Poyll Dooey Nature Reserve, has a series of nature trails meandering through it. I decided to follow one of these and came across these very vivid rich red leaves on a recently planted sapling. The sky seemed to be one enormous dirty white blanket of cloud, so I knew that the reds would pop out against it. Just how white the backdrop would be I didn't realise as the camera had been on the wrong ISO. When I uploaded I could see the white was completely bleached out. Normally I don't favour this look, but I just went with it and now don't mind the image. Serendipity and photography really do go hand in hand sometimes.
So have you had a serendipitous moment with your camera?
Lovely photo today. Sounds like you got hated on a bit for your post yesterday. No worries, always fun to be provocative. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dan. I tune in for your writing. I admire your style and the pictures for me are a bonus.
ReplyDeleteYup. You saw this one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful leaf!
It is a lovely shot...
ReplyDeleteGreat color & lovely shapes against the white sky - you are right! I count on serendipidy ALL the TIME.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to read your write-up & comments on your yesterday's po_ting. Notice how "anonymous" opinions pot, ah sorry, pop up. Good for you for posting ALL about Ramsey.
Lovely...looks like an autumn shot, actually.
ReplyDeleteJ'aime cette couleur et l'effet de vent
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo!
ReplyDeleteManxie Cat and IOM resident, funny that both of them don't blog, i have found that the nasty and negative comments come from people who post Anonymous or don't blog, these people should try this blogging thing and see how brave they are when it them in the firing line, keep up the excellent and at time controversial work.
ReplyDeleteThe leaves look like what we call a Red Maple which takes forever to grow and for that reason is not favored by homeowners. I like it because it is hard maple and grows slow.
ReplyDeleteI like the colour of the leaves and I like the shapes of the leaves.
ReplyDeleteI like your images and I especially like your words. I admire the way you back down to no-one!!
It is important the you keep doing and blogging what YOU want. It is important for you - it is important for us.
Onya ...
Its always good to speak straight from your mind =) Your style of writing actually appeals to me. Good collection of pictures too.
ReplyDeleteLove moments with my camera!
ReplyDeleteDx
Nice shot and detail
ReplyDeleteLove the color! And nice follow-up to yesterday's post. LOL!
ReplyDeletecela rend bien sur ta photo. J'ai déjà fait toute une série de photo, en me trompant sur le mode (j'étais en mode Tv (vitesse) ) et toutes mes photos étaient trop sombre (presque noire) ;o)
ReplyDeleteit makes good on your photo. I have already made a series of photo, to deceive me on the way (I was in TV mode (speed)) and all my pictures were too dark (almost black) ;o)
Ths looks more like something you'd see in autumn - must be a certain kind of plant, right? I have blood grass which is amazing - kind of reminds me of that!
ReplyDeleteCiao
Scarlet x
It is a maple isn't it? I have a maple the same tone.
ReplyDeleteI like the nice crisp detail of the leaves in front - with the translucence and veins. The white background actually helps me focus on the leaves.
ReplyDeleteSince I still don't know an f-stop from a bus stop, I'm using the auto settings, and I always get serendipitous surprises - good and bad. :-)
This shot reminds me of the tree in the front yard of the home I grew up in. It was beautiful in the summer, though more purple than red like this. I love trees.
ReplyDeleteThat's gorgeous, Babooshka. I love shots like this. The color is so rich.
ReplyDeleteLove this serendipitous image!!
ReplyDeleteI've had plenty myself, thank God.
Very lovely Sky Watch! Beautiful leaves!
ReplyDeleteThis isn't skywatch yet. It'll be on soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot and I do so love how the word serendipity rolls off the tongue!!!
ReplyDeleteAh now that is a beautiful colour against a typically British sky. Excellent shot. Great angle.
ReplyDeleteohh maples on the sky, how pretty ! Nothing better than nature playing with all the colors.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments on my blog earlier.
Beautiful photo, babooshka! You could have joined Ruby Tuesday with this shot! Come join us next Tuesday! :)
ReplyDeleteI never knew about the Manxman or about this flag before. Thanks for the lovely photo and the commentary!
