Bank holiday laptop blues -

Grey Day

Monochrome Weekly

My World

I know I skipped a few days again. Friday night. So why the delay in posting? My psycho laptop( yes the relatively new laptop) has suddenly lost/mislaid/dumped wireless broadband connection. Very annoying. Means choices are sitting in the hall plugged into the the laptop( the Internet plugged in not me obviously) or borrow G's when he is not on it. So a long wait then. Like er two whole days. So today you have the first image I came across in black and white because I really don't won't to spend Bank Holiday Weekend wading through images. guess

Did you say the beach? Well it is an island I live on and we do sort of have er a lot of them. This would be the Mooragh beach. Remember the week on the beach we had. Remember how it pis... er persisted down with precipitation. Well here is one of those rainy grainy images, taken with the tiny point and shoot and not the big all singing dancing Nikon. Nikon is far too sensitive and isn't allowed out in the rain, little point and shoot is. Looks like I wasn't the only one out and about at least one man and his dog braving the elements. For the colour, sunny, stages of the beach clickety click the colours below.

Going to get some soothing ice cream and scream at my laptop until it complies. I may be a while. . Now pass me a very big spoon and a bottomless pit of the cold stuff. My needs are greater I cannot share today.

  1. A scene that would lower the mood quite a bit - not that you need it lowered. Looks like a British Summer of old.

  2. Think this shot is beautiful since I prefer my beaches to look this - sunbathing is boring. Does the Nikon ever get jealous?

Good luck with the laptop - they can be pesky things...are you sure the Manx fairies aren't playing a joke on YOU? :-)

  3. Ooo I love this shot. I feel so little and yet pieceful. I want to go there, with my camera and my dog beside me.

  4. Great shot!
Hmmm, I didn't know screaming at my computer would do the trick! It's been acting up lately - I'll try that next time ;-)

  5. A very apt photograph for a British (or Manx) Bank Holiday weekend. I think this is what we're promised tomorrow. I love empty beaches so this shot is the sort I usually see!

  6. Monochrome is the perfect touch for this gray day at the beach. And what sounds like a gray day for you as well. Do you seem to have particularly bad luck with computers? Maybe if you'd stop dropping it at the pub...

  7. Oh, your mono shots are always worth the wait. This is so atmospheric and cinematic -- my favorite combo!

Sorry to hear of your laptop woes. I've been there!

  11. Love the post. But,of course sorry the laptop has taken on a mind of its own. It'll come around and realize soon that you're its lifeline to the world.

  12. Hope the screaming makes the computer come around. Love the shot anyway! Vast and empty and beautiful.

  13. Very nice! However, the clouds makes it seem like a cold day. Good luck with the laptop!

  14. Sorry about your laptop issues. I like this shot. Looks like my kind of beach. I'd rather walk on the beach when there are few people and little sun at this point in my life.

  19. I like this rainy beach - the guy with the dog looks like he's got a peaceful time. Your ice cream and seagull comment had me laugh - you totally summarized it :)

  20. Sorry about your laptop troubles. I have had problems with this pc on and off for ages and it gets so frustrating.

Yours may look a bit cold but i love deserted beaches. That would be me and my two dogs walking along if we lived near there.

    Great shot.

Thank you for your kind comments on mine. I had left my favourite one out somehow, i must have deleted it when i edited it and didn't notice. Or maybe it got eaten up in cyber land..lol

    Anyway have a great Monday.

  21. I find technology is often misbehaving! It needs a spell on the naughty step.

Anyway, enjoy the ice cream. Its better than laptops :)

  39. Beautiful composition of this quiet spot, perfect for walk or run or for just sit and take a pic like this!

  40. My Pentax isn't allowed out in the rain either - but my Kodak EasyShare most definitely is! (well for a fewseconds only)

Black and white is often perfect for British beaches - for obvious reasons!

  41. Ugh, good luck with the laptop problems--but the photo's wonderful! I've been trying to learn better black & white photography, and practicing. This one's inspiring. I hope your week gets better!

  42. So, so sorry to hear you're experiencing laptop woes. How irritating! Hope you solve it soon.

  43. Fickle machines! You've arrived at the only logical treatment plan, however. Alternatives to being connected abound -:)

Glad to hear your postcard arrived!

  44. Not one for the tourist guides methinks. It was just the same here. Saturday, lovely & sunny. Sunday; started well & then went downhill. Monday. Did Monday arrive?

  45. Lovely view, Babooshka. Good luck resolving your computer situation.

  46. How the hell did I fall so far behind in your posts? this here is marvelous. Sorry I missed it the first time around! Long stretches of empty beach strike a chord with me. I've even been known to visit the coast in the dead of winter just for that very reason. Looks like this might have been just such a day actually.
