Jaded Solid Air - Skywatch

Sad reflections

For those that don't know this week has been pure reflections. One camera, one woman, no alterations. Images captured as see all refelctions. I have just stopped by to upload this, but then I will be off again. Many thanks to all for the Birthday congratulations. In brief this is Mooragh Park overlooking the lake conveiniently named Mooragh too. You can see Snaefell mountain in the background surrounded by peachy sunglow. The sky reflected in the lake has a slight jade tinge meeting the peach tinged sun. As you can see my the week's worth of reflections, we have had some interesting results. Again I have left the pebbles in the image and not removed to leave a smooth surface.

This was an experiment this week to show you what can be achieved with just a camera, and no digital alterations.

Had a great day thanks. Gary is just offered another Illustration commission and it's a biggy. Only sad news is one of the artist's, a UK musician, who was big influence on Gary called John Martyn(click here) died today. He was a close friend of someone who was a great influence on me Nick Drake. Hence the Jaded. So may we never raise our glasses for better reasons than birthdays and passings into solid air under a saturday sun. It makes sense if you know the music.

Gone for a Bailey's or several.

  1. Jaded day or not, it's a beautiful photo. My sympathies on the death of your friend.

Wishing you a happy birthday, Babooshka. May you get just the right number of Bailey's under your belt. :)

  19. The intense lurker thinks he's wasting his time with colour correction!

But then, we rarely get a green sky reflection.... ;-)

  30. Sorry to hear about your friend, but stupidly happy to hear about Gary's new gig. Hope it works out for you both.

And "jaded" applies here in the coloring too. Love the green-tinted look. And I still love the rocks poking their heads up through the surface.

  36. Hi Babs, I peeked at the whole week's worth and only in this one did I recognize an item. And this one it the prettiest.
I would not have recognized this except that you pointed its reflection out.
I have been up on your Snaefell Mountain, it was a nice rail trip. I suppose you take that several times a year. I would if I lived there.

  38. Gorgeous jades- You captured nature's monochromatic colors beautifully! I'm "soaking" up those lovely reflections.
(I also do not alter digitally. Nature gives us plenty of color to work with.)

  80. Hey Babooshka, beautiful picture.

Just stopped by to say we too are feeling the loss of John Martyn....what can I say.

We are having our second John Martyn session tonight listening to everything we have got and raising a glass.

I met so many sad folk today who's lives his music has accompanied. Listening to him now brings mixed emotions but time is a healer and his music and talent will endure.

    ReplyDelete
  81. It was actually the lemon shades that I noticed first. Love the tree reflections.

  82. It is very sad news about John Martyn :( This photo is a lovely tribute. Hope your head isn't hurting too much.

  83. I've never seen a Jade Sky even by reflection. It's unique.
Joyeux (belated) Birthday, Babooshka. Champagne seems better than Bailey

    ReplyDelete
  84. Belated Happy Birthday Babooshka. Your name reminds me a words in Russian.
Great awakening refection of a birthday woman.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Stunningly different shot. I agree with not removing the pebbles. Nature is perfect as it is without graphic alterations. You name, Babooshka, reminds me so much of my Grandmom, a lovely Hungarian lady who loved to cook & did not leave the house in chilly weather with out her babooshka.

  86. Wonderful image as always. Hope you've had heaps of fun on you BD. Looking forward to Gary's new work.

  87. A beautiful picture. I love the subtle colours. Happy birthday! Mine is today (30th) Perhaps we were born on the same day but in different time zones that altered the date.

    ReplyDelete
  88. To be honest I didn't even notice the pebbles as my eyes were drawn to the remote mountain line and the lovely colour of the 'picture' in the water. But the pebbles do give the picture perspective so a good choice.

    ReplyDelete
  89. As there is no Saturday post I guess last night was a good one! Great photo :)
