YOU LOOKING AT ME? - CRITTERS

Well I suppose you'd be sulking and moody if you'd just flown into a window and some idiot runs up to you and shoves a camera in yer face while you're trying to recover. You all know the story of the mad siskins with satnav problems who bounce of my patio doors. Here's another. Needless to say I don't just capture them( figuratively with the camera of course) but stay with them 'til they are less dazed and confused and fit enough to fly off. Free as bird oh lord I can't change the habits of these mad little birdies, just look after them.




Anyway for the back story on the moody siskin and my other images see pretty colours below.

    That's a great shot. Perfect.

    And I want to see the ones of the big boys on the swings, and the little ones on the rope swing - did they land in the river somewhere?

    I played the critters too (not as good as this one though.)

    This is not the same as our American yard bird siskin. It's so bright. Pretty neat close up.

    Flying into windows must be an occupational hazzard for little birdies. We're coming into the seagull breeding season here where poor little chicks slide down roofs and locals take them to the vets. And boy, is it noisy!

    Poor little siskin. I had a pigeon smash into one of our windows once. He just bounced off and flew away! No window damage either.

    Lovely little siskin! I bet your windows are TOO clean. I once washed the windows at my daughter's in Australia, with the result that two birds flew into her house, one chasing after the other. They couldn't fly out and bumped against the glass.

    Can't wait to see the other pics you mentioned. This little siskin looks so stunned. I always feel guilty when a bird hits one of our windows--like I should go out and apologize for having our house there amongst the trees or something. Glad to know he was ok after a few moments.

    Poor little critter... we have birds that constantly fly into the windows. You'd think that they would learn their lesson. ;)

    It's a great photo. You can see the "dazed and confused" feeling he/she was having.

    The comment about Jack Daniels is classic! I'm always better at billiards after a few JDs :)

    I thought that looked like a stunned bird. They fly into my windows, too and sometimes bread their dumb little necks. Sad.

    Glad to see another siskin shot. I'm always reminded of when my then three-year-old ran pell mell into his uncle's patio door and, thankfully, bounced right back onto his little butt.

    Also glad to read that the camera and the whiskey mixed well for you at the festival, despite the lack of your food fix.

    Aww... he may be a little dazed and disoriented.. (sigh, welcome to MY world... LOL) but I am glad they do recover and are able to resume birding life once more after a bit of a rest.

    Yeah, he looks a bit shellshocked. You'd think even if they didn't recognize the reflection for what it is, they'd at least try to avoid the other bird flying straight at them!

    Good on ya for lookin' after the poor sods though. You're a good soul.
