ABC - R - RAMSEY RUGBY

Help! Cannot sign into Mr Linky on ABC, My World Or Skywatch. Anyone else had this problem? Appreciate your help or thoughts on this one. Thanks in advance.

Ramsey Rugby. A strange game to some, only played by girls in others, or the best game in the world to many. What about you?

Ramsey are the ones in the blue shirts. I was going to upload the monochrome version, then I realised that would be no good if I said blue shirts in a black and white photo. Doh! Anyway it's Rugby Season. This was home game match( I am not allowed to mention the other team) and as you can see the lads were getting stuck in. The Rugby Pitch, Mooragh, runs alongside the Promenade. You can see the car in the background, right hand side along the promenade road. In other Rugby shots I've shown you the Mountain backdrop. I know I'm lucky. No hooligans here. It's a family sport.

This sport is a lot easier to take than the motorbikes. Another tip, know the rules of the game. This helps to take the money shot. The local paper will only take a few shots and disappear. You stay the game and you'll get the better shot. Again do not saturate the colours. The teams strip should be photographed as they wear it, not over egged.

  1. Rugby is said to be a thugs game played by gentlemen.

I'm sure there are no thugs in Ramsey, so it must be true!

  10. Mr linky is not connecting properly on the island. I sign in for a wordless day. It will only sign you up when it first appears, then it wipes out the links which are still visable to others. You need to get someone across to sign you in. The host of each theme, neme should do this for you. Not sure if this is a server problem. Hope this helps.

    Pat.

  11. I don't know from rugby, but I'd agree with your observation about knowing the rules of the game. I've found in shooting hockey, knowing the game allows you to anticipate the action. And in a game that moves as fast as hockey, that's the only way you're going to get the shot you want. I'm guessing the same holds true for rugby.

I've always loved shooting sports simply for the raw emotion that comes through in the photos. Looks like you have the same idea here!

  13. Babooshka - I just added you to the Mr Linky roll.

Rugby is played in Australia also; is more popular in the eastern states than here.

  22. Great catch, pardon the pun. And at the risk of being disrespectful to veterans, your photo reminds me of the famous shot of the flag raising at Iwo Jima.

  23. I followed you in the Mr. linky so it means you are there and there is no problem I think.

  25. Obviously a tough sport, But is Ramsay Rugby different from other forms of the spor (apart from giving you two Rs?? :-) ) We don't have it here.

Concerning Mr.Linky - I managed to log in early yesterday, but then it seemed to stop and no more entrants came. But The, we are one hour ahead of you. Last week - disaster.

    Personally I hate Mr. Linky.

  26. Great shot!
Maybe Rugby was born in France, during Middle Ages ("La Soule" was the old name of this sport)
Nowadays, Rugby is very famous and popular in the w south of France!

  31. Excellent action photo, and a great double-R.
Linky keeps disappearing. It comes back for a while then goes again. Aileni's keep vanishing on his monochromes.

Now I change hats, and as a member of the ABC Team I thank you for your participation. There, will that do?

  46. I only watch American Football, which I believe is based on rugby ... loosely at least! It's a great action shot, though!

  47. Great action shot, they are all at the half of the frame and the ball on the other! Superb!

  49. Cool action shot! I'm no fan of Rugby (I think it has to do with being forced to play in the cold and rain at school!) Phoebe goes to watch Gloucester play with her dad and uncle, not my thing I'm afraid. Though I like watching football. Anyway, not an interesting story but thats life! Lol :)
