RAMSEY RUGBY

The Isle of Man really isn't full of men, despite the photo. We actually have a higher percentage of woman here, as do most parts of the world(not Alaska I hear though.) Perhaps this is why our sport events are often frequented by hordes of single woman. Purely to show support for whichever team they support you understand!

The 2 Teams above are Ramsey( the darker shirts) and Douglas Vagabonds. This was a home game for Ramsey, so the support was tremendous, but alas we lost( yes I support them) as we have all too often this season. Sorry lads, but you know I'm right. All that beer in the Rugby Club perhaps hampering your skills and speed. Ther'e 's always next season.

  4. Hi from Belgrade, where most men are die-hard sports fans, especially of soccer. I'm not. But this is a really nice shot! I much prefer viewing good sports photos than the sport itself, with the possible exception of tennis.

  6. Thanx for the comments, and you're right about both Oasis and Kate Bush. I've already done the little review, it's below the third part of my festival season countdown! Anyway, great pic as ever. Still in awe as to how you manage to get a hold of such great shots.
    Ciao

  7. I agree and amazing shot. In fact I like all the photos on your blog.

BTW: I think the ration of males to females in Alaska is nearly 50:50 now after many years of being about 75% males to 25% females. I know when I moved to Alaska I was glad I brought a wife along with me!

  10. Never been interested in this game until having seen an England-Wales game last year in a London pub. Nice shot this one. And thanks for your comment Babooshka. (btw, my country has just qualified for the 2008 ice-hockey world championship today after beating Ukraine, so I'm in a sports fan mood anyway :)

  16. Greetings from Juneau,Alaska!
    Great shot!
According to the population statistics, the male/female is 52:48. I think it depends on where you live in Alaska. I know the ratio is fairly equal in the larger cities and towns like Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka. I've lived all over Alaska and the smaller towns always had more men.

I remember having back surgery one year in Seattle, WA and when I was flying home the plane was full of men. Only two women were on board (not counting those working for the airlines). I know this isn't the norm, but it definitely said a lot about Alaska.

  19. That's a really terrific sports shot - always hard to catch the drama of it, rather than just a bunch of spread out people!
