Here comes the rain again

What kind of sky do you see?

Looking on the dark side our sizzling mini heatwave will be over this week. It's been a corker. Who needs a holiday( actually I still want one of those) when you have had the blazing heat at the back end of the month of June. On the other hand... It's going to persist down with the watery stuff tonight, rain that is, bucket loads. Storms are forecast for later so it's get the washing in time, secure the bird feeders and close the windows. You can feel the hot, sticky, humid air hanging heavy. This is a lemonade day. The light in the clouds and the sliver of blue sky hint the sun is out to play, but the silhouette of the trees and the ominous threatening grey clouds creeping in on the left suggest it will be a washout sometime soon...

....The cloud though swung by. Laden but not ready to drop her load over me just yet. That was earlier. I just peeked out the windows. The back patio windows are blazing with bright light. The front windows have a darker cooler tone filtering through. There is a warm slight breeze encircling the house. I can sniff a storm over Snaefell a mile off and this smells like storm spirit. Batten down the hatches but not before I get my camera.

If you click here you can see Snaefell closer and what it is.

The sky is good to us, not to my garden, hope you will enjoy what will happen the next days.

Does look stormy! Terrific shot! Don't get too wet! Have a great weekend, hope it does rain the entire time. This is our best time of year and it does make up for long, wet, cold winter!

Great play with the contrast. I think it is a beautiful day played down by the contrast. So for this photo I will say it is a stormy day. Going to rain soon I guess. haha...

Have a wonderful weekend.

It got dark earlier tonight and we are awaiting the rain hoping it will be not so hot afterwards - 10pm and we are still waiting in the heat.

Our skies look like this all the time this summer. I love it. So pretty. Fantastically pretty!

Alexander-It's beautiful day being threatened by clouds. Shot straight out of the camera, no adjustments, but you can't get this on auto has to be a manual setting. You regulars will no what I'm on about.

Hyde and Tom. I'm blowing as hard as I can.

I didn't like this weather forecast. That kind of weather tend to continue across the North Sea...

Pam said...

Maybe it will pass through. A nice downpour is needed here. TOO HOT!

I enjoyed your writing and photo. Have a great holiday weekend!

We could do with some here, cool things down a bit. Difficult to sleep and very headachey at the moment.

It's still dry, no storm. The air is thick. 2hrs before it hits max. Thanks for the other Snaefell link to compare.

The photo conveys the menacing feel of an approaching storm. I can almost smell it approaching, and I'm sure I can feel the wind.

Impressive sky!!

Waiting for a storm here too, plain rain I hope and no wind storm. I wish it will be a safe storm for you too.

Very dramatic sky. Snaefell looks beautiful, what's the elevation?

Jane Hards Photography said...

The rain has just started and already the atmospheric pressure has lifted. Sending it over to Tom and Hyde.

Any thunder & lightning? The storm clouds are super gorgeous.

Nice photo shot. The weather is better these days over here. No so hot and humid. Have a nice weekend.

What a wonderfully descriptive post. I feel like I'm there with you after reading this. I love the shot. There is so much variety in the sky.

Sounds like you definitely have some photo possibilities ahead.

I'm surprised it has been so hot there in June. I'd have thought the weather would be moderated by breezes off the water. Hmmmm.

A storm is fast approaching, better get indoors soon. Nice post I like the tree on the side in the foreground.

The storm hit about 30 mins ago. Internet connection went down. Terrific thunder and lightening. Back on for now but sure connection will go again soon.

Lew said...

I hope that at least you have cooled down a bit! Nothing worse than wet heat and a closed house.

Cathy said...

Great picture // hope it cools down for you!

Gaelyn said...

Looks like the skies around here lately, except no high heat or humidity, and not very much rain either. Yet I love the smell right before rain comes into a country. And also the fresh after. Plus thunder and lightning is exciting.

Yes, that is a very dramatic sky. We had two people struck by lightning yesterday in the Boston area . . . just reminds us of who's boss.

nothing like a good rain to keep my tomato , basil, rosemary, and sage plants watered. Then followed by hot humid sunshine. There is relief in the lemonade mixed with gin.

Looks like a mound of ice cream. Thanks for the visit and have a nice weekend.

That's a great one!

It definitely looks very threatening! Impressive photo. I would be glad if this heatwave is over and normal summer weather is on its way!

Mo said...

Think we are due to have a share of it today. Will be a relief from the humidity. Be ok we get clouds as pretty as these.

The Girl With The Mousy Hair said...

Great photo but I for one am glad that the heat has now passed for a while. I work in an office which can only be described as a caravan and we have all been cooking on gas mark five.
I dream of taking photos like that.x

10.23 am it has just hit here. There was a bit of thin sun earlier. Now it is bouncing off the roof and I've just shut all the windows - the automatic rain-sensor on the kitchen skylight doesn't work.

Just had a huge flash of lightning so think I'll switch the computer off now.

Love how you captured the impending drama!
We must have called all the rain clouds over our town and left a few for you!
Hope all who need rain, find some relief and those, in the N.E. of the USA find some sunshine!
Oh no... I think I hear more thunder!

Still no rain here, though it has been threatening. A good storm is what we need to shift the humid, sticky air.
