This is part of The Laxey Wheel, in Laxey of course, not Ramsey, which I have covered in previous posts, is the largest working water wheel in the world, built in 1854. This part of the wheel features many shapes, textures and interjecting rods of metal and wood creating for me several varied layered lines.
Two Manx words for you.
Keekal - means peeping
Kibbinagh - means spiked
The lines I thought were both spiked and peeping out from behind each layer. Many words begin with K in the Manx Language, but these suited the lines theme best.

ReplyDeleteThe red and black are striking and the composition great as always.
Love the way you have brought 2 themes together. A++ and 3 gold stars.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great interpretation for the theme, lines. Although I'm not participating, I'll be interested in seeing some of these. I like the theme.
ReplyDeleteHere, in Australia, I have a great friend (unfortunately now not able to communicate) whose grandfather helped to build the Laxey Wheel! When we were over in th IOW we visited it. Unfortunately it was shut at the time but I was able to give my friend a photo of it.
ReplyDeleteWow......Two in one again, you're getting good at this. Great photo of a brilliant piece of engineering and two new Manx words which I didn't know. can't be bad can it....Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteA water wheel?! I would never have guessed! Love the red/black, kind of reminds me of the cover of the movie 300 for some reason ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Theme Day!
Nice work on combinig these themes. I also love the color and composition in this pic. You have brought everything together very nicely!
ReplyDeleteGreat colour and line - very 3 dimensional!!
ReplyDeleteLB,
ReplyDeleteI started coming here for the bike photography. Now I just arrive each day to be educated and learn how to take perfect photos. Your mind works on a higher wheel.
Layers of lines . . . you've got this theme covered and I think this is my first visit to your blog ;)
ReplyDeletetwo themes are better than one. and that red/black combo is a bonus. well done you!
ReplyDeleteB, I know whenever I come to your blog, I'll get something great. And now, even greater. Love your work!
ReplyDeleteStriking! Superb! One of your best & your photos are always great.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say,B...
ReplyDeleteThe first shot I look at at this unearthly hour after too little sleep - and it is magnificent.
Nice work ont the theme day. I like the composition in black and red.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I really like this photo, and your comments of this photo.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot. I love how you combine your themes of the day into one photo.
ReplyDeleteThankyou for visiting MDS.
I wasn't aware there is a theme this month.
ReplyDeleteBlanc, rouge et noir : une interprétation très chaleureuse !
ReplyDeletei love this shot - the red is perfect against the black and grey
ReplyDeleteANother gorgeous black and red with all that varying gray. I love the graphic quality, the linear and the curved. And that red!!! Babooshka, you always make give us such eye candy. Love this.
ReplyDeleteLove the image. The sweep of lines - and that wonderful red. Super choice for today's Theme. A photo that really holds your interest and makes you LOOK.
ReplyDeleteLove the contrasts and your talent for using both themes together, Babooshka! Keekal and kibbinagh....hope I remember those for some fun usage sometime. :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how you would combine these two themes - knew you'd find a way.
ReplyDeletePerfectly in these with "Lines".
ReplyDeleteA great combination!!
I really like the darkness of this phot. It is so gothic... and you chose the perfect angle as well.
ReplyDeleteBut then, no surprise there, as you never disappoint your visitors :)
Bonjour Babooshka !
ReplyDeletejolie interprétation, avec un beau mélange de couleur...
wonderfully interpreted!
ReplyDeleteI like this red and black opposition
ReplyDeleteI like your photo, though I have absolutely no idea what it represents, but it looks a modern piece of art. The colours are very good and strong and the composition is perfect and the fact that you combined lines with the K words is terrific. Thanks for your visit!
ReplyDeleteI love this! The lines and the colours are perfect! As Reader Wil says, it looks like modern art. And congratulations for being so Klever (!) with the letter K.
ReplyDeleteThis is magnificent in its strength, and unity; a powerful image of radiating energy. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI love this photo. The textures, shapes, colour, composition. An art piece worthy of hanging on the wall. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteRed and black, wheels and pikes, darkness...your shot makes me think of Middle-Age and its tortures! I might take some holidays, don't you think so? ;-)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day in your beautiful island!
So you've your own Manx language !
ReplyDeleteKeep it as long as you are allowed !
Nice pic.
Klever Kombination, BabooshKa!
ReplyDeleteYour are such a klever kombiner of themes!
ReplyDeleteGreat interpretation for this daily theme. Well done as usual.
ReplyDeleteYour pic is fascinating! Love the detail and perspective!
ReplyDeleteAnd enjoyed seeing some Manx words!
Manx worlds are very odd.
ReplyDeleteI bet that would hurt if you got pushed into one of the spikes. OUCH.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful, interesting and informative post. . Nice pic too. Wow! You have it all. MB
ReplyDeleteheeh Babooska, I learned again some words I like the kEEKAH word the most, nice shot also....

ReplyDeleteAn engaging photo! I am going to show my ignorance--I've never heard of the Manx language. I'm off to google. . .
ReplyDeleteThe color red...and the pattern of the steel, love it.
ReplyDeleteAren't you Klever Kombining the two themes in one posting.
ReplyDeleteBear((( )))
Awesome shot. Nice choice for theme day.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I call a photo of modern art..!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely words!
ReplyDeleteHoly Toledo, 55...now 56 comments for your post! I like that I learned two new words. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
ReplyDeleteVery dramatic and lovely!
ReplyDeleteCool shot for theme day! I like the striking and the pointy ends :)
ReplyDeleteVery autumnal composition for this theme day, kudos!
ReplyDeleteI like this one a lot :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment - you're the only one who spotted the curve. Come back tomorrow to see if you were right!
Wow you got more then 60 comments. No wonder since the pic with nice composition, eye catching color and good words. Perfect B !

ReplyDeleteSunshine Coast Daily - Australia
Great post - not only 2 themes together but a totally location centred post too. Interesting words in Manx! I shall keep coming back - I want to see if you find some fairy poo ;-)
ReplyDeleteInteresting lines, pretty interesting water wheel. I also notice there are minimal colors here which creates a dynamic image.
ReplyDeleteThe many layers of this image are wonderful ... very deep. I particularly like that you show the motion of the red wheel without feeling compelled to show the wheel in its entirety. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI liked the contrast with the red and the B&W.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo as usual.
I was late for the theme day and only used my phone camera lol. Anyway, this interpretation is a little tough nd scary for me! Though a waterwheel it looks like a prison to me or more like a place where the types of movies like Hellboy, Constantine will be filmed!
ReplyDeleteNice composition. Like how the photo is essentially monochrome yet has the red colors in it.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting use of lines
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I´m curious about your island.I knew the island but there isn´t many information about it. Congratulations, you live in a wonderful place. Greetings.
