TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE SKYWATCH

Sparkling Poyll Dooey

Is it Friday already? Must be skywatch then. Hope this works today. Between computer glitches, server problems, Mr Linky not being Mr Linky and the horrible weather I have gone for an archive from the summer. A little bit of sparkle and twinkle on a cold wet November grey day. It's over the Poyll Dooey again, my beloved nature reserve in Ramsey. If you want to see how this shot was taken see Skywatch Poyll Dooey, my other twinkle pic with the photography lesson.

Well I've downloaded new software- running fine.
Server back to normal- for how long I don't know.
Mr Linky is working again- links seem fine now.

Today a big thank you to a few people. This really shows that "the kindness of strangers still exists," even if is not in your own back yard.

MRS NESBITT'S PLACE- tirelessly trying to run the ABC blog and keep us all linked somehow.
GORDON ADELAIDE- He kindly linked my blog to Mr Linky when my server was down. I asked for anyone to help, he jumped to it straight away.
SAILOR GIRL, PORTUGAL- Also jumped straight in and re added my link several times to ABC when it kept disappearing.

Many thanks you were my twinkling stars this week, tremendous help. Anyone stopping by, my blog today, stop by their blogs too for they kept this blog twinkling when it was lost in the virtual world.

To join us go to SKYWATCH.

  6. Hi Babs, this is what the stars look like to me all the time. Perhaps with a longer tail on the bottom. You picture is very pretty.
I hope your computer can continue running like right now with the problems gone.
Happy SkyWatching, mine is in a fog today. :-)

  20. I wasn't skywatching when you shot the original one, but I'll second your word of warning. I melted a shutter curtain in my first film SLR shooting this way even with a circular polarizer and an ND6 filter attached. I couldn't stop down enough and she sizzled. I've shot similar scenes since then, but my equipment is better now and I can dial down exposures to below the danger level.

And you're right too when you say this is a shot best shot with manual settings. The internal metering would never know what to do with all that light!

  21. I'm making a wish on this brightest of stars that your computer luck holds. Brilliant capture.

  22. Your excellent photo of the sun as seen from the green earth definitely reminds us that the Sun is indeed one of the countless stars in the sky.

  26. That's a brightness we won't see until January--and then it will be so unlike the warmth of this sun!

  27. I liked the first image when posted. I love this one as it has that bit more blue for the contrast. No chance of getting anything like that this week though. Sorry to hear abot your PC problems. Loved yesterdays bridge shot as well. Thought at first looks it was taken just over the road from The Stanley but then I realised you can see the contol cabin so it must have ben taken by the new swimming pool. great capture.

  31. LB,

Checked the back shot. Thanks for the lesson. Not got the instinct to get a shot like this. Kudos. You're a star.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh very nice! How did you do that? I'm always careful about not shooting into the sun unless I can look at it safely with my eyes as I heard it can damage the camera's sensor. Maybe that's not so?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Beautiful! I wish I could capture a moment like this with my camera.

  41. Babooshka, admit it... you're really a faery or powerful otherworldly creature... that's the only reason you would be able to coax this kind of spectacular twinkle out of our ordinary sun...

I don't even want to know the mundane photographic explanation. In my mind, this is just one of Babooshka's magical shots!

    ReplyDelete
  42. This is so nice...looks very warm which I welcome since it is so cold here!
