderated by breezes off the water. Hmmmm.

  29. Looks like the skies around here lately, except no high heat or humidity, and not very much rain either. Yet I love the smell right before rain comes into a country. And also the fresh after. Plus thunder and lightning is exciting.

  39. nothing like a good rain to keep my tomato , basil, rosemary, and sage plants watered. Then followed by hot humid sunshine. There is relief in the lemonade mixed with gin.

  42. Think we are due to have a share of it today. Will be a relief from the humidity. Be ok we get clouds as pretty as these.

  43. Great photo but I for one am glad that the heat has now passed for a while. I work in an office which can only be described as a caravan and we have all been cooking on gas mark five.
I dream of taking photos like that.x

  44. 10.23 am it has just hit here. There was a bit of thin sun earlier. Now it is bouncing off the roof and I've just shut all the windows - the automatic rain-sensor on the kitchen skylight doesn't work.

Just had a huge flash of lightning so think I'll switch the computer off now.

We must have called all the rain clouds over our town and left a few for you!
Hope all who need rain, find some relief and those, in the N.E. of the USA find some sunshine!
Oh no... I think I hear more thunder!
